is a scandalllllllllll after six months of life the mixer is stopped, I discovered that Brazil has no warranty ( I PAY 4000 US DOLL) and I have to pay 700 reais to fix it.
Fairly decent demonstration. I am about to use this mixer at a church. i have already listened and mildly operated, but this has helped a lot. I will utilize Capture. Do I have to manually set the disk record allocation (time and destination)?
This would be a great mixer if it actually worked reliably. Read the presonus forums very carefully. You will find that there are MANY users who are on their second or third board from presonus OR they have had to send it to the factory for repair. Save yourself the trouble. It is an attractive and nice sounding board, but the system is far from stable. Consider yourself warned.
The sampling rate on the converters are 44.1 and 48. Other mixers in this price range are higher sampling rates. How much of an issue is this for someone considering the purchase of this mixer? Anyone who has had the mixer awhile have any input on this? Or would Presonus care to respond ? Thanks.
@caperocker1 the sampling rate is lower but presonus mic preamps are usually better quality than many other consoles. I have worked with some of the boards in the studio live series and they do sound better than even some consoles that cost much much more. The sampling rate is not a huge problem because most people would use 44.1 or 48khz. Higher than that you would normally see in professional recording studios for example 96khz sampling rate.
Does this mixer control the internal mixer of Logic Express without ever touching the computer? Do I need to set the "learn" parameters everytime I create e new project?
@mlagga1 No it doesn't. But, it has a great feature that the fat channel section shows you where the faders should be when you recall something. it is really easy to use. This gives you real console feeling when you use this. Its just great!

@alextherealdrummer hey Idk if you got your question answered about using the protools 8 with studio live, but you can't, the software comes with the mixer when you get it, and you can upgrade to studio pro for more power. I hope this helps. =)
@ItalyLC You are completly wrong and offering information that clearly shows you hav enever usd the product. This unit operates with most popular softwares out there including Protools, Sonar, Cubase, ect.ect.ect.
@ZastrasAudio You're forgetting that this was recorded live during a conference and was probably just recorded straight from the board without any re-mixing. Then compressed poorly into some sort of video form, probably.
I have successfully installed the Capture software & the demo song that comes with the Caputer CD but I have not been able to install the StudioLive 16.4.2 Drivers.
I think they left something out. Rick at presonus told me I could use this as my main soundcard. Fine. But where on the board is midi ins and outs? How would I input a controller keyboard?
There's an output for headphones (1/4") on the front rail on the far right side. I just bought this mixer for Live use. I will be taking it on the road this coming weekend and looking forward to it!
I know is compatible with many DAW's but protools, does anybody knows if this works as a interface for "studio one" which is also a presonus product??
Yeah, I read that it does, I think that capture is just a timmed down recording system that has less frills but is stable as a rock... If it works with Sonar it definately works with "Studio one"
if it is just handling audio as a mixer, why would you need world clock? latency issues? isnt that part ASIO anyways? If it was a surface ie 003, then Id expect world clock but as it is it just seems like 16 pres with fx...
Once you have each individual track recorded into your program (eg SONAR), can you then use the faders on the desk as a control surface for the programs virtual faders?
no you cannot. this is not a control surface, can you play back from DAW to the desk then back from the desk to the PC via the outputs and record that way, but it will not work was virtual for the DAW
Yes, if you want it to. There is a button called POST EQ and Dynamics on the Fat Channel. If that button is pressed in, then your EQ and Dynamics will be recorded. If not, then it will take the signal straight from the preamp and record it dry. You can choose this on a 'per channel' basis.

I have successfully installed the Capture software & the demo song that comes with the Caputer CD but I have not been able to install the StudioLive 16.4.2 Drivers.
It keeps coming up with the following error:
"Runtime Error (at 23:1712):

You do that via USB most of the time. A USB controller, or an inexpensive USB Midi interface.
CWPtacek 2 years ago
the controller is usb and that is suppose to plug into your computer or your sound module

Would be nice to have a 15 band for monitors, or perhaps a feedback killer with a ratio button hired wired to monitors?
Awesome product tho!
