I really believe that recruiters should mirror the military in the physical condition soldiers end up in. I remember when he signed up. I suggested a few things he ask of the recruiter and he finally got the guy to fess up to the dangers and the reality of military service. He got a better deal out of it. Recruiting using flashy commercials, video games and yahoo toys most personnel will never touch is disingenuous.

@55DepotStreet while I would agree it's a bit expensive for personal glory, when you consider the pilots need so many flying hours a year to maintain airworthiness and the planes need to be run AND the parachutists need practice it's probably not that much more expensive than if they didn't do it, but instead went around in circles somewhere.

@respected84 yes this is your tax money. Do you even know what a Wing Suit is capable of? Special forces are using them now in plane jumps and helicopters. It allows a lot of soldiers to bail from an vehicle in the air, and stealth land. They can literally fly for a while, and pull the shute at the last 25 seconds. This is better than paratrooping out and seeing a person slowly come down for 8 minutes or more while you get a lock and fire on them. Come on man! Be proud!

This technology (and it's ever changing) will allow for spec ops to cross into hostile environments and get a task done with minimal colloidal damage. Other methods of entry are much more expensive. @respected84 yes this is your tax money. Do you even know what a Wing Suit is capable of? Special forces are using them now in plane jumps and helicopters. It allows a lot of soldiers to bail from an vehicle in the air, and stealth land. They can literally fly for a while, and pull the shute at the last 25 seconds. This is better than paratrooping out and seeing a person slowly come down for 8 minutes or more while you get a lock and fire on them. Come on man! Be proud!

@dynomike1964 actually the wing suit is worth every penny. This technology (and it's ever changing) will allow for spec ops to cross into hostile environments and get a task done with minimal colloidal damage. Other methods of entry are much more expensive. Right now it is a gimmick but it also has very real applications. But that's my opinion. Have great day.
