No, actually it's just because the sweater is blue.... it's called a "Green-screen" effect but it's blue this time, the computer can take any blue and overlay an image over it, so he walked away and recorded the emptyness and then overlayed it over his sweater. Notice how he doesn't have anything else blue around .... otherwise it would be invisible too

All they've done is put this guy in a studio in front of a blue screen, put the background in and turn the effect on. since he's wearing a BLUE jumper it thinks its is part of the background. he reason why its not perfect is that the shadows cast across the jumper cause it to be black. black's not blue so it doesn't render invisible.

Actually you can use any color, green is used because of how unnatural bright green is. Blue is less common because it clashes with jeans.
