  • Rooftops looks pretty mad!

  • lol...

  • That "ALL" commercial isn't very realistic, as no kid could possibly smile after their ice cream fell off the cone....

  • Kid in the ALL commercial looks VERY familiar but I can't place him from anywhere else. Anyone? Anyone? Wait--didn't he play Dominic (the little boy) in Kindergarten Cop?

  • MMMMM Carnation Instant Breakfast!

  • Seriously, do they study psychology using chimps back then?

  • I bet the spaghetti tree ad was a callback to a famous BBC April Fool's joke.

When it came on cable about a year later, I remember eagerly watching Skin Deep (Blake Edwards RIP), thinking it would be basically a porno. Instead, it's a comedy-drama about a guy having a midlife crisis. Yawn. BTW the "glow in the dark" tagline refers to the most famous scene in the movie. I'll let you all check out Wikipedia to find out. :)

Nice that you have to Europe to get your free ticket. I'll pass

  • What the hell is the song at 1:06??? I've been looking for that song for ages!

  • I guess I'm a little confused about the Perfection spaghetti commercial because I remember seeing this very commercial exactly the same way with the same people but the pasta was called San Giorgio. If you search youtube for Vintage 1977 San Giorgio commercial you will get the same exact commercial~lol.

  • I loved the 80s they were the best-best times of my life.

  • Rooftops, Chances Are, Skin Deep, and Lean on Me... that takes me back.

  • The girl in the Diet Pepsi commercial looks like Brenda Strong from Seinfeld. You know Sue Ellen, the woman that never wore a bra?

  • @kari00ws6 LOL i had no Idea who brenda strong was on seinfeld until you said no bra then it all came back to me, is that wrong? the heiress to the o'henry candy franchise.

  • is this weird that im only 11 but would love to go in the 80's?

an i love the adverts for some reason!

    great job 80sCommercialVault

  • @WWEFANJOE98 me too i soo want to go back to the 80s and im only 16

  • It's funny how Morgan freeman hasn't changed much in 20-30 years

  • Brenda Strong of Desperate Housewives in the Diet Pepsi Commercial!

  • those pretty people don't need the library, they're good looks will get them what they need. Hehe

  • The instant breakfast commercial jingle is so catchy! BTW,is that the guy that played Steve Urkel on Family Matters at 4:09?

  • Is it just me, or is that Erin Gray from Silver Spoons doing the Breuners commercial?

  • @rockergirl83 Yea it looks like Erin Gray

  • Yup, I'm pretty sure that's her!

  • the kid in the ALL commercial is dressed like mario lol.

  • WTF is with that Mike Tyson thing? Did he have anything to do with the movie?

  • Erin Grey, Yogi Berra, John Ritter and Mike Tyson in the same volume. Awesome. Hard to believe Rooftops is directed by the same guy who did West Side Story

  • Notice Curly's "Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk!" at :07. How I miss Emporium-Capwell and Breuners.

  • I could swear I saw "Rooftops", but don't remember a thing about it.

  • No, I have never come home to a note from my wife that said, "Yogi, you start dinner"!!'

    FROM IMBD: "Rooftops"

T, as most of his friends, lives in a self-constructed 'house', built on top of an old building in the city. Their one passion is 'combat'. Combat is a dance/streetfight during which the contestants try to push each other out of the arena, while not allowed to actually touch each other.

tagline: Rooftops. It's the only place to be.

!!! Do they fight/dance ON the rooftops??

  • i made a time machine!

  • Frogs.. Mud on my favorite jeans

I wear them so much they're hard to keep clean

    Messy, gooky stains... well...well...well

Mama gets em out with A..L..L

I haven't heard that catchy tune in years. Thanks

  • Ok, I'm 11 and I wish i was born in 1965!

The 80's were the best times ever! Compared to the craphole we're in now!

Oh and R.I.P Mj, my favorite person ever!!

  • ahaha, the diet pepsi commercial with the chimps, hilarious. tugs at the heartstrings it does

  • I miss the simpler days. The Library PSA just brought it allllll back.

  • 7:40 reminds me of a shoe commercial they used to give. I don't remember the name of the shoe but the song went: "looks like a pump, feels like a sneaker.." and the woman played basketball with high heels.

  • easy spirit

  • Thank you!! I'm glad someone remembers. I am not the only one! XD

  • That Perfection spaghetti commercial had me going "WTF?"

  • i wanna go back!

  • everytime stains on my favorite jeans fall...mama lifts em up with a-l-l...that's all the stain lifter that's all.

human kind peaked in the 80s

  • Do they still have microwave stove top because I haven't seen it in the stores.

  • the monkey was not signing "you're welcome" if anything it looked like he was saying "I know" like an arrogant monkey lol

  • I want to see the movie with Jason Gedrick too, he was super cute then and still is.

  • Thank you for posting this. The award-winning Diet Pepsi commercial with the chimps is otherwise unavailable, except at The Paley Center for Media. My long search is over.

  • All this stuff makes me wish I had a damn time machine.....

  • And the Safeway spot (2:33) shows a lot of the fruit uncovered and unwrapped that is now usually in plastic, like the cherries,

    grapes, and even cut watermelon.

  • That dietPepsi spot (1:32) with the chimps is pretty darn scary after the killer-chimp in CT a few months ago. I hope this commercial didn't encourage people to get them for pets, like they are kittens.

  • Sound's like a fantastic deal!

  • I've seen the produce at Safeway... it's just god awful.. Food Lion had better quality..lol and Food Lion was even worse

  • lol, Rooftops has a 4.3/10 rating at imdb.

  • Lol all the jingles are hilarious :)

The Libary PSA was major... WTF

  • I've actually seen the movie Chances Are and it was a great movie. I know now of when it was made because of this video.

And I I've seen the Perfection Spaghetti commercial before.

  • I miss the old Pepsi font, it used to be so futuristic. Actually, I miss the whole futuristic mood of the late 80s.

  • I remember that Library PSA and you took the words right out of my mouth.

    "What?"

    0_0

  • I really love that announcers voice for the All Commercial. I have ingrained memories about this commercial.

  • @DesolateMinds Leon Redbone, he did the "Mr. Belvedere" theme and "Baby, It's Cold Outside" with Zooey Deschanel on the "Elf" soundtrack. One of the kids in the All commerical looked like Dominic from Kindergarten Cop.

  • keep the commerials coming

  • The girl with the chimps does the voice on Desperate Houswifes. On the first season her characer committed suicide, i think her name on the show is Mary Alice.

  • 1:18 what the fuck is up with the shitty welding job on this balcony railing???

oh and between the creepy library psa, the chimps, and the odd movie spots, this is definatly one of the stranger volumes.

  • That first PSA was... interesting, to say the least.

I've also now made it my mission to find and watch "Rooftops", I'm hoping it'll be as amazing as it looks.

  • I remember the Stove Top microwave stuffing with Yankee legend Yogi Berra.

  • Like seeing all these TV spots, especially with the 2nd and 3rd with young Robert Downey Jr. and the late great John Ritter in them respectively.

  • Speaking of which, I'm currently trying to watch 50 '89 films before the year's end. Currently have gone through 28.

  • This volume has an extra dash of strangeness to it.

"We all miss you John Ritter"

  • you know lean on me is good movie
