how can people rate this less than 5 stars? It's the only cover on youtube and there is no video of Dave to reference. He had to figure this out himself and he did an awesome job! Thanks for helping me figure it out
haha yea, this is the first time I did that actually. I usually do both the vocals and the guitar in the same recording, but something sounded weird about the mic recording, so I just redid the vocals separately. I guess I sang the wrong line lol
Only one small thing, it felt a little rough at the beginning. But right when you started singing, it came together perfectly. The vocals are really good on this one.
One thing people don't comment much about, your performance (as in looks) is great.
thanks, yea I actually had a really tough time with the timing in the beginning for some reason. The vocals sorta keep me on track for the rest of it i guess
Both this and Beach Ball are my favorites from LRB.
Hey I'm curious about your guitar. Is that your old one tuned up to RB, or a new one. If so, what type and how much? And will it be able to handle the neck tension? Sorry for all the questions but I'm in the market for a dedicated raised B guitar :D
This Ibanez is his older one. He got a new Taylor 6 string, so he restrung this guitar for Raised-B. I did the same when I got my Guild, I tuned my Samick to Raised-B.
I suggest to not get an extremely expensive one. I'd find something decent under $400 (more around $200)
So your not particularly concerned about the neck strength? Or you found out that it would be suitable beforehand? Thanks for the responses Mark and RTs :D
there really shouldn't be a problem with neck strength, assuming you tune it properly using the right strings. If you try to do it with a regular set of strings, you're just going to snap them. Just about any guitar will work for this tuning though
Just as RantingThespian said, this is just my old guitar tuned up to raised-B. It's an ibanez aeg10e, which is a really nice beginners guitar. They run for about 250-300 and are really great guitars. I really dont have a need for this with my taylor though so I figured i'd tune it up for a few songs
From now on I'm gone listen you instead of DMB.Just kidding:P Amazing indeed:)

Nice job. I think dave actually plays this in regular b tuning and not drop b.
CTFishguides 1 year ago
@CTFishguides I think you are right. When he plays it live, he doesn't drop the top string. In the studio I'm pretty sure he does though

i just started strung one of my guitars to raised b tuning...where did you find the accurate tab for this song? you do an aweaome cover btw!!
myboat1990 1 year ago
@myboat1990 I didn't actually use a tab for this song because I couldn't find a good one. I just figured most of it out by ear

you had a milli vanilli effect at around 2:23. Haha. I assume you recorded vocals separate from the guitar work? Nice job Mark!

If the neck can't handle a Raised-B tuning, it definitely wouldn't handle standard tuning.
As long as it's a quality neck, there should be 0 problems.
