  • "Don't let frogs explode in you."

Explode IN you?! Iy was bad enough when they were exploding ON you D:

  • oh goody more surprise fish

  • I -think- that the 'spinning wolf' might have been a 'kamaitachi' -- literally 'sickle weasel' -- a youkai known to fire off cutting winds that drew no blood (in some depictions, there were three weasels to a kamaitachi and one of them applied a medicine to stop the bleeding, for whatever reason).

The reason I think it might be that is the projectiles -- they looked kind of tornado-ish to me.

  • "Don't let frog explode in you"

    Words to live by.

  • hmm bossmusik sounds like something from the ninja gaiden game for the gameboy

  • Shake that stick!

  • The boss is Kamaitachi, Sickle Weasel.

  • "All right, you dumb frogs. I am in the house."

That made me laugh harder than I expected.

  • The fortune teller gives you more points

  • That wheel monster...

I've seen Rakshasa portrayed as Lion/Wolf faced creatures with legs in a wheel like formation.

The problem with this explanation is that Rakshasa are monsters from Indian myth.

Though it is possible to explain them as import with Buddhism...

  • I think its a wolf head with legs

  • i belive IT is suposed to be a Kitsune spirit.

...even if it looke like a wolfs head during the spin cycle...

  • DC, you're having too much fun with the music.

Though, very nice game you got there. I'll have to play it sometime.

  • i neva played this game but i think its a frog with its legs spinnin =P

  • The singing is my favourite

  • You can't get away from surprise fish no matter what game you play can you? There always seems to be fish jumping out of somewhere to get you...

  • Lol. Funny as always Mr.DC.

  • The fortune telling bit is vital for finding a large secret later in the game. You need to find an "Excellent" reading for it, however. You also have to have a couple of limitations to your party...I don't recall the exact details, but I know it involved having less than four of one certain type and none of any of another. I think it was no more than four ninjas and no monks, but I could easily be mistaken. It causes a "Lucky Raccoon" to show up in stage 5 or 6. It's from an old tip book I read.

  • As it turns out, you also need to not cheat, or at least not level skip.

  • Do you think that they will release this for the Wii Virtual Console?

  • I would make Inuyasha team

    Samurai - Inuyasha

    Mystic(Miko) - Kagome

    Priest(Houshi) - Miroku

Ninja - Sango (it's the nearest thing of her job)

who watched/read the series know what I mean =)

  • Or maybe you could just, I don't know, play the video game and stop trying to shoehorn your favorite anime characters into it somehow, earning you the scorn of hundreds.

  • DC wins. :D

  • hey, I just post it because the same week I finished reading the manga you posted this video, sorry if I offended or something =/

  • Well, you didn't make Me look bad or anything...

  • kamaitachi, perhaps? Sickle weasel, doesn't look much like a weasel, but the sickles are there, there's three of them, and he seems to be in a whirlwind. All signs point to kamaitachi.

  • okay DC, I have a slight comment... about that request for a Y's game... I think it would be a good idea, but again another idea with the current games too... mixing them tohether u get Ark of Napishtim. A very good, current, but slightly un-known Y's game. an LP of that would be nice... (think it over at least, would u please?)

I do love all your LPs, I enjoy them greatly. Please keep up all the good work. Specially that Gallos ep. where u were the La-Mulana character and u went nuts! lol fun!

  • Another great LP on an esoteric game I haven't heard about. Which is hard. I've heard or played a heck of a lot. Stanley and this come out of left field for me.

  • deceased crab is asome i like your videos :)

  • I always love watching these and getting introduced to a game I've never even heard of. Some amazing gems like Cave Story, La-Mulana and Knytt that I hadn't got a shot at before, and some fun things like this one too. I hope you have as much fun playin' the games as the final edit is to watch. Star Tropics excluded.

  • hey i'd buy a copy of you singing

  • DAG NABIT

  • I can't tell if you're being stupid on purpose. Vent elsewhere.

  • I'm surprised by the amount of depth this game has with the different unit types and shops and such.

  • Probably a Buer. Those things are so weird.

Also you could play some Ys game next, they're too hand for me, so I'm better off watching you play them.

Also2, I noticed you've never Let's played a newer game, except for some freeware. Why is that? Not that I'm against old games (actually quite the opposite)

  • Well, you all know about the newer games. Most of you have played them. Why bore you with a game everyone's already played? Even when I do LP more common games, I make sure they're obscure enough that Someone hasn't played and enjoyed it.

  • I know my opinion doesn't matter much, but I'm not just watching your Let's Plays for the game itself, I'm watching them to listen to your witty (and at times sarcastic) commentary on the game itself, and that's something only you could bring. That's what I think is excellent about these kinds of videos - everyone has something different to bring to the table. Of course, while it's awesome to learn of new games from you, I think it'd be also interesting to see your take on more well-known games.

  • You're right. It's a Buer.

  • monk uses lightning bugs you know..i revealed his secret

  • That'd be a Sickle Weasel. No joke.

  • You should totally do Deja Vu for GBC man. Also, you amuse me, you sound like Foreman from That 70s show.

  • I never thought that, but now all I can hear is Eric Foreman!

  • I'm thinking that boss was a kitsune like the sub boss from La Mulana. Does that help?

  • There were no Kitsune sub bosses in La-Mulana. However, there was a Buer sub-boss in La-Mulana. Perhaps that is what you meant to say.

  • I thought the teleporting, floating, claw flinging fox thing was a Kitsune.

  • Kamaitachi, not Kitsune. It's a weasel thing with scythes.

  • The sub boss in the Giant's Graveyard; you know the one that you gotta fight before you get the bombs? Maybe whatever they are, they're based off the same mythological creature?

  • i seem to remember playing this game once.. were pretty good

  • The monk is also really good at Connect 4.

    Pretty sneaky, monk.

  • Chuck Norris can win a game of Connect 4 in 3 moves

  • HUZZAH!

  • The Boss looks like an enemy from Castlevania o_o

  • Great video as always.

This was a fairly useless comment. I apologize.

  • Not as useless as some.

  • that's an excellent question. I guess it's a dog head with spinning mantis arms?

  • Wow! The monk kicks ass!

  • i like this game for some odd reason

  • Wait, so you can only buy characters to replace your fourth mercenary? How is that supposed to work?

  • I think it's a wolf in a tornado?

  • That's preety good! Shake that Stick! lol

  • I think it's a Spirit Wheel, from the Japanese mythology...

by the way... The Chinese/Japanese music is pretty interresting... ;)

  • Your Let's Plays are thrilling, entertaining, and a great way to kill time.

    Long live DeceasedCrab!

  • Pure sixth-grade memories :)

  • Nice singing skills. :] And weren't you going to show us how you can turn into that big huge thingie during a boss fight?

  • I wonder how many video games actually have surprise fish? Seems they are everywhere, some one needs to make a wikipedia article.

  • Or at least a TV Tropes article.

  • Good one

  • where can you buy this game, i need to pick this up, and by any chance would you have an estimated price.

  • I was lucky and found it in Gamestop for 3 dollars.

  • wow thats pretty lucky. maybe ill go check there tomorrow

  • Zelda: 4 Swords for the GC ripped this game off, with the formation thing.

It looked like a wolfish thing spinning around at high speed shooting fire vortexs at you... just saying.

  • this game is so sweet! I thin that I would like it!

  • Shake that stick!

  • i laughed so hard at that part xDDDDD

  • That I think is a Kamaitachi. A sort of weasel with scythes for claws.

  • It's a wolf head on a helicopter blade I guess.

  • Dose the scripture last forever?

  • Sure does.

  • nice singing Maestro!

  • what an interetsting game!

  • Maybe it was just a really big wolf. I mean, you've got a lot of other animals that are at least as big as people, and fish that are TWICE as big as people, why not a really big wolf?

  • Great video!

  • I'm sure you already swamped with explanations, but that Buer is infact a weasel that moves at the speed of wind with a sickle, beheading people with a delay that can be as long as months. As long as they don't do anything to move their head to fast, the decap stays intact. Explanation for wind being able to cut you.

Also, robot cheerleader would defeat the perpose. If it was a male robot anyway.

  • The Kamaitachi, you mean? I thought that too, though it really does look like a Buer. Strange.

  • I dont think the fortune teller does anything.

  • When are you gonna get a record deal? I NEED to hear "Video Game Songs by: DeceasedCrab" I'll buy all of your cds!!! =D

  • Oh viewers. I worry about your susceptibility to this sort of thing.

  • You have an inferiority complex. Surely you are a better singer than, say, Gavin DeGraw.

  • No, I actually sing really well when I intend to sing well. I meant that you viewers are so hooked on the idea of an audio CD with me singing a few tracks on it, that you'd pay money to the devil himself to buy it.

  • I don't think I'd buy a CD with your forced tracks on it, but your singing has somehow got me singing along to my video games. It happened again today when I was in the Lunar Whale while playing FF4DS...... Darn you Rubicante!

  • You're rich too apparently, don't you like the moneys?

Then again why bother singing if we'd already give you money if only you had a "Donate" button.

  • Pay him in person? Goodness no! I'd send in a check or something at least.

  • lol whne u said that i was watchin robo cop 3

  • Yes, that looks like a Buer to me too. What is a Mesopotamian demon doing in feudal Japan?

  • That boss kinda looked like were-sonic

  • I think it's a pig/wolf/bat bird thingy o.O uhm. Is it a polbard , can't come with some good name for it really.

  • Bring it O: In it to Win it? that movie

  • Buer is more of a Final Fantasy enemy than a Castlevania one.

  • More of a Japanese Mythology enemy than a videogame enemy.

  • Good point.

  • Actually, Wikipedia says it's of Western origins.

  • He's actually a Goetic demon, not from Japanese mythology.

  • Good LP. You know I don't know why more shmups can't be this original. Most of them it's just straight fighting, no item collecting or anyting. At least Tyrian had shops and cool powerups. Actually I heard that Guardian Legend's prequal on the MSX had multiple paths you could go through or somthing like that.

  • Yay! More singing!

  • I guess surprise fish wanted revenge in koi form in this level. Well, at least you're getting revenge on Surprise fish, but if you got catball revenge, then that'd probably make your day loads better.

  • DAMN YOU SURPRISE FISH!!!

  • your the best dc

  • I just can't get enough of these videos.

  • it looks like that thing from la-mulana

  • singing goodnight, actually pretty good XD

  • Go DC!!!

  • The boss of that level was like the thing in the Lands of Hell.

  • Robocop as a cheerleader? Well, he'd get the fans on his team's side, that;s for sure.

  • nice ending

  • was that a wolf head with 2 legs spinning around its head?

  • nice one ^^ and the boss looks like a misshaped wolf 0.o

  • Hey, if one of your guys scrolls off-screen, does that auto-kill him? Like, say, if he's stuck behind a house.

  • No. They simply kind of force their way through solid objects.

  • This makes great sense! :D

  • All of this nostalgia made me play an old game I had

    It was called Castlevania Adventure

Now that was ridiculously frustrating game, giant rolling eyeballs and all

  • DC, animals *hate* you. In every game you play, they always have some sort of projectile to kill you with. Do your ancestors do something to anger the animal gods?

  • I guess wildlife learned about gunpowder and guns.

  • all your videos are awesome!
