Dear everybody who wants to try this,

It requires a LOT of training for a bird to fly back to it's owner. Don't take your unclipped parrot outside, it will fly away and NEVER come back.

@ davewomach do you breed? my mom and her ex did for like 7 years before they broke up... now we have a pionus and an umbrella cocatoo along with 2 cocatiels. not to mention outside of the bird room we have 3 fish 1 bet and 2 minnows. the minnows were feeder fish that i used for a school project that survived so i couoldn killem. also we have a snake and i should be getting a frog soon.

If you have a poultry farm, it would be normal poultry are kept intact. .. clip their wings is deprived of his freedom! ... but if you don't cut these birds wings is perfect! Thank you. If you are keeping one as a pet, it might be easier to handle and train if you clip them. I think clipping them has many more +positives than --negatives. I have a Macaw farm, my job is to cross-breed them. Your bird will be wild and untamed if you leave them un-clipped. Just my opinion.

Just a few weeks ago, I learned the hard way that regardless of how well-trained a bird is, the unthinkable can happen. I can't count how many times we'd taken my Sun-Jenday conure outdoors- without incident- and all it it took was one time of him getting spooked at an empty school soccer field to almost cause tragedy. He got spooked and spent 27 hours in the woods...it's amazing he survived such a cold, wet Alaskan night.
