You do have to hide sometimes, especially when you lose your directions and start running in circles.

hiding is pointless once the raw shocks even get close to the spot they stick around and all regroup until they magically find you its better to just keep running.

Actually sometimes, when they are right on top of you, it is good to hide so you can rest... then battle them again when they pull you back out, otherwise they will just chase you down and kill you, especially if you are lost and need to collect your thoughts.
