  • AHHH I'M HAVING A HEART ATTACK! SHEER HEART ATTACK!!!

  • omg! Anthrax!

  • We Will Rock You and We are the Champions are fucking cool songs...but it's almost criminal that most people will ignore this fucking monster of a bad ass song. Seriously. This song rocks harder than most bands can ever dream of.

  • HAY HAY HAY HAY It was the DNA! This was my favorite song on the first album I ever bought.

  • I stole this record from my mom when I was a kid - probably because the album cover scared the hell out of me - and for a while this was the only song I would listen to. It's enchanting in a hard & heavy way. But doesn't Brian May's solo start to sound like a squeaky swing set? Yeah - LOVE IT!

  • SPEED METAL!

  • i always think roger taylor sing this song on the cd but its fredie mercury

  • QUEEN FREDDIE MERCURY THE BEST OF WORLD AND THE UNIVERSE!!!

  • freddie was loud & fast way before the ramones showed up.

  • I never knew freddie was in a ramones tribute band, THIS IS AWESOME

  • Comment removed

  • @centaurodigital are u kidding?

  • @itslexahvelvet NO IS NOT ME, IT WAS A MOTHERFUCKER SPAM, FREDDIE IS EVERYTHING FOR ME!

  • FREDDY DAMN..these boys could rock

  • One of the first thrash metal songs.... Megadeth, Metallica and testament got nothing on Freddy.

  • 3 people live without a heart.

  • News of the World was a very awesome album, but imo this should have been in Sheer Heart Attack.

  • yeeeey punk rock!

  • I AM CARDIAC !!!!!! DNA, DNA, DNA, DNA.

  • when i was young the the front of the album scared me lol

  • does anyone know if the opening line is some kind of homage to the Beatles?

  • @agentkoren I'm pretty sure that you are right 'cos all the members of Queen were huge Beatles fans. Like anyone with ears of course.

  • THAT IS THE BEST RIFF EVER, BRIAN MAY IS MAGNIFICENT! DEFINITELY MADE THEIR MARK ON THIS ONE!

  • THE SOLO IS EAR POUNDING!!! GOOD WORK, BRIAN!!!

  • Sounds almost like a Punk song, my favorite Queen song.

  • It's high school study hall period all over again! I remember listening to this back in '77 when it came out while playing spades or chess in study hall back in the 'burg. Class of '78 rules. ROSEBURG ,OREGON INDIANS RULE! god save the QUEEN!

  • @sabbathfreak1 nice!

  • This kept Queens head above water once the Punk invasion started.

In 1977 was my fav jukebox track at my local pub.

  • @cjtal2005 Ummm...really? This song rocks...but We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions is on this album.......I don't think Sheer Heart Attack was "keeping Queen's head above water during the Punk invasion".

We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions were absolutely huge for them. Queen didn't need to compete with punk. They were in a genre all by themselves.

  • @ninjamojo711 Ummm...yeah!! If you weren't there you couldn't be expected know.

  • @cjtal2005 Well, I was around then. It may have been different for a while in London, but where I'm from the Sex Pistols were never bigger than Queen.

  • @ninjamojo711

I didn't ever say they were.

My comment was about Queen surviving the onslaught of punk with this one song whereas so many other bands went under, put them in a different league because of it.

Don't get me wrong I have been a Queen fan since I first heard them in 1973.

  • they really didnt delve into hard rock that much but this one is a beaut

  • @hoss73ford1

    um

about 50% of what queen did was hard rock

  • @PolMcCartney Not even 50% About only 25-30% of Queen's works was hard rock and that too in 1970s mostly. Despite being such highly talented and creative hard rockers they chose to go 'soft' later.

  • I had the privilege of seeing Queen back in 1980, back when I was still in high school. There was not much doubt that Mercury was gay.

    Who cares.

Listen to Bohemian Rhapsody. God, that is all Freddie, 9 or 10 versions of him singing the song.

    With his SOUL.

    I miss you , Freddie.

And I choose to think you are in a better place, now.

God gave you the gift, a great gift.

Wish you were here still, to share it with us all.

  • Arguably, one of , if not the first speed metal song

  • 1977..this was my childhood right here once again! Who knew in less than 4 years this would be the basis of popular music. Queen WAS trendsetting. Ha! Love this band, always have, always will!!!

  • Roger was/is an accomplished guitarist in his own right, though obviously a more primitive songwriter than either Freddie or Brian (or John, really, though his output was more prolific). I like his riffing here and the clash of his playing style with Brian's (and the tone! my goodness!) is enjoyable to observe.

  • I love this F-ing song...

  • In true sense of Punk, this is one hell of a song, even for Queen. Roger probably wrote it as garage in 74 because garage reached England in 72 when the Stooges played there. This song was released in 77, a year after the Ramones played The Roadhouse in London. As for Freddie kicking Sid Vicious out of the room, good for Freddie,Punk, but most of all, Queen.

  • The first line doesn't rip off the Beatles nor does that stuttering delivery of "in-ar, in-ar, in-ar, inarticulate" rip off the Who from "My Generation." Maybe it's a hat tip, but jeez, let's just acknowledge the prodigious talent and creativity at work here.

We have a retired friend who is a die-hard Beatles fan, just learned last night that Queen is his second-favorite band even though he didn't get into them until after Freddie's death. Now that's a way to gain instant respect...

  • This is my personal favorite track off of this album. I'm 36 and my dad gave me this on vinyl back when I was 5 years old. Still have it to this day. I used to bug my dad to skip past the other tracks just so I could hear this one. No bullshit.

  • @matt74moses Erm...I believe ya. ;)

  • GREAT SONG "HEAR"!!!!!!!

  • @dontloseyourhead, I know who wrote songs for Queen, but I thought the second sentence form this quote is suggesting Roger is the lead singer of of this song. Maybe I understood it wrong... but for me his voice is more noticeable here ;)

  • @101aneta Roger never sang this. It's Freddie singing, Roger only provides back vocals here. I'm sure.

  • Loved the cutoff at the end. Reminds me of I Want You (She's So Heavy).

  • @elmorocks, I think it's not the easy thing to recognize the voice in the beginning, it could be Freddie, but I'm sure after two or tree text lines I hear Roger. And this is from their official website- "For the very first time, both Roger and John had two contributions each on News Of The World. Roger's raw punk-driven Sheer Heart Attack (written for the album of the same name but not completed in time), which the author sings on the album but not in concert."

  • @101aneta It's both Freddie and Roger singing, man. That quote is most likely talking about two writing contributions each as opposed to singing, because on previous albums it was mostly Freddie and Brian who wrote the songs. John never sang lead on any Queen album, so they must have been talking about the writing as John wrote 'Who Needs You' and 'Spread Your Wings', Roger wrote 'Sheer Heart Attack' and 'Fight From The Inside'. I'm such a geek.

  • Oh... You admire Freddie's voice in this track, but the truth is this is ROGER'S voice. Freddie performed it only live.

  • @101aneta I haven't listened to the whole song, but in the beginning, its definitely Freddie

  • @101aneta The truth?.,..lol....The truth is, freddie is the lead vocalist on this track....roger is the backing singer.....it's pretty obvious!,

  • There were probably many "Sheer Heart Attacks" at the News of the World recently...

  • @organaphus I was hoping someone would make that joke. Thanks, man!

  • Taylor played the backing guitars on this tune.

  • was lucky enough to see Queen live in '77 '78 and '82 this is one of my favorite songs..just listen to that guitar! Brian May..Guitar master..Roger Taylor to just say drummer is not enough great drummer and John Deacon on bass.wow....Freddie Mercury clear..perfect voice..these men pure genius..each live show was a musical journey..they were the perfect combination of absolute talent...I will always be a fan Freddie Mercury a beautiful.man..so shy and quite in. private..on stage he was Amazing

  • @helga284

    >Shy and quite

    >Freddy Mercury

    Pick one

  • Good and Violent......like sex......

  • My childhood, thanks mum xxxx :)

  • definitely not the design intent of the Vox AC-30

    lmfao

  • the bottom end on those Vox blue dogs are so loose u can almost hear BM having to compensate hitting each double stop a microsecond ahead of the beat..i suspect that was massive Vox funeral pyre going on there...listen to how hard the amps are trying to keep up.

  • Best song on album...Just sayin'....

  • The drum solo man...the short fuckin' drum solo....

  • fukin great

  • Queen were way too smart for the other rock bands of that era,Freddie had that charisma in his voice he didn't sound like some burnt out stoner rocker.

  • Queen PUNK style!! as never seen!

  • Heart ATTACK! LoL. me n my friend get stoned to this all da time (Vinyle of course ;])

  • 2:25 with those sounds I always imagine Freddie singing in a ufo ship do not know why

  • I feel slightly inarticulate ... know what I'm saying?

  • Love this song, so Heavy.

  • i love Queen, but this is just noise.

  • @HippieChick1776 - you have no clue what Queen was about if that is your opinion.

  • @HippieChick1776 wtf......dude people like u make me depressed..ur so stupid..

  • Queen goes punk with Robert Plant on lead vocals?

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN Ha-ha!

  • actually what happened in the recording process was Queen recorded the song Sheer Heart Attack afew years back in the Sheer Heart Attack Album sessions. Well the engineer was distracted and when the album was mastered and finalized he forgot the song. So the track sat in storage at the studio office, then one day Sid Vicious from the rhythm and blues band Sex Pistols came across it while he was looking for a surface to crush up a pill. He had a producer put the vocals to their new song.

  • QUEEN---''SHEER HEART ATTACK''

  • I've listened to and loved Queen since I was a baby. Now that I'm 17, this song makes more sense haha .. I love it!

  • Now I remember why I loved this song as a kid... frikkin' explosive guitar sound.

  • it was the DNA that made them the greatest rock band

  • a brilliant ending

  • Roger Taylor would have made a hell of a guitar player if he wasn't a drummer. my favorite song from this album.

  • @MrManfly he is a guitar player as well

  • @Queenforever15 er......let me clarify.....Roger Taylor would have been great on lead guitar for Queen if they didn't already have Brian May doing it. how's that luv?

  • @MrManfly alright alright i understand you darling

  • @MrManfly - Go listen to his solo albums. My favourite is his first, "Fun In Space", and you can hear the same sort of riffing, like fingers strumming while wearing a glove, rather than May's precise plucking. No, that's not a knock on it, they're just very distinct styles of play.

  • Queen's best album ever! A Night at the Opera #2, Sheer Heart Attack album #3, the much-underappreciated Queen II #4, and The Game #5.

  • Respond to this video... mine are 1. Sheer Heart Attack 2. News Of The World 3. Queen II 4. A Night At The Opera 5. The Game honorable mention Queen I

  • Roger didnt do the vocals - he did the bass, rythm guitar and drums - and backing vocals - the lead vocals are distinctly Fred's .............nice guitar feedback !!! - love this album - been a queenophile (the group) since 1974...........god do I feel old !!!! - Just watch Roger Taylors solo project "I wanna Testify' (1977) he is a solid guitarist - he also was the guitarist with The Cross .....ironically his son Rupert plays drums (and extremely well I might add!)

  • @diamantinadavina Wow your right, he just roughed up his voice on this track. It took a little bit of listening to Fight from the inside but your right Thanks. I used to be a "queenophile" too but stopped after the Game. I just started listening to them again the last few weeks, reliving my childhood,so I know how you feel. Keep rockin' and thanks again for the info.

  • @oldpunker1 Well, Roger DOES sing the chorus of this song ("Sheeeeeeeeeeeer HEART ATTACK !!!")

  • No it doesn't cut short that's the way it is on the album

  • Love the tribute to the Beatles at the beginning....

  • @tjrtherocksponge Having Brian May on guitar never hurts.

  • @vileneuve27 if that is true that is an awsome story fair play.

  • Does this song always end like so abruptly. or is this file just cut short?

  • @coulder That's the way it ends on the album. =)

  • I don't have any great Queen stories. I just know that graduating from high school, everyone was so high on, " We are the champions", and when I heard this, all I could say is, "This is the music." Heavy sounding Queen which you never hear anywhere. I've had sattelite radio for several years and even they don't play this song. They should! These guys could jam when they wanted to!

  • @stivick11 I think the drummer did everything for this song. Freddie did the vocals obviously but Roger played all the instruments except for the guitar "solo" at the end.

  • @pdhudson0311 sorry but Roger did the singing, but you are right he is an amazing musician

  • amazing harmonies :O

  • I used to stare at this album cover for hours!!! I was 7 in 1977. While everyone else was all We Will Rock You & We Are The Champions'd-out...I was rockin-out to this track on thee album MORE!!! From its PUNK driven rhythm, badass beat & SICK drum roll @ 2:48 to its abrupt/cliff hanger outro/ending. Absolutely Queens "answer to PUNK" @ that time (if there was a question! LOL)

  • @charlieodahl I actually have the original album cover as a poster on my wall... Nothing is better than waking up and seeing a Queen album. Sometimes I stand still and keep looking at it for 5-10 minutes... :D

  • @charlieodahl WIth this record Queen took on the punks on their own turf. And won( or at least managed a tie).

  • (HEADROCK)

  • Queen to najlepsza grupa w hostorii muzyki !!!

  • This song is so spectaculor I want to SCREEEEECH

  • ahuahuha Mr Ferocious was right, duuudes!

  • Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer Heart Attack!

  • The beginnings of speed metal, perhaps? Anyway, I love rock songs like this that just stop dead! It makes you want more of it.

  • The beginnings of speed metal, perhaps?

  • @poughkeepsiejohn1

Wrong that was Exciter by Judas Priest this seems more punkish...

  • "Well You're just Seventeen"...

Well I suppose there's got to be song that starts like that as well...

  • @CentraCross ..or "SHE was just seventeen" anyway!

  • @CentraCross

The first lines are practically ripped off from The Beatles but dynamite song nonetheless.

  • @onthemoveagain Hmmmm I didn't actually realize that The Beatles owned the words " Well you're just seven-teen." Or words to the affect. I'll remember to give them their royalties next time I utter that sentence. Just because another artist uses a sentence from another fellow artist doesn't mean they " ripped off" the original.

  • @Alexander87oclock It's probably more of a hat tip then stealing; don't you think?

  • @CentraCross "Well she was just seventeen, yeah ya know what I mean" - The Beatles, I saw her standing there

  • @TheJumpyPopcorn QUEEN were BIG Beatles fans! I'm sure it was done, in honor of them!

  • this(like most roger tunes, has Rogger olayin, all but the lead tracks on it. Very drummer-esque heavy handed playin (i really like it...could be cause I'm a drummer/ g-player too ??!!??) .but the story goes, that I heard..rogher was fed up w/ the punksters in London, runin mouth 'bout Queen...so he out slammed 'em at their own game .w/ sheer heart attack. A++ LOVE the rythm behind the lead(which IS ...T H E definative 'most irritating' guitar lead ever....agree/! Peace ya'll

  • In my opinion it not sounds like punk it sounds like Heavy Metal because punk is only chopin the guitar like you never played guitar befor and only hit the snare drum as fast as you can and thats not good music comparing to Queen

  • Punk!!!!!

  • "I feel so inarticulate", lmfao

  • My fav Queen song! thanks to my sissie for giving me her old album when I was like 8 or 9...I listened to it ALL the time! Still love it! :)

  • seriously! i love eddie{iron maiden} but queen's robot would make quick work of him!LOL!

  • This song was started in 1974, if Taylor had finished it then this song would be bloody revolutionary

  • Whoever reads this stop putting up phonies.

  • Kicks ASS!

  • classic quote

  • Did Queen start punk? 1974?

  • @sundimented I would say so ... they were true innovators !!

  • @AUTHENTICAUTOBODY exactly why my old man loved them and watched them in 1982 at elland Road, I was only 5. I eventually went to see Queen in 2008 in Birmingham. Wish I was old enough to of seen Freddie.

  • @sundimented you're right, the idea to this song is 1974, but it became a colplete song in 1977, when punk was already there for about one year...so what to decide now??

  • @Sj2492

hard to decide but queen were so ahead of their time anyway

  • I love the echoed hey hey hey hey! Queen it's epic.

  • Queen should've played more punky songs like this.

  • Sheeeeeeeeeer.... heart attack!

  • Homemade amusement park ride: Get a friend stoned and then spin them around in a chair (preferably one without arms) while playing this song loud. Watch as friend falls off the chair when the song ends.

  • Now WHY couldn't they be this heavy all the time? Excellent stuff

  • THIS SONG KICKS ASS!!!!!

  • brilliant song - one of my favorites from queen

they could do it all - what a gift this band was

the whole album is a masterpiece

  • This woudn't have been revolutionary in '74. "Communication Breakdown" changed rock music in '68 - ground zero for modern rock sound and the blueprint for songs like this. Still, a great song and great album. I haven't listed to this in a long time.

  • tsushima91...I know Roger Taylor played the drums and sang but I like the sound of the guitar in this song. Perhaps I should have rephrased my comment. No biggie though. Is it? If so then oh well boo hoo.

  • It was the DNA that made me this way... ;P

  • Best guitarist ever!

  • @sjergons best guitarist ever? I think Roger Taylor played this one..

  • Punk yeah and later ripped off by Billy Idol ,, I think !!???

  • How do I find mp3iiify to download this song? I was told to google mp3iiify.

  • Mercury sang the lead on this.

  • On the original demo Taylor sang lead but you are right JackBlair2, Mercury sang lead on the album release.

  • Rockin' song man!!

  • temazo de queen

  • Este tema suena mas duro que stone cold crazy.

  • And the trash has occurred from the punk if who dont know

  • Punk song of Queen!Cool!Sadly that only one

  • This entire album was the pinnacle of their career, IMO.

  • SHEEEEER HEART ATTACK!!!

  • To think, if he had finished this song in 1974 it would have been revolutionary

  • dedicado a todos los punks !!!

que a decir verdad ahora son emos jua!!

  • Ahh... The memories. Huge old Headphones covering the entire side of my head listening to the cross channel effects & holding the blood in while I try to liquify my brains!

  • @waycooldaddio

    ROFL

  • EMI

  • vedicardi

Checked that stone cold crazy was a possible first "Hard Rock" song, although "Modern Times Rock'N Roll" from Queen was also pretty fast. Sure I had seen it somewhere as being a possible first "thrash" song. The truly unbelievable thing though is bands in the 70s would release an album every year, including world tours. Nowadays upto 3years. Maybe cos more money is made on tours than albums (free downloads).

  • Stone Cold crazy was definitely not the first hard rock song, have u ever listened to bands like Deep Purple

  • He's right listen to Link Wray. You people are Fucking Retarded to think that Stone Cold Crazy was the first hard rock song. BLACK SABBATH HAS ALREADY RELEASED PARANOID AT THIS POINT! They are also 5 years late for heavy metal!

  • even more, i guess the first metal was "In-a-gagga-da-vida" by iron butterfly from 1968

  • what about the beatles "i saw he standing there"?

  • @StratApple Not "Helter Skelter" from the Beatles?

  • The song Stone Cold Crazy was made before Sheer Heart Attack(album), Mercury played it with Wreckage in the late sixties, before the release of Sabbath's Paranoid.

  • yeah but it was not the first heavy metal song (helter skelter/in-a-gadda-da-vida) and it was DEFINITELY not the first hard rock song (you really got me, my generation)

  • yea, but it was a much different version, probably a slower much more blues version

  • \m/....O:)....\m/

  • Bit of musical history. This song written by Roger was done during the punk era and was meant ot be a punk song. When recording the album they were in the sam studios as the Sex Pistols. However SHA is regarded as the beginning of thrash metal?
