Art Lesson: How to paint a sky using acrylics.

I need to do this on a painted sheetrock wall. Do you think I will have the same success?

@stb2001 You should be able to do it on sheetrock. Just make sure the surface is primed before applying the acrylic paint.

I love your work it is just beautiful, i would like to see an instructional video on the land masses like shrubs, especially the shrubs and that beautiful red tree in another video you did, rocks and also the waters edge waves etc. thank you for the great videos thus far. I would seriously love to see a real time video for sure with instructions it you could swing it, may be a smaller canvas would be better for that to save time.

I find it difficult to do the sky, the colours end my mixing together and just being one tone if I go up and down when it comes to blending.... :( instead of it turning out to be dark at the top and light at the bottom.

@TruthSeekingElf Thanks. I thought I would make a lesson that simplifies the process as much as possible because I couldn't find any online when I was first learning to paint seascapes.

@shaunryanart You did well, it's hard to find simplified lessons on line for sure. Do you prime your canvas beforehand? With gesso? Are you going to do a part 2?

@TruthSeekingElf I usually buy primed canvas and paint straight onto it. I added a couple of additional layers of white gesso to this one before painting. I will do more instructional videos and I am taking suggestions, so let me know if there's any particular aspect that you are interested in. Thanks, Shaun.
