It doesnt matter if you're a fan of the Carol Burnett show, I love Lucy, Giligans Island, Sanford and son, All in the family, Threes company (and the classic tv show list goes on.) No matter how many times you watch these classic shows, they always seem fresh, just as if you've never seen them the first time.
Im glad when I was growing up, my grandmother introduced me to real tv shows/comedies. Im 25, these shows were before my time, somehow I feel iv been born in the wrong era. Thanks uploader
@deeway1963 Well I heard he liked very professional comedian and like really intellectual humor and he though these skits were kinda low class, that's what I heard and I don't think he liked being terrorized by Eunice and Mama, and kinda being the BUTT of them all the time, I heard his son HATED the way Carol and Vickie terrorized his father in these sketches.
@littlebit19801 Hmm. Well in my opinion Harvey was one of our funniest of talents. I just loved him on The Carol Burnett Show and in Blazing Saddles! The man was a genius! May he rest in peace.
@deeway1963 Yes he was GREAT in some ways I liked him better than Conway. But I heard he clashed with Carol someo n the show b/c he didn't like a LOT of the comedy *especailly the lower class comedy* that as on the show. I hear he was just VERY professional.

I have always loved the Carol Burnett Show. My family and I would never miss an episode when I was a child. My favorite characters were Eunice, Mama, Ed, and Ellen. Eunice and Mama could make me laugh sometimes without saying a word; their facial expressions and body language said it all! The cast was awesome!! Thank you for posting one of my all time favorite shows!
God Bless Carol Burnett, her treasure is great in heaven for all she's done for us. She's done more than she could possibly know. For all of us who were hurting in our lives and going thorough some hard times she was still a constant in our lives giving , making, the laughter. I will never forget when I needed her the most that she was there.
Carol Burnett was always our favorite in the girl's home. All of us were sort of displaced and didn't fit anywhere. Our favorite show was the Carol Burnett show. We would prepare ourselves by getting sodas and chips or tea and coffee. The anticipation was almost as exciting as the show itself. We all loved you Carol, every one of us. I thank God for having you back then. You gave us a gift of laughter, when most of us didn't have a whole lot to laugh about. Thank you for that. I never forget.
@rockgor We had an old "Sorry!" game, too, but there was no bell. Of course, after we saw this episode for the first time any time we played "Sorry!" we included a bell and screamed "Soorrr-y!!"
Mama was reading eunices trashy magazine when she said read the article about Liz and Jackies feud over Latin lover,LOL ,Im pretty sure they were spoofing Liz taylor and Jackie Kennedy Onassis,,as the 2 women were always in tabloids back then, this ,was done out of sheer comedy im sure!CUTE!
There were so many memorable moments its hard to mention, but I liked when Sammy Davis Jr appeared to visit Carol as long lost friend who paid to visit him before singing. The friend was living in the bigoted early years, and failed to see his success. Sammy goes, "Because we dont do those honey childs??"
Does anyone have the Mamas Family episode, where mama goes back 35 years when she was young, mistreated by her hellraising mother, again played by vickie. Eunice is a little girl with the same old ugly dress and hairdo!
I remember that clip, during that episode it's revealed Eunice "had" to get married. Mama says "welcome to the club Eunice." Eunice is stunned to realize "Mama had to get married."
Or, how about the entire series season-by-season on DVD, with all the skits, including the "family", Stella Toddler, Mrs. Wiggins, etc. That would be cool. :)
this reminds me of when i was little and my uncle and aunt at xmas time would play chutes and ladders and they would not follow the rules. they acted like kids!!
@WWJD85 That actually happened in the syndicated version of Mama's Family. It was the episode where Bubba came home drunk and it reminded Mama all too much of how Eunice first started drinking and it was revealed right there that Iola had lived across from the Harpers all her life and there was a scene where Iola and Eunice had a small spat.
Hey! This is my ABSOLUTE favorite sketch from the show! My goodness, poor Eunice...she tries SO HARD to make everyone happy... you can just see her demise coming closer with every statement they make... How do they write this stuff??? Miss B can't even keep a straight face... the bloopers reel is A+ too.. cheers! Peace for July 1 & July 4! (International fam). JP
I laughed so hard at different moments in this skit that I was crying and coughing at the same time: Ed & Momma shouting "Soooooooooooooooorryyyyy! at Eunice, and Eunice shouting "It was a Seven!!!." Thanks for the memories.
Love Mama's family - anyone have the link here when Eunice yells "DINNERTIME" and drops the plate on the table? That one's been stuck in my mind for 25 years but I can't find it.
I have several of these skits on dvd but I would like to have them all can someone tell me how many "The Family" skits they made during the run of the Carol Burnett show?
"They asked me if I'ed read them a bedtime story, and I said do you think you deserve a story with your room being such a mess, and they said ,well Mama lets us keep it this way,and I said ,well your Mama likes living in a garbage can but I don't so lets clean up this mess " My GOD the way Mama insults Eunice indirectly, and nails her everytime,,, Carol Burnett and Cast Frigging Rule.
I hate to say it but Vickie Lawrence did her best Mama stuff with Eunice,Mickey and Ed.When Ken Berry joined Mamas family, he really missed the best Mama......I don't who I feel sorrier for Ed, or Eunice,to say they deserved each other is like saying America deserved Reagonnomics.
Pure comedy genius! I loved this show so much. What a shame it is not on any channel for viewing. Mama is such a hoot since she tells it like it is! Thanks for posting this.
lol I'd totally ring the bell that way and scream "sorry" if i was playing the game... haha LOVE it! Carol Burnett is brilliant. her show is the best. Vicki Lawrence plays Mama to a tee
out of all The Family skits that i've seen so far this has to be my favorite one. I loved it when Thelma said "well your mother may let you live in a garbage can". LMAO
My take on Eunice (for what it's worth)= I don't see her so much as a victim of others' faults as she is a 'victim' of her own self-centeredness. Lots of blame to go all around. Though these skits enjoy universal appeal (how couldn't they?), being from the South and raised within a middle to lower middle class milieu, I find them doubly halting. On a par with Tennessee Williams?- I'm not sure- but DAMN good stuff!
Hi, I can relate to Eunice for various reasons. Not really in the same way but kinda-sorta. A brief story of my life is I'm transgendered I'm male but have always identified as female, no transition yet. AND My grandparents are getting older so I stay with them and help them, drive them etc... Well once in a blue moon when my grandparent's kids *my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc come to visit I usually always end up in a fight with them.
Continued: I usually always end end up in a fight with them. For one thing they are jelouse of me b/c my grandparents have always been so good to me, WELL DUH!! I was th only one around.
Secondly they are not accepting of me being trans and don't treat me like the gender I am on the inside. And my transgenderism has kept me out of things I want to do, *Like Eunice acting* My Granny and me remind me of Eunice and Mama, but WITHOUT most of the conflict. Yeah, it's a pretty screwed situation.
Thanks for your support! Another way I can relate to Eunice is I've always LOVED acting, but in school I always gor denied the parts I wanted, I always wanted FEMALE roles and they'd tell me, "You're BOY you can't play a GIRL'S ROLE!!" Someday I hope to transition, I guess it's like Phillip told Eunice, I need to get off my butt and do it! LOL But sometimes I just don't even have the energy and think "What's the use!"
Oh and also I LOVE making skits in front of a vid camera, *bout all I can do now* But my aunt *one that I like* and I made a couple of Eunice and Mama skits where I play Eunice and she plays Mama, I'd LOVE to post those on here someday. One was where Mama and I *Eunice* go up to a mountain cabin to visit Ed *my uncle* and Mickey Hart *my dad* who are taking a "guys weekend vacation" Ed is not happy to see us and we end up spoiling their trip, HAHAHA.
And the other one I come over to take Mama to a sell at the RayMart and find get pissed after I find out she gave a pearl nacklace that was "promised to ME" to Ellen.
This is a great skit but I don't know why it's EVERYONE'S favorite, I think there were a lot more Eunice skits better than this one. I mean they don't do anything but play a game of Sorry in this.
Some of the best ones that stand out in my mind were the Gong Show skit, Mama's Birthday, The one where Eunice reunites with her high school friend *I liked that one b/c Eunice finally finds someone who takes up for her.
Hey 'pgy001' and 'friend in Eunice' ;) Appreciate your comments. Like you this isn't my ABSOLUTE favorite, yet against this simple Sawrry game backdrop for me is a very compelling 'psychological' drama playing out. And most hilariously I might add. Think we can all relate in one way or another to these characters, though hopefully on some subtler level.
Another 'comment' here: I hope this is the proper forum to request from Tab or anyone reading this. There was a skit I fondly recall (some 30 yrs. now since I've seen it) with Carol and Harvey as a couple reuniting in a restaurant- I believe she had just undergone a stay in a mental ward. (Continued below)....
(Continued from above)... As it progresses, all the little tics and mannerisms of the husband come rushing back to her in amplified form, causing her to reexperience mini episodes of her psychosis. Anyone recall, or have I missed this on YouTube somewhere? Thanks
Tab- I've benefitted so from your video postings of Eunice for months now, not having seen them for years, discovering yours, and reconfirming for me the superiority of these 'family' skits from Ms. Burnett's marvelous show, for which the follow-up series absolutely paled in comparison. This "Sawwry" skit, perhaps only second to the hilari-tragic "Gong Show" skit was lacking a while back- and I've just now discovered it here. Wow! These are treasures, and so are you. Thanks!!
Great skit, although I don't remember Sorry! having dice and a bell. I even checked this on wiki.

You would think one of the writers or cast or director or somebody would know
that Sorry is not a parlor game. It's a Board Game!
How can a show win an Emmy w/ such a glaring error?
Oh, wait, Carol won half a dozen Emmys. And various other awards including
a star on Hollywood Blvd. near the theater where she once was an usher.
Never mind.

You can't get better than this. Brilliant writing, ingeniously designed characters, and three kingpins of comedic talent playing them.

out of all The Family skits that i've seen so far this has to be my favorite one. I loved it when Thelma said "well your mother may let you live in a garbage can". LMAO

Next to "The Gong Show", this is my favorite pre-Mama's Family sketch!
Thanks to Carol Burnett, I always have a little bell to ring whenever playing Sorry with my family!

But when I saw the skit Of Eunice reuniting with Midge Gibson I was sure they'd end up in a fight, but I was SO glad they didn't.

Well once in a blue moon when my grandparent's kids *my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc come to visit I usually always end up in a fight with them.
pgy001 4 years ago
Continued: I usually always end end up in a fight with them. For one thing they are jelouse of me b/c my grandparents have always been so good to me, WELL DUH!! I was th only one around.
Secondly they are not accepting of me being trans and don't treat me like the gender I am on the inside. And my transgenderism has kept me out of things I want to do, *Like Eunice acting* My Granny and me remind me of Eunice and Mama, but WITHOUT most of the conflict. Yeah, it's a pretty screwed situation.

Good for you, pqy! All I can say is, very simply, always be true to yourself, and hold your head high above the fray. You go!
louiswendt 4 years ago

That's too funny! Sounds like "Brokeback Cabin" to me- and that 'RayMart' is a great touch. Post em!
louiswendt 4 years ago
And the other one I come over to take Mama to a sell at the RayMart and find get pissed after I find out she gave a pearl nacklace that was "promised to ME" to Ellen.

I don't think Eunice was a sore loser, it just got on her nerves the way Mama was constantly being SO bitter and Ed bragging.
Eunice had NO PROBLEM rejoycing when Mama rolled a high number and got a man out.

This is a great skit but I don't know why it's EVERYONE'S favorite, I think there were a lot more Eunice skits better than this one. I mean they don't do anything but play a game of Sorry in this.
Some of the best ones that stand out in my mind were the Gong Show skit, Mama's Birthday, The one where Eunice reunites with her high school friend *I liked that one b/c Eunice finally finds someone who takes up for her.
pgy001 4 years ago 2
Hey 'pgy001' and 'friend in Eunice' ;) Appreciate your comments. Like you this isn't my ABSOLUTE favorite, yet against this simple Sawrry game backdrop for me is a very compelling 'psychological' drama playing out. And most hilariously I might add. Think we can all relate in one way or another to these characters, though hopefully on some subtler level.
louiswendt 4 years ago
Another 'comment' here: I hope this is the proper forum to request from Tab or anyone reading this. There was a skit I fondly recall (some 30 yrs. now since I've seen it) with Carol and Harvey as a couple reuniting in a restaurant- I believe she had just undergone a stay in a mental ward. (Continued below)....
louiswendt 4 years ago
(Continued from above)... As it progresses, all the little tics and mannerisms of the husband come rushing back to her in amplified form, causing her to reexperience mini episodes of her psychosis. Anyone recall, or have I missed this on YouTube somewhere? Thanks
louiswendt 4 years ago
Tab- I've benefitted so from your video postings of Eunice for months now, not having seen them for years, discovering yours, and reconfirming for me the superiority of these 'family' skits from Ms. Burnett's marvelous show, for which the follow-up series absolutely paled in comparison. This "Sawwry" skit, perhaps only second to the hilari-tragic "Gong Show" skit was lacking a while back- and I've just now discovered it here. Wow! These are treasures, and so are you. Thanks!!
