im doing my s.s project on this base. i wanna be a marine when im older so i figured id do my project on the marines. and this is wer ei ened up. anybody have info on this base? i mean like persnal info? okay that came out wrong to.
There isn't much to do outside of base. Everywhere you go will be surrounded by Marines. It's close to Camp Johnson which is where some of the MOS classes are held at. Admin gets the best barracks and the other schools are still in the old barracks. Tatts are expensive out there and everyone gets a moto tat there...It's not that fun in jacksonville, NC unless you know someone out there that knows the area and HAS A CAR!
To sekangel88, J-ville does suck if you are a Marine stationed there. I was there from 2001-2005. Be careful, that place has a tendency to turn halfway decent single guys into alcoholics. Why? No single women in Jacksonville (Marine wives whose husbands are deployed don't count IMO). Sure, there are towns around Camp Lejeune that you can go to, but they don't like Marines. Not trying to sap your motivation for the Marine Corps, but that town was #2 on my list for reasons of getting out.S/F
How is it there? My classmates from A school, most of them are going there. Then the others are going to camp pennelton California. I am a Navy Corpsman and may go to camp LeJeune in the future and would like an unbiased opinion about how things are there and how hard it is to pass everything down there.
it's lejeune...just do it and be ok...take care of your marines and yourself, and learn what you can...i was a corpsman there in 95-97...have fun and stay outta trouble...cheers and God bless, Doc.
Ahaha! i got lost in the base two weeks ago. I found myself in the barracks area.. i guess? My friend was trying to tell me how to get out of there... Well anyway i enjoyed it much..
This place is fun becuz of the marines! *drools* :-p
you are all way to nostalgic, I'm a grunt stationed here right now, I look out my window and I see the movie theater; my friends and I hate this place, thats why we drive at 200 miles every weekend to get away every weekend, the town is full of drug addicts, and the civilians in a 100 mile radius are dicks to marines
Yeah MARINE i understand how you fill, not much has changed around that town. but in 10-20 years down the road u might find it a lil interesting to see the place u hated back in the day. the civilians around all bases are usually the same. they have no respect. THANK You for taking time out of your life and filling the boots of your older Marine Brothers. GOD BLESS and Hang in there Bro. Rob
Reported to 1/6 on jan.1,1980. that night I took a cab into J-ville,wound up around court st. asked some jarhead "whats a movie-mate? he replied"Go in and find out, just like I did" I went in and some tattooed 40-somthin chick w/ bad teeth told me to take my clothes off and then she turned on a old 8mm porn flick and less than 5 min. later i was $40 poorer. When ever a boot newbie asked "whats a movie-mate? I replied"Go in and..................

This is the place we all wanna leave when we are there but also the place we wanna go back to when we are gone....I miss Camp Lejeune like crazy and I would give anything to go back over there
Camp lejeune base is a pain in the butt to get where you need to get since its HUGE. And the town is the boriest town ever. All they have is barber shop and tattoo shop every corner, also strip clubs and stuff like that for Marines. But also this town has the most good manner folks and Marines you would ever see.
I was so happy to get outta there...but after seeing this i kinda wish i would've stayed in place hasnt changed much since i left but i miss all the friends i made there
i was tyring to see how much it had changed and ran across this link. I was there with 8th Comm (alpha co) from 90-92, although we weren't there that much during that period. I haven't been back but would love to visit again. One roommate is now my brother-in-law and we keep in touch with a few of the gang. Many of good time with our crew of deginerates.Semper Fi.
Good ol' Camp Lejeune. I was stationed there from 79 to 83. (CommCo in French Creek) I went back to visit in 87, and haven't been back. I really miss the people I was stationed with who made it all worth while. Semper Fi Devil Dogs!!
wow i was stationed at lejune from september 26 1976 to nov 23,1979 bravo company 1st battallion 2nd marines weapons platoon,i was a 60mm mortors we were almost next to the big movie theater at main side are those buildings still there our are they memories, would like to return to remmenise about the younger years of my life and check out court street in j-ville tattoo parlors titty bars etc etc drop me an comment if things have changed its been 30years since i last saw that base.
I was stationed there from 1998-2001. I had some good times and some bad time but it made me a stronger women for every trial I went through. After seeing this video I makes me miss the friends I made and the weekend roads trips. But one thing i don't miss is the 5:15 PT formations. LOL
This is a wonderful video. Was stationed there and as crazy as it sounds, I miss it. Im sure it wouldnt take long to want to leave again if I was moved back on base though. LOL ;)
Never thought I'd miss it but after being in 29 Palms for the last 4 years, makes me wanna go back! Gotta luv some of those signs along the fence by Midway Pk! Semper Fi!
Wow! What a blast from the past. I was there in 1980-82 with I Co. 3/6 by swoop circle on "K" St. Hey,does anybody know if Court St. is still kicking with all the seedy bars and clubs?
hey prime, started my 4 years there in 1985, court street was a hotspot then, but i heard and read on the net they shut down the street and put city hall there with a police station.

Semper Fi buddy. I was there from 1980-1982 with India Co. 3/6 on "K" st. right by swoop circle. Use to go to the big base theatre all the time and Court St. had joints like "birdland","tino's" and "Speedos" I also use to go to the Cardinal Theatre on Lejuene Blvd. Really miss it and heard it's all changed now. I also miss Camp Schwab in Okinawa.
I was a kid when my dad gave 20 years to the Corp. We used to live up on Maryland Ave for a couple of years and I will never forget the return of the Marines after Desert Storm.
Thank you for the video. It was nice to be able to see the base. I was born at Lejeune in 68. In 2007, I was diagnosed with male breast cancer at the age of 39. I do not carry the heriditary BRCA markers and the disease is nowhere else in my family. During the time of my mother's pregnancy, we were exposed to VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in the base drinking water. The contamination ran from the 1950's until March 1987. Hey Camp Lejeune Marines - focus - respect
PLease pass the word to media it is spoken Camp Luh JERN
How did this disrespect ever start ... and why are a few slow to remedy this great Marine's name.
We all like our names respected.
Marines are about respect & honor. Do your home work. It is the only way to say the name.
General Lejeune's (luh jern's) history is honored once again.\Thanks George Barrows - GAB too
