  • this and 3rd rock from the sun,i'm going down load and start watching

  • Does anybody know when its supposed to take time?

  • @idig In the late 1800,around 1876 cause Laura was born in 1867.

  • OK I finally get it little Joe (from Bonanza) married Caroline then changed his name to Charles Ingalls.... I feel so smart right now. :P

  • Ok

  • Weird Suggestion. Watch the last episoide in episode nine and then watch this one. It shows you all the change!

  • What kind of motor was used back in those days to run the kind of saw at 1:46 ? Didn't seem to be located close to a river/watermill ...just curious

  • @kdosvol284 It's a watermill. You can see it in the middle right part of the screen at 1:45

  • @map8oula Ah! You're right. Thanks. Thought maybe there was some interesting steam thingy or something...

  • These first episodes are the best.Season 1 was the best.Men of this time just like Charles had values, they weren't afraid to work a lot and break their backs just to bring food on the table. They loved truly their family and kids too, were strict sometimes but fair. They never gave up like men nowadays.Men and women today have given up on many plans, like upbringing, work and perseverance. They believe in nothing and their children are lost.It is not surprising that youth is lost today.

  • @fisteberg ~ Well said, well said indeed....I wish times were like this again....Where have all the good hard working men and women gone....smdh ~ and kids who respected their parents and feared God ~ So sad this world has went and got itself up in a big hurry and nobody cares about nobody, that's when why when someone does something good its plastered all over the airwaves, while that's great and all shouldn't that be something we do everyday ~ as human beings ~ Novel idea I think ~

  • Men were so strong and were able to do anything and everything they had to do to help their family survive, breaking their backs everyday just to put food on the table. Watching shows nowadays, our culture has turned men into a bunch of pussywhipped schmucks that get put down by their wives and even kids on a daily basis. Charles Ingalls is close to non-existant.

  • @fantasyknuckleheads You have touched on the very important issue of misandry in today's society. The current socio-cultural trends and values have eroded fundamental gender and family dynamics to the point of utter chaos between the sexes and within families.

  • Wow... their house looks so different brand new here! I'm used to the later seasons when the house is all weathered.

  • Ah, watched this show as a kid in the late 70s/early 80s. I really loved it. It was such a great show, still is. Watching it now reminds me of how much different life was even when I was a kid.

  • Charles has good carpenting skills, I'll give him that but MY grandpa was WAY better, he built a grand log house! :) it's so beautiful...

  • thanks for uploading!! whats the episode called when this girl falls in love with andy garvey but andy doesn't like her. but albert likes her??

  • It's funny how Charles says he always likes to pay cash but it also seems like he buys things on credit a lot! That's probably how farmers had to do it until the crop came in.

  • i actually like Mrs. Olson in this scene. And I agree with her.

  • @MNsportsguru Don't worry about it, Stinkfoot is an officious meddler, and a most obnoxious one at that. His historical knowledge is not nearly as good as most kids.

  • @stinkfootzep I don't know why the real Charles Ingalls didn't fight in the Civil War, perhaps Laura sheds some light on that in her books but I doubt it. Speaking of historical knowledge, how could he have possibly fought under Generals Longstreet or Ewell? Both were Confederate Corps Commanders of Virginia! I doubt if Ingalls ever went to VMI or spent any time in Virginia. He lived in Dakota, Iowa, kansas, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Go wash your feet!

  • @mustwinder THIS TAKES PLACE LIKE 20 YEARS AFTER THE CIVIL WAR. THEY HAD PHONES IN 1880.

AND BACK EAST IN 1889..OLDSMOBILE WAS THE FIRST AMERICAN CAR !! HISTORY IS TO LEARNED, AND...

THAT, IS TODAY'S LESSEN. LAURA ....THE REAL ONE....PUT A LOT OF "KNOWLEDGE / HISTORY / HOW TO 'S '

IN HER BOOKS !!! LITTLE HOUSE...WAS 'KOOL '!!!

  • @420weedking Ummm...ok, but you don't have to shout.

  • @stinkfootzep You might need to look up the definition of "bum."

The Ingalls were clearly willing to work in exchange for the goods they needed. See, back in those days, there was this thing called "Bartering," which was trading without exchanging money...exactly what the Ingalls were trying to do (and did do.)

Please go grab a dictionary and learn a few new words... and make sure you know the definition of the words you do use.

  • @stinkfootzep The ingalls were new to walnut grove and came to a town w FRIENDLY people helping them out and trying to b there friends whats wrong w that, plus charles was hurt.

  • @stinkfootzep: If you'd looked carefully enough you'd have seen that another user asked about it and that's why I answered. It's not about how old the movie is but about how old the actor playing the wizard of Oz would have been at the time this episode of Little House was filmed. And that's why your post doesn't make any sense anyway! You didn't understand a single THING!

  • I forgot how hot Ma Ingalls was/

  • I some times think that people were too busy to have affairs, fall out of love with each other, or mess each other about, or argue much at all back then. you got married, worked hard and then died. Not much time for anything else except working to keep your family alive. a roof over their heads, food on the table and clothes on their backs. not to mention the education and the religious guidence.

  • @Rowan07001484 Interesting point. There's that old expression, "Idleness is the devil's workshop" that would apply I guess.

  • @Rowan07001484

as much as I love the stories of the Ingalls family, I think you're glorifiying those days. They were having affairs, they were arguing, and if they weren't it was probably because the father would simply get violent and abusive if somone dared to argue with him. My grandma still can't understand why I left my husband who was cheating on me although he never drank, he'd always feed the kids and has never beaten me up. That's the thinking of those good, old days. On average.

  • Karen Grassle was perfect as Caroline. So patient with the children. Kind to everyone, and submissive, not arguing with Charles. She had plenty of things to be worried about, but you seldom see her without a smile on her face or worrying Charles.

I wish I could be more like her.

  • OMG, isn't Mr. Hanson the Wizard from The Wizard of Oz? xD

  • @XxSadisticWraithxX: No, not at all! The actor playing Mr. Hanson is Carl Swenson. The Wizard of Oz - if you're talking about the 1939 movie - was played by Frank Morgan who died in 1949 (and if he'd been alive in 1974 when this episode was filmed he'd have been 84 years old).

  • clariebear2 im a huge fan of little house used to watch all the time when i was little, the ingalls family are an inspiration and great role model to all, its such a shame that families arent like this anymore, it didnt take much in those days for to make people happy, over the decades since these days people have got extremely selfish and money hungry.

  • you how many times it happens in LHOTP that some one goes lie on the bed and some one else is getting him something or whatever and then the person that lies on the bed is asleep.

  • Damn, this is so old! I've watch it in 1990 or something like that, so it was already 20 years old, and I'm watching it once again now, so it's almost 40 years old movie! But I remember that I loved it very much :)

  • Could somebody plz tell me what the epi. is called wen a boy fakes being blind 2 keep his family 2gether

  • omg, thx so much for up loading and sharing these lovely series....!!!

  • oh i love little house on the praires .nothing ever is like than those episodes.

  • where is mr. handson from??he is not american is he??

  • He is a Swedish immigrant

  • I don't think I'd be as confident as Charles, coming into a new town with no money! I love how this episode ends, one of the top best. IMO

  • Come on Pa, you know pulling the state of Iowa ten miles into Minnesota would be insulting to any Minnesotan! lmao

  • wow! Laura has truly grown up on Little House, I think her buck teeth are adorably cute on her!

  • @allcanadiangirl15 apparently she wore braces on there, but they were on the back of her teeth because they didn't have braces back then

  • thanks! ^^ oh and keep making the episodes!

  • @xLaura81x

    From season 4 aired 1978

  • it is right after the episode where Caroline catches her masturbating in the outhouse.

  • masturbating??????????

  • What are you talking about???

  • Weird I don't recall that ep.I surely liked this show when I was a kid. Although as an adult revisiting some ep's on You Tube I can't for the life of me figure out why

  • Knock it off !!

  • No such episode, i assure you

  • congratulations you have the maturity level of a 10 year old.

  • If everyone had a father like Pa, the world would be a much better place.

  • @majorleaguebaby my dads so a pa, built a large room onto our house by himself of course some friends stopped by to lend a hand from time to time, built a lot of the woodwork in the house cabinets, put in floors, works 5 days a week an hour drive both ways, he still works 5 days a week, hour drive there and back, is currently building a new room onto their old room so my mom can have the suite she's always wanted, all after his right leg was amputated at the hip. yeah, i def have a pa.

  • @majorleaguebaby Yes absolutely! He wasn't afraid to work a lot and use hammers and tools like that.
