@tc8849 My fav PUs are Bare Knuckle because their definition and mid frecuency & intensity. The Suhr DA worked very very well on a EBMM Petrucci (basswood body) being one of the best sounds I ever achieved but not as much on a Caparison Angelus (mahogany body) sounding a bit muddy. About EMGs: I don't like them as much as passive electronics, but for some kind of guitars and metal styles I think they work better than Suhrs
How did you plug tuner into the amp? Between guitar and amp, "preamp out" or effects loop? I've got a problem - if i use "preamp out" in my 5150, sound become muddy (quieter) a bit. Is it normal?
@Korneo54: NOS=New Old Stock, name used for parts/guitars/tubes. The preamp mod was only change the tubes for that NOS tubes, but I'm afraid I can't tell you which tubes had the amp, because I sold it two months ago :-(. I only remember that the first preamp tube was a low noise and low gain one, perhaps a Phillips
@xykhron Thank you man. Phillips tube ? I've ask to my amp tech if he know how to have your cleaner sound on the distortion. I hope he can do that because i fu***** love your sound !
@Korneo54 Hi man!. It's a ECC83 Philips Miniwatt (origin: Holland). Besides the preamp tubes, the sound comes alive due the cabinet: the 4x12 Mesa Roadking. Gives clearer, thighter and more balanced sound than 4x12 Mesa Rectifier. It's one of the best I've tried, and believe me that I tried a lot of gear (I'm a poor guitar player that loves trying new gear). Give it a try if you can!
@xykhron Thank you very much ! I've the 4x12 Rectifier. I gonna try the 4x12 Roadking if I can ;-). Thank you for the ECC83, you've got this one on V1 or other position ? This only tube give you this crazy sound ??? the other 12ax was the original tubes ? You're really a nice man =D
@xykhron Hi, yeah, the Phillips is V1. All the preamp tubes were replaced, but this is the only one I can remember, sorry. I'm gonna search in my files if I can find where the Hell I put the bill of the technician in where the description of the tubes were written.
@xykhron I wait for it =). Please, tell me you don't have put the bill of your technician in the garbage^^. Last night, I've buy a ECC83 Philips Miniwatt from Holland, it's hard to find this type of NOS tubes ^^
@psychophilia1 Hi!. It had a NOS preamp tube set. I don't remember exactly which models, because I sold the amp a couple of months ago. Also, had JJ Tesla poweramp tubes and a mode to add a master volume after effects loop, but the main mod was the preamp one. It has the characteristic 5150 sound, but it souds clearer and way more defined than other 5150 I owned. Also, in this video the semi open-back Roadking cabinet helps a lot to obtain that sound. With all closed it doesn't sound like this
@wickman001 Hi!, thanks for comment. Well, 5150II is way more aggressive and tighter sounding than Mesa. The Roadking has a fuller and stronger sound and the distortion sound is sweeter. If you need a brutal and heavy-ton sound: Roadking. If you are looking for just aggressive great metal tone with lots of gain: 5150II. Both are great amps.
how you like the Suhr Doug Aldrich pickup??? are they better than emgs 81/85 and bare knuckles?? for metal.. thanks

Hey man, sweet setup. I just got the 6505+. Aside from the cleans, how would you compare the Road King to the 5150II? I was thinking of going mesa...
