I have been working on my Clan Family Johnstone Johnston Johnson for 1 year now might live in America but i am proud of my ancesters. NUNQUAM NON PARATUS...NEVER UNPREPARED!!
I appreciate what Jamesie said. I've seen so many "F-you Yank, you don't know, you're not a Scot, you don't live here", etc. Maybe it's because of the ignorance of many Americans, how we behave abroad, and seem to not take the time to really educate ourselves about what Scotland truly is. Don't be offended that there is a proud Scottish diaspora around the world. I'm proud to play the piobaireachd, to know the land, and to have made friends with many that live there. 'S Rioghal Mo Dhream.
I agree with everything he just said!! I'm a Pacific Islander who was born and raised in the U.S but I've been in love with Scotland since i was young. I love its history, land, attire, people, accent, culture and its breath taking beatiiful highlands! Now i'm in my early twenties and i own a collection of books all about Scotland ... I will go visit Scotland when i'm done with graduate school in 2 more years.. It has been my ultimate dream to see, feel, smell, touch, and taste that country! <3
the fact that my ancestor murdered mary, her cousin, breaks my heart. God rest mary's soul, and elizabeth's as well. our histories are so intertwined. we need to remember, and respect.
As a Sterling from America..I sure wish I knew more about our Scottish roots..All I know is since I was a babe I have LOVED the pipes...it's in the blood no doubt
Yeah give it another 10-20 years and Scotland will be wiped out from the pages of history.
Welcome to the age of Cultural Marxism, Multi-CULT-uralism and Die-versity.
Beating a dead horse, by the SNP are civic nationalist not Ethnic nationalists, they couldn't give a fucking toss about your Scottish blood or culture, they are the same Marxists attempting to ethnically cleanse of ethnic people from the west, but disguise themselves as nationalists.
My ancestors came to the US and settled in the Appalachia area (Virginia, West Virginia) and we're very very proud of our Scottish heritage. Being part of a family or clan of kinsmen (if not of blood, of a shared love) is greatly important. Thanks to Jamesie for putting it so well and to Albannach for bringing that taste of the "homeland" to us all!
My family is always proud...We're 90% highlander and we know it. It's in our bodies and souls. So your music strikes a chord like no other. It's a necessary war cry, in times like these. Argyl Campbell and Cameron Clan!
I'm canadian but still "Very Proud" of my Scottish ancestry & people think I'm crazy for it. Well said man.. (Takes shot of Glendfiddich) Cheers Buddy!
The back of your shirt gave me a thrill!! My famliy has been in America since before the Revolution, and I am very proud to say that they were mostly Scots. Family surnames: Crawford, Cunningham, Campbbell, McDougal & Steele (borderers)...Some were from the Highlands and some from around Lanark-Dunbarton.
Someday soon I hope to visit the home of my ancestors.
With my Father being the first sibling born in America, i have allows had strong ties to my Scots ancestry. My heritage comes from the Johnstone Clan/Freeburn Sect with direct ties to Sir James Johnston (1300-1400 era). So totally agree w/ the views of this video. It is very important that we do not lose sight of what & where we intially come from!
I am very proud of my Scottish herritage. I have ran the family lines so that we can know exactly where we have been and who we are. I am a direct decendant of Johnnie Armstrong; he's my 12 greats back grandfather. I make sure my kids know who they are and where the red hair in our family comes from. I am also learning to speak Gaelic so I can know the language of my ancestors and I will be focusing on the insular iron age as an archaeologist. We may be here, but our blood and souls never left.
I love this video, it is so inspiring! Yes I am American but I still feel ties and allegiance to the place my ancestors were from. I was told once that I was ridiculous for caring about Scotland because I am American and I replied what are we if we loose our heritage, our history. So many others in this country are of other ethnicities and races and can claim their roots so why should we not be able to? I am proud to be of Scottish heritage and if anyone asks I am foremost a Scottish-American!
I am Scots/German mostly and i'm from Ohio in the evil empire. I hate that people only think of Scots & Irish traditions during post-christian times. I am Pagan and truely proud of the culture & the legacy of my people. We are thousands of years worth of culture & tradition! We did'nt just crawl out from under a rock 1,500 years ago when christianity showed up, and started rewriting who we are.
Totaly agree with every word the guy said! too many kids in scotland and youbg people in general couldnt give a toss about Scotland. They care more about America. I have even heard some people trying to talk with an American twag! We need to make sure people want to learn more about our past.
@computers734 As a Southerner in the US of Ulster-Scots descent I couldn't agree more. There is a renewed interest in our people here in Dixie in our Scottish roots (most Southerners are of Scottish ancestry), which I see as a very positive thing in this bland, Americanised world - which I for one reject. I love what this band is doing. I wish more folks would hold tight to their traditions, roots & identities rather than trading them in for consumerism and whatever the latest pop star fad is.
@RedShirtArmy im from america (south carolina) 29 years old and i have rejected what america has stood for about six years now. alot of my peers are not like me in that sense, which is awful. we need to know our roots which is what i have been looking into for some years now.
The fact that we are Americans mean we came from somewhere else. I lived in Scotland for 2 years and tried to explain this to my Scottish friends. They didn't understand when Americans claimed a proud heritage to Scotland or other countries. I tried to explain that claiming Scotland didn't make us less Americans, just the opposite in fact. They didn't understand how I could embrace both. Then I really confused them when I claimed to be a Texan first and foremost, thats what Texans do.
Jamesie I wish you could talk to those who started the Facebook Page "Scottish NOT British" there are those who have said that if you don't live in Scotland you don't know S**T even if you have Scottish blood and live in America, that basically we are posers over here in the states. I actually left the site after leaving a few comments and ending with "Alba Gu Braith" I was told it only has meaning coming from someone from Scotland... with that I totally disconnected from the page.....
@bgoerke19 didnae listen to them wankers, its not your fault our ancestors we forced and burned outta thier highland homes and sent on ships to nova scotia. scottish blood is scottish blood, if my wife and i move to australia and have a child, he wont be australian, he will be scottish, raised in australian culture
