I would not be able to bare it. If somebody were to euthanize their children, they'd also be making sure that things could *never* improve for them. In such a case like this, when it is CHILDREN, their tolerance for pain is far less than a grown man. It was a groundbreaking work when it was published; one of the first modern scholarly works on the famine and maybe the first to assert the idea that the famine was genocide. This was 1985 before Ukrainian scholars were able to research and speak their minds on the matter and before a lot of documents were available to scholars (Yushchenko just opened some 5000 documents to scholars last year).
