  • Johnny's version is the best for this song, R I P Johnny.

  • John Prine didn't write this song as he claims. It was written by Frank Lee Rodgers. John Prine happened upon this song by chance and the old gal that sold the rights to it wrecked her truck shortly after, karma is a bitch.

  • @TheRed076 what other songs did Frank Lee Rodgers write?

  • John Prine, here's to him !

  • a great rendition of this jonh prine classic.....

  • i live in a town called paradise but its in california

  • @jkettell100 Thanks --- rofl

  • Only Cash can cover this John Prine masterpiece with conviction!!!!!

  • I'm an old man and I've seen this happen

  • @Browncoat56 Used to be that big corps would lay waste to land. Now each person, each family is armed with chemicals to brighten up the kitchen, bathroom and other places. Sooner or later these cleaners will hit the oceans. I have heard it said that you live by the very things that will destroy you.

  • my dad was born in paradise ky and still gets teared up about it

  • This song is such a classic...sung by a classic artist...

  • RIP Johnny

  • Best vertions EVER!

  • @rosebud4417 Exactly !

  • Love hearing Cash sing this, but this song in Mr. Prine, and always will be...

  • thank you thank you thank you john prine

  • Yeah its also a bit wierd with bluegrass songs to worry if they are covers. Every bluegrass artist covers every other bluegrass artist. Johnny cash ain't a bluegrass artist (well ususually), but he's just followin' the tradition here.

  • John Prine cover. Prine grew up listening to Johnny Cash. This is a true story from John Prine's life.

  • not his own song

  • @shaggspuddlez : true, but this version is still one of the best ! cheers my friend !

  • @shaggspuddlez That's correct! J R Cash sang a fair proportion of other folks song and gave MANY a struggling songwriter and performer a "leg up" in so doing.

Remember, at that stage in his career J R Cash was a mega star and didn't NEED to do a damn thing and still had more money coming in by way of royalties than he probably could have spent!

  • @shaggspuddlez Yes it was ! or is it your song ? lol

  • @shaggspuddlez Or yours ?

  • @shaggspuddlez You fuckin yankees hate this so go fuck off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @shaggspuddlez everyone has done this song from Johnny to Jim&Jess and my Fave John Prine!!

  • great song

  • yep, i got that album. it"s on fo his best in my mind. very nice song.

  • good song
