Americans should read why Japan was neutral with the Soviets. In 1938-1939, Japan threw a few of their best divisions against the Soviets, but the Soviets beat up the Japanese both times. Had these battles been a stalemate, perhaps Japan would've invaded Siberia when the Germans invaded the Soviets. Because the Japanese signed a neutral act, the Soviets was free to  send west 50 excellent crack divisions against the Germans in Dec. 1941

Why do I say this?! I was stationed in Wildflecken, Germany or the ONE-INCH LINE in the 60's. I had to study how the Soviets fought in case the Soviets invaded thru the Fulda Gap. We had to live as long as possible and hope for reinforcements from the west. I am forever grateful for the Soviet sacrifice

Good piece but incorrect in it's analysis is incorrect. Insignificant tinkering by Hitler is not the reason Plan Blue failed. When you base a plan on intelengence that says the enemy has run out of reserves when in fact they have a million men in ten feild armies and other formations your chance of sucess are very slim. Add this to another blunder that insured the northern flank of army group A would be harassed and you have the recipe for the disaster that was about to happen.

@c9az And non stop bombing of German war industry from US and UK's air forces. I think the US air force did more damage than all of the armies combined in destroying the German war machine. The wehrmacht couldnt even show themselves during the day in France or Germany from 43-45 due to allied strafing and bombing mostly from the U.S.

More than 75% of German war effort went to the eastern front. Your argument is invalid. And I laugh at your history knowledge. The allies landed on Western Europe in 1944 and the only resistance they faced were children from hitler youth.

After the Allied landing in Normandy it was roughly 60 - 40 although from mid 1942 onwards at least 65% of the Luftwaffe was in the west and nearly 100% of the Kreigsmarine. Only children in western Europe? I presume that these kids were driving the tanks of the Panzer Divisions there. Strangely enough there were not many prisoners who were kids although no doubt you will have a daft explanation for that.

Hitler got a head of himself they thought that they could end the war before the onset of winter, even though his generals warned against this action, lest they where unprepared, hitler wouldn't even let them to breakout, he said it was there duty to die in battle even though they had no supplies, fucking goring said that he could supply them with the 6 tons of supplies need on a daily basis to survive, maybe 1/10 got through condoms etc..

@AmericanDream1900 Having the Italians as Allies might have cost Hitler the war. Barbarossa was delayed by 6 weeks due to the Balkans campaign. It also opened up Germany's southern flank to Allied air attacks and eventual invasion. The Germans wasted alot of air and ground resources defending N Africa and then Italy.
