This piece is the sole reason I play the organ. I heard it one day, loved it and decided I had to learn to play that. I can play a part of it, but I'm still far away from learning it all. Beautiful performance! Lots of good inspiration for me. Thank you. :)
Good performance, i've played this piece too, and I like your interpretation. It would be great if you could play this piece on a larger organ, it would sound even better!
I adore the instrument you use to play this... especially when the the subject enters in the Bass. There's nothing like that ostinato rumbling in your chest. most of the other renditions I hear of this have it played on a wussy organ with no power in the bass at all.
i used to play in an ensemble with Tony Mergel as our conductor/teacher because it was a class and we played this fugue together it was my favourite of all the songs we did thanks so much for uploading i look forward to more wonderful songs from you!
Brilliant piece, very difficult to play as well. It reminds me of the derivation of a mathematical equation where the final chord represents the solution to a problem.
Technique and musicianship is awesome. Some things like being played absolutely square, and this is one of them. The trills are absolutely on meter, the velocity is perfect and regular, it is a joy to listen to. This is not to be played on a guitar or by a rock band.
More than 20 years ago I've arranged this fugue for wind instruments. We've played it with students' brass band, I was a conductor and have got excellent grade at my exam :)
Brilliant piece of music! A perfect, genius performer!!! Thanks for posting very much.
I have been listening to this song a lot lately for my "introduction to music" class in college. I have a professional recording on a CD but I have to say this is so much nicer to listen to and I believe it's better played than my recording. The trills are so clean and the whole song is flawless. This is beautifully done.
That was spectacular! My show choir is singing this :D On bums and da's of course! But, still, I love the bass part... Organ is an octave lower than we have to sing it o.o
Absoloutly marvelous. I wish I had the patience to learn to play "The King of Instruments", but alas, its a virtue. Maby I'll start before I'm 21. This is my favorite piece by Bach, and it was played very well. At first I couldn't find a video of BWV 578 that was as good as Ton Koopmans, but this one in my opinion was better! Very lively, but yet not over the top. Excellent job Mr. Octave.
Simply amazing!! Hearing something as difficult as this just makes me think about how little most non-musicians appreciate something as being this difficult. It's kind of a shame how someone that doesn't know much about music or hasn't tried an instrument could sit through an amazing performance like this bored... Anyway, AMAZINGLY done!!! Inspires me to want to learn organ lol.
Why disabling the rating, superoctave?? I think this video would get a high rating. I can't find many other interpretations better than this one. Well, in my preference, that is, of coz.
Great performance and recording. Thanks for sharing.

Bach was a BEAST. I'm not a music person, but I absolutely adore organ music and Bach knew the organ better than anyone.
Gorgeous performance on a gorgeous instrument with a gorgeous sound. Superoctave, you freakin' rule. Rock on.

My favorite fugue. I originally heard it as a transcription for brass quintet, but it's still much more at home on a real organ.
