I know I'm going to get hate for this, but shred solos don't really mean shit in a song. They're fillers. Yes, they're entertaining, but they do very little to progress the mood of the song. They had to cut something out, I mean it's 7 and a half minutes long. That pattern he plays at 2:17 shows you that he has the finger speed to play the full solo, but in the grand scheme of things it's just not that important. Solos don't bring out the passion you see at 2:55

The fastest part of the solo is the beginning, where he taps his pick on the fretboard every 1st note, leaving only two pull-offs with the fingers. If you knew how to play it you'd know that.
