Once at a concert in Wichita I jumped up on stage to dance with Rick (along with several other girls). He was singing this song & looking right at me. I looked him straight in the face & mouthed the words "I love you!" He turned away & shook his head. I think I made him smile! Maybe even blush? Awesome!
remember an old girlfriend constantly listened to this album, while i was rockin to iron maiden. must have sunk in somewhere cause i still have a copy of it in my collection. go figure...
Damn I loved Rick when I was young. My parents were so pissed when I called "his" 800 number over & over again!!!!! This is the video that started the hatred of any music I listened to!
HELP!!! I REALLY REALLY REALLY want the song "Me And Johnny" on my mp3, but cannot find it anywhere! Is there a reason it's no where to be found on line? As i write this it's dawning on me that i actually have the cd somewhere.. But if i can find it, will i get in trouble for loading it? HELP
@KiraKisa100 the pirate bay.org. By installing a bit torrent down loader then using pirate bay just click on audio in the search menu u wanna put Rick Springfield discography. and there u will get it all. Now all that being said it is an illegal download but hey if u were into this album like i was in the 80s its worth it. i can also mail u a copy if comes to that, unless u have a better idea. let me know if i can help.
I still remember the cover of his album " Working Class Dog " with the little dog on the cover dressed in a shirt and tie, lol. That was big time back then, and he graced us all with a lot of good music that defined the decade. Rock on Rick !
I had a huge poster of RR in my room when I was a teenager in the 80's I was gaga over him. I used to wait up till midnight waiting for MTV to show his videos. And that would cause me a lot of loss sleep. All just to see him. No tivo yet back then. ;-)
When we were teens my friends & I used to change the title and sing it "I found a hair in my fart". Amazing how funny that seems after sharing a case of Shaeffer's beer! Now, not so much. ;-)
Great song, still love hearing it today just as I did 28 years ago, when I bought a copy on a 12 inch single (extended version) record. Does anyone else remember records ? I still have all of mine, mostly from the '80's, and some from the '70's. My copy of this song plays a bit faster than this version, a little bit more up-tempo, don't know why, it just does. Perhaps that was how they mixed it & released it here in Oz. My kids love it when I play it loud, on my Hi-Fi Stereo, best sound bar none
When I was young in the early 80's I wanted to play guitar. Before Prince I was rick springfield do it and i really didn't hear him play. I know he knows how to play but he alot of the time just does rythym. Even if your just doing rythim and in the front lines of a band, chicks did the guitar. I wish I had more pation to really play.
I know Rick's bread and butter was teen pop songs. But this song prove me and others wrong. This song is KICK ASS!!! I would like to see him perform this song.
this song gives me the goosebumps...when I was very young I used to listen to almost all of Rick Springfield's songs..I forgot most of the song titles and just remember some lines or parts of the song..but when I opened this video I realized that this was the song I have been looking for..thanks!
@donaldagoncalves Until you walk a mile in someones shoes, try not to throw stones. We ALL have our issues, his are only a big deal because he is famous. Wonder what your skeletons could tell us?
@donaldagoncalves Who cares, are you as famous as he is and do you have as much money as he does? Everybody has issues, including you even though I don't know you, hell I know I do. No feelings were meant to be hurt, I apologize in advance if they were.
I came upon my mothers album Beginnings when I was 3 (She would play it). Dancing around to Hooky Joe. I am 35 now and finally last year I got his autograph on that album. I have loved this wonderful musician of a man My entire life. Running home from 1st grade to see General Hospital. Even at 6 I knew he was a musician and not a soap star...But hey RS every day on TV I was gonna watch. I just hate when people say the guy from GH..No The Musician!

Was on GMA today.Still gorgeous and I'm gonna get his book.He was so hot on General Hospital and then Jessie's Girl happened all at the same time.1983 was my last year of high school he was hot then. Not so bad now either.
Does anyone else remember the extended outro version of this song? It didn't fade out at the end - Rick sang another chorus and the vocals stopped, then the song ended similar to beginning of the song - with the keyboards. It was played on album rock radio in 1983. I can't find this version anywhere.
I was in LOVE with Rick Springfield when I was a teenager back in the 80's, he was like 35 or something, but who cares, he was awesome! He probably still is, I just dont follow what he's doing these days...........
This video and song are just awesome! The way the energy of this song builds up from the verse to the chorus is just about as good as it gets. I bet it was fun to be one of the people in the crowd when this was filmed. Sometimes I just wish I could go back to the 80s just to be immersed in the music....I was born in '86 so I don't remember too much from then!
"When we make love, it's a passionate thing. You shudder and shake, sink your teeth in my skin. I almost believe you were made to be played by my hand." Those have to be some of THE sexiest lyrics ever!!
reminds me of the days when music was music .....I was a teen when his songs were out , I have so many gr8 memories of listening to his music with my friends sitting on my friends porch on the Elmwood Strip watching the local punk rockers in that area walk by and just livin
@mnljh711986 Loved ur comment. I'm a proud Gen-Xer, and I miss life before the internet, cellphones, Fox News/MSNBC, terror threat levels, airport patdowns, school shootings, home invasions. Life wasn't perfect then, but it was still a simpler time. Pop music was so diverse--no auto-tune, pro-tools or the same generic club beats. And people weren't so defined by technology (Farcebook/incessant texting), slutty fashion (rap videos, Kardouchian), and money (McMansions, SUVs) like they are today.
i always liked this guy when i was a kid growinng up...I love the guy with the HSS fender strat with the floyd rose as well...im going to have the same guitar but modified for 2010 with EMG's in it...in the bridge its going to be a 18 volt mod to the EMG 81 its going to sound HOT

@greeneyes696911 Yep! Just saw him over Spring Break actually. Danny's a really awesome guy. This song is what got him his big break into the music business. :)
He was virtually unheard of where I come from, and in the 80's it was really difficult getting his albums and posters etc. I certainly didn't have acces to videos and concerts. It used to drive me mad cos friends and family kept buying me Bruce Springsteen items thinking it was the same person. NO! NO! NO!!!!
1st concert i ever went to was rick springfield in baltimore maryland @ the balt civic center on dec 10 1983 and i still have the shirt from the ( living in oz ) tour.....
Does anybody know what synthesizer was used to produce this short & agressive pad-sound? JP-8? Prophet-5? (the bass- & spheric-sound are from a Prophet-5)
oh kenny i wish you were here!!!! iluv rick but when i hear him i imagine him you and i get off.. sorry bu t rick's voice is so sexy and so are you kenny i luv you
Yeah so crazy as i am a guy growing up in the 80's and this was one of my 1st albums, and still the riffs from this song kicks ass and words hit so deep.
Jessie's Girl totally launched his singing career, but Living in Oz totally was an amazing album. Now his latest CD, "Venus in Overdrive" truly shows Ricks songwriting ability and his talent for music. Rick is totally amazing, I sure love his style and most of all I love him...Sorry Barb, I bet you are used to it by now.
Jessie's Girl was what was called a "turntable" hit. The radio stations were paid to play the song but it was so bad no one bought it. Not to mock your tastes or anything, sometimes after years go by and constant airplay people like a song. One time I had a Beach Boys cd just to check them out and a guy I work with said he never listened to them in the 60's, they weren't cutting edge enough back then! They liked Zepplin and the Stones! Guess I had to be there. Haha.
Maybe you oughta get your facts straight, eh? That incident was never prosecuted and in fact was dropped by both wife and sister in law. He and his wife have been married for over 20 years and by all accounts seem happy and committed to their marriage and family.
so your saying spusal abuse isnt abuse unless its been brought to trail and procecuted?...i dont really care...Im 37 and i recall him at his peak when i was 11...he had his time in the 80s...and he was good..but he was a pretty boy...this is why he was not taken seriously in the rock world..you cant be noah drake and a rockstar...that might have flown back then but it wouldnt work now...but agian ultimatly it doesnt matter..and yes...i am hotter than he is..lol
@magnetomikey hell yeah he is. OMG he was hot then but he is still super hot. check out Rick Springfield guest starring on Californication with David Duchovny. Rick is still fucking SEXY.
I missed this guy playing at the big E in springfield but I think it would have been a good show. Its like some kindo f pretty boy metrosexual 80's something.
Ya notice how he looks in the camera when he says "Burning to make love to you"; always a hot tease, that Rick:)

Does anybody know what synthesizer was used to produce this short & agressive pad-sound? JP-8? Prophet-5? (the bass- & spheric-sound are from a Prophet-5)

Dont forget Jessie's Girl that was awesome too :)

Haha.

I was a fan then n i'll remain a fan today... Thanx for the comment.

@sprintbass
Maybe you oughta get your facts straight, eh? That incident was never prosecuted and in fact was dropped by both wife and sister in law. He and his wife have been married for over 20 years and by all accounts seem happy and committed to their marriage and family.

@SpringfieldFan
so your saying spusal abuse isnt abuse unless its been brought to trail and procecuted?...i dont really care...Im 37 and i recall him at his peak when i was 11...he had his time in the 80s...and he was good..but he was a pretty boy...this is why he was not taken seriously in the rock world..you cant be noah drake and a rockstar...that might have flown back then but it wouldnt work now...but agian ultimatly it doesnt matter..and yes...i am hotter than he is..lol
sprintbass 1 year ago
@sprintbass I've seen real spousal abuse. IMO what he did was not spousal abuse. You can read the docs on Smoking Gun FYI.
