  • Great performance and recording. Thanks for sharing.

  • This piece is the sole reason I play the organ. I heard it one day, loved it and decided I had to learn to play that. I can play a part of it, but I'm still far away from learning it all. Beautiful performance! Lots of good inspiration for me. Thank you. :)

  • Such a stunning piece...

  • this music's so good that MegaMan Juno won't ever stop smiling! xD

  • That was really cool. I almost started to cry there for a second!

  • Bach was a BEAST. I'm not a music person, but I absolutely adore organ music and Bach knew the organ better than anyone.

Gorgeous performance on a gorgeous instrument with a gorgeous sound. Superoctave, you freakin' rule. Rock on.

    ~Ax

  • this is really well done as a musician i can appreciate quality skill and this is certainly that

  • A+ Performance, one of the best I have seen anywhere (in RL and online).

  • Good performance, i've played this piece too, and I like your interpretation. It would be great if you could play this piece on a larger organ, it would sound even better!

  • NOT A SINGLE MISTAKE! FANTASTIC / FLAWLESS PERFORMANCE!!!!!!

  • Omg, this piece in organ is just something out of this world!

  • Wow!

  • Beautiful!

  • "Simply a masterpiece!", approved by Mega Man Juno.

  • This was a great rendition of this piece. No superlatives can ever do Bach any justice. Great job!

  • I go to St. Johns!

  • I adore the instrument you use to play this... especially when the the subject enters in the Bass. There's nothing like that ostinato rumbling in your chest. most of the other renditions I hear of this have it played on a wussy organ with no power in the bass at all.

  • Love the aeolian skinner, too bad the acoustics are not so great in this space, Great Job on the peice

  • Magical . . .

  • great job! this is one of the best recordings i've heard.

  • very nice in deed! i can just imagine how hard it must have been to play this, and u have played it very nicely.

    bach forever!!

  • J.S. Bach, and especially this piece, are proof that God exists.......

  • Two words: VERY BEAUTIFUL!

  • I love this. I is truly amazing, Every time I hear it I am speechless.

  • organsmic!

  • The countersubject in this fugue is what beauty is made of.

  • im 12 and i love it

  • For some reason i really like this song! It just

gets me excited for some reason! Almost like

if im in a whole new world! amazing piece of music!

  • That was great!!!!!

  • Esta fuga es muy,muy grande.Enorme conceptualmente.Interpretacion fabulosa.

  • "Not your best performance..." I'd like to see what your best is, because this is amazing.

  • Fantastic rendition! Fifty bazillion stars!

  • i used to play in an ensemble with Tony Mergel as our conductor/teacher because it was a class and we played this fugue together it was my favourite of all the songs we did thanks so much for uploading i look forward to more wonderful songs from you!

  • great piece. took me a while to get used to it but its now one of my favorites.

  • very good sir

  • GOD DAMN I LOVE FUGUES

  • Brilliant piece, very difficult to play as well. It reminds me of the derivation of a mathematical equation where the final chord represents the solution to a problem.

  • "Not your best performance"? You're kidding, I hope.

  • I am speechless! It's amazing

  • Fantastic. Amazing. I'm having a hard time finding words to describe how amazing that was.

    Bravo

  • crappy recording quality, but great playing

  • only thing missing is the great echo from a huge cathedral.... very nice!

  • YES!

  • Very well done. I hope you continue uploading you masterfulness work.

  • Virtuosic!

  • Yeah!!!

  • this terrific BRAVO! BRAVO!

  • a very nice playing ...

  • in my opinion too this is the best recording online- excellent playing!

  • It is the best performence of this fugue in all youtube, but "little" fugue is easier to hearing than "the great"

  • Bach the way it should be played, the right tempo

  • OH MY GOD. Just how the HELL does he play that? hmm? anyone? lol how does any ONE person play something as stunningly difficult as that!?

  • dude this awesome you can use this as a sample

  • i love this peice GO BACH

  • the best moment for me is from 2:25 to 2:45

  • I love this piece thx for uploading

  • Technique and musicianship is awesome. Some things like being played absolutely square, and this is one of them. The trills are absolutely on meter, the velocity is perfect and regular, it is a joy to listen to. This is not to be played on a guitar or by a rock band.

  • More than 20 years ago I've arranged this fugue for wind instruments. We've played it with students' brass band, I was a conductor and have got excellent grade at my exam :)

Brilliant piece of music! A perfect, genius performer!!! Thanks for posting very much.

  • I completely agree!

  • Beautiful!

  • very good !

  • Most metal classical piece ever.

  • Wow...this is amazing...Heard this first in my History of Music lecture...this is amazing

  • Hey, THIS is why I haunt YouTube! Beautifully done, beautiful organ and great sound quality. Bravo!

  • it was so good that listening to the first 20 seconds immediately gave me the chills

  • Nice job.

  • On the performance, i am doing this piece for a concert here soon and i am jealous!!! well played.

  • That was great. I have heard this played live by a classically trained organist, best fugue ever. Thanks.

  • excellent

  • Bach was so gifted. I wish another person like him would come along for some other art form.

  • Stupendous

  • awesome, it is a real challenge to play this!

  • Ahhh this type of music just makes my soul fly! Very very very good job.

  • I have been listening to this song a lot lately for my "introduction to music" class in college. I have a professional recording on a CD but I have to say this is so much nicer to listen to and I believe it's better played than my recording. The trills are so clean and the whole song is flawless. This is beautifully done.

  • Thank you for posting this. It helped me prepare for a music test. Very well played!!

P.S. (Five stars if I could!)

  • My favorite fugue. I originally heard it as a transcription for brass quintet, but it's still much more at home on a real organ.

    Kudos on the excellent performance.

  • i love this piece! i's so inspiring and oddly calming

  • best Little Fugue video I've seen on YouTube.

  • Thank you all for your very kind comments about this piece and this performance.

This was actually one of my first pieces to learn on the organ years ago, and it's still always joy to play!

  • This song is nothing short of awe inspiring; I can only imagine how long it took to master such a work of art.

  • That was spectacular! My show choir is singing this :D On bums and da's of course! But, still, I love the bass part... Organ is an octave lower than we have to sing it o.o

  • Awesome, I am actually transposing this to guitar, I can only hope to play it that well with practice.

  • Absoloutly marvelous. I wish I had the patience to learn to play "The King of Instruments", but alas, its a virtue. Maby I'll start before I'm 21. This is my favorite piece by Bach, and it was played very well. At first I couldn't find a video of BWV 578 that was as good as Ton Koopmans, but this one in my opinion was better! Very lively, but yet not over the top. Excellent job Mr. Octave.

  • Simply amazing!! Hearing something as difficult as this just makes me think about how little most non-musicians appreciate something as being this difficult. It's kind of a shame how someone that doesn't know much about music or hasn't tried an instrument could sit through an amazing performance like this bored... Anyway, AMAZINGLY done!!! Inspires me to want to learn organ lol.

  • Wow, thank you very much for that!

  • How is it I've never heard of you? Your performance is superb.

  • Why disabling the rating, superoctave?? I think this video would get a high rating. I can't find many other interpretations better than this one. Well, in my preference, that is, of coz.

  • Hi Raven1234!

Thanks for your kind words and compliments. I don't have the ratings turned on for personal reasons, but I appreciate the thought.

    -SuperOctave

  • This really is an outstanding performance of this piece

  • Hey nice job keeping the statement's articulation consistent! That can get tricky, eh? :)

  • really good. oh i love this song!! very good.brilliant.

  • beautiful. Even though the texture is so heterophic? there's something very calming yet stimulating at the same time.

  • very good playing indeed, like hope I'm not offending you but...the organ sounds a little out tune. :D

keep on posting more of these vids there very good. :D

  • Best performance, registration correct.

Yes... excelent. I do not like trill of 01:10.

  • Thanks for your comment!

    There's not a trill at 1:10...

  • Simply delightful! Keep up the posting...

  • Nice job!!! Hope to hear more organ works from you! =]

  • Wow.

    Nothing else to add.

  • awesome.

hope to see (hear) someone play this in person one day..

  • A great job! Your staccato is perfect and the pedaliter is very clear.
