Until members of the Congress and State officials get off of their backsides and do something you can only expect more of the same. Ask the Native Americans. I am a native of Hatteras Island and am totally aware of the impact this will have on folks still living there. It is pathetic to say the least.

The park service sends professionals out to check on the birds and wildlife and keep violators out of the areas...

Now no one is allowed to drive cars just in case they hit a bird in flight..you must all walk...the best way to stop silly stuff is make sigins and place them next to roads so everyone can see...

The first mistake was taking the Goverments word for it. Just ask the Native Indians. Carol, Your fault, their fault, nobodies fault. What we have here is a failure to communicate. The problems started when somebody said "HEY! , I got an Idea" how we can make some money. Then you built the dunes, the bridge, Hwy 12, the jettys, the Life Guard Station. And people found the Outerbanks. No longer my favorite fishing hole. Outsider looking in. I have a plan. For both sides. That will work.

The Park Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, Audobon, Defenders of Wildlife, & SELC are manipulating the judicial system. This is rural gentrification. They want to privatize Cape Hatteras. The Bonner Bridge, Regulations on Red Drum, & the "Consent Decree" are strategic moves to close Hatteras down to the public. Carol is right when she says the government can do this to anyone. This can happen anywhere w/out input from the public. Going "green" doesn't mean we have to shut everything down.

The issue isn't abot developement. It's about people using a public Beach. It's a RECREATIONAL area not a wild life refuge. As a recreational area no homes, condos or anything else can be built there anyway. The Park Sevice won't even let people walk there fish or even BE on the beach.
