  • WHy do i watch this. I loved the movie but dont even watch that. Its to sad, makes me cry everytime....and I am a 25 year old male.

  • What the fuck why is there a video of a dog raping a cat on the right?

  • I love this movie but its so damn sad.

  • these onions just show up in every disney/pixar movies, damn.

  • I'm crying, and I'm a 15 year old jock, I'll admit it.

  • god damnit, got that damn cayenne pepper in my eyes again....fuck gotta go wipe it off.

  • ugh...crying...lol

  • I never teared to a single video, this is my first.

  • Came here from Taste of Awesome: "Disney told a better love story in a few minutes WITHOUT DIALOGUE than Stephenie Meyer did in 500,000 words"

  • @invisiblade Pixar works pretty independently from Disney

  • Oh Gosh, my face is wet with tears.

  • Anyone can look at a painting and see the shapes, but not everyone can understand what it means or why it was drawn.

  • It shows me how quickly life can pass you by, and before you know it, those dreams you once had as a kid, can't be done as its too late, too many commitments, job, kids, work, bills etc, I do love up!

  • @keyserheel You're looking at it in the sense of a movie's visuals instead of its meanings. It's not what the "cartoon" is trying to convey, but the context of what's going on through this couple's life. What I'm trying to say is, don't view it so much as JUST an animation, but more like life portrayed in animation.

  • @keyserheel .......I was gonna tell you how stupid you are, but since this was 3 months ago i'm sure you've had an epiphany and repented for your serious life crimes.

  • @YetiTurmoil

I doubt it my man...or girl...you seem to have set the bar really high for 'stupid'''good luck getting dressed in the morning..

  • @keyserheel Oh myyy, you are so clever. Saying that a cartoon has no depth or field of emotion...is just so stupid lmfao. it made people cry and you claim it has no field of emotion or any depth? ignorance is bliss.

  • Damn you Pixar.....y u make me cry?

  • Separated with a long-term girlfriend shortly before this movie came out. I can't watch it without breaking into tears.

  • Anybody who likes this:

Look up "Tsumiki no le" it's really similar.

  • I cry EVERY. TIME.

  • One of the most masterful things in the history of cinema.

  • I didn't really have a problem with this. Sure, she died, and that's not good but they lived together for 40+ years, had stable jobs at a nice zoo, there's no sign of them ever growing to loathe eachother like some couples. The wife died around 65-75 and age where most people die. Fertility problems aside their lives were was better than 3/4 of people who read this will be.

Now Grave of The Fireflies, THAT'S a heart rending animated movie.

  • I'm 53 years old. I was a sergeant in the US Army. I can't get past this montage without tears running down my face. My wife and I watched the movie with her 10 year old son; he heard us sniffling and turned around, astonished. "Why are you crying?" Ahhhhh, youth.

  • This 4:18 bit of film is priceless.

  • This to me is one of the most beautiful things ever set to film. Truly an expression of the love we all hope is possible in our lives. The music is so integral to the emotional response it elicits. Bravo Pixar and Michael Giacchino!

If this doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you must not be human.

  • I remember the first time I saw this montage. The part with Ellie at the doctor's...I'm a grown ass man, and I teared up.

  • The one person who disliked it can't possibly be human...

  • @TheBluesWhatBlues: I think that one dislike was made by a non-human CGI character.

  • i never cry at movies. never

and when i saw this, i just started sobbing

  • I decided to watch this again, thinking that I've seen it enough over these last two years to not have it affect me. I was wrong. I cried. And I hardly ever cry. I'd say that these are the most emotion four minutes and eighteen seconds ever put into film. Well done, Pixar.

  • It's only sad when you watch the beginning as well

  • 1 person dos'nt have a life!

  • hahah i always love the differences between the families at their wedding :D

  • @Bexahontas WOW! I never knew someone could cry in a doctor!

  • This movie had nowhere to go but downhill from here. Amazing montage.

  • @Telecaster17 i kind of agree. Out of all of the Pixar movies, I always thought Up was the worst. And people speak so highly of it, including critics. I don't understand why.

  • @ejwhite612 I know this is an old comment but had to respond. I don't think Telecaster17 was saying Up is bad. It's just that this might be the greatest 4+ minutes in animation history (possibly film history). I agree that the rest of Up is fun but not among the greatest Pixar films, but this montage is the best thing any animation studio has ever done.

  • This was the best part in the entire movie.

  • This is the only animated movie thats ever made me cry, and it was at the end of this part.:(

  • you don't get this kind of emotional resonance in g force

  • It is a great illustration of how movies, and in particular animation, can move us. Our ability to surrender to story telling is a mark of our humanism. Our ability to tell stories is a mark of achievement in human pursuits.

  • this is one of the greatest scenes in movie history (ar least for me), i dont think i have ever felt so much different emotions in 4 minutes by a movie, from happines to sadness, this and the final minutes from Toy story 3 are two of the most beautifull scenes ever, pixar = genius = movie magic

  • whats the name of this song??? please can someone tell me i want to play this on piano

  • 0:00-1:25 Awwww, they're so happy...

    1:26 - 1:50 Dear god!

1:51 - 3:20 Oho, no way, I see what you're doing here. They wouldn't go that far in a kids movie. You had me there for a minute Pixa-

    3: 21 - oh shit...

    3:59 - :'(

  • gracias por dedicármelo...

    Espero encontrar la casita....

  • 0 dislikes, thank goodness. I'd kill anyone who hits the red button

  • @Winterbyte think someone pressed it now just to piss you off

  • @mrcheekycheeks *suspicious face* Was it you? XD

  • @Winterbyte no lol, although I knew you'd think that hee hee i could never do that too this movie though its my favorite!!!!:D

  • I tried watching without the sound but but i still cried

  • I love how, at 00:35, the scenery behind the hill is much older than later on in the montage, and in time, which is shown in 03:19. It's just great how Pixar shows its attention to detail in everything it does!

  • @yankeesfan2627 oh... oh oh oh... i laughed, then i said "fuck you" then i laughed some more :D

  • This was the saddest Disney movie I've ever seen... but at the same time the happiest. I couldn't stop crying during this montage, and I cried again when he reopened the book and plenty other parts. Four times I cried at this movie, and it wasn't the little tears that welled up during Toy Story. I was sobbing.

  • I watched UP and was disapointed with the movie... because the first 10 minutes (to when he lifts off) was the best opening to any film I've ever seen.

This montage is beyond comparison. Takes you on a journey, shows you what being human is without uttering a simgle word.

I cannot praise it highly enough - genius.

  • @pukkahamer I'd agree, the montage was good...probably so good that the rest of the film could not hope to live up to it's beauty and wonder. The rest of the film felt adequate, decent after this stunning opener.

  • My Top 100 Films are all Pixar & Tarrintino movies :) 1. Toy Story 3 2. Wall-E 3. UP 4. Toy Story 5. Cars 6. Monsters, Inc. 7. Toy Story 2 8. The Incredibles 9. Ratatoullie 10. Finding Nemo 11. A Bugs Life

  • Show me another film sequence that can make you smile, tear up, cheer up and burst in tears again in just 4 minutes.

  • Even knowing what's going to happen makes me cry during the happy parts...

  • so touching...

  • This montage makes me sob. it's amazing.

  • Best 4 minutes of any movie, ever. It is absolutely perfect. It brings me to tears every time. It really shows the beauty of life.

  • this always makes me cry

  • This makes me cry :(

  • The ending... :_(

  • this was the only good thing Up had going for it... everything else was a huge dissapointment :/

  • At 17 years old, this was the first time I ever cried in a movie.

  • this scene completely destroys me everytime

  • I don't think any part of any animated film will ever come close to having such a profound effect on me as this montage. It is beyond beautiful. (The bit with her crying in the doctors sets me off every.single.time.

  • @Bexahontas Thats the exact same bit that just turns me into a wreck. :(

  • @Bexahontas I dunno the ending of toy story 3 completely destroyed me but this is still beautiful nonetheless.

  • This movie is depressing. It's all about death.

  • @Enderschoice It's about life actually

  • @Enderschoice news flash: so is life!

  • @epik151 But this is supposed to be a kid's movie, innit?

  • @Enderschoice No, it's not. It's a Pixar movie. The Pixar folks are interested in making good movies, not just "kid's movies".

  • @prsnth1111 AMEN!

  • damnit disney why must you make me CRY!

  • @drocksteady They're keeping Walt alive with the tears of children.

  • I would say Michael Giacchino is a God too.

  • This film raised some incredibly deep questions about the meaning of life. Is it better to pursue the adventures you've always desired or would you trade it all for a simple life with someone you love?

  • @djeclarke I'd give it all up for my sweetheart. That's for sure.

  • @djeclarke and yet as Ellie saw it, even if she never made it to paradise falls the adventure was living a wonderful life with her husband. yes they had their regrets and sorrows but she lived a full life.

  • @djeclarke I think he was happy with the choices he made, he just would have wished to have the time to pursue those adventures with her : (

  • @djeclarke I'd say the simple life :)

  • @djeclarke why not do both?

but I would trade adventures for a lifetime with one special somebody in a heartbeat

  • an amazing movie- i can't help but bawl whenever i see this=...(

  • Me too! In this movie I almost cry about 3 times. Its so touching!!

  • Me too; every time, without fail... such a great movie though :,)

  • This montage makes me cry every time.
