You make some fair points. I work in the public sector trying to get people off benefits and into work and I do come across people who don't want to work, who are happy on benefits and families where this is generational. HOWEVER, this is the exception NOT the rule and one thing I was taught growing up is that you don't generalise and judge evryone the same. Just coz some people abuse benefits doesn't mean EVERYBODY does. Like yourself some people need and deserve it.

School funding for instance has been growing significantly faster then inflation for decades yet test scores have stayed flat and our international comparisons in academics are rather disturbing.

I know people who are very good at spotting deals despite being poor, or they know how to refurbish and repair items until they look brand new including fixing cars.
