You should try Sony tx10 it takes the best picture quality available. Full hd video and it is waterproof dust proof shock proof and freeze proof with out been very stylish and it is not 1000 usd as you say. It is only 329 and you get the best of toughness style technology and quality in one camera.

The SD card must be 2GB or smaller; otherwise, the camera will not recognize it, and it will not work. If it's not that, you may want to exchange it.

very accurate review on the ATC 2K Camera. i've had it for 9 months and have used it on my road bike, mountain bike, and waverunners. GeekGirl does a great job of reflecting the ups and downs of the camera. overall, its great.

I just bought the ATC-2K and I LOVE IT!It's not my first camera, currently I have 7 that I use for various activities. But, for the money ($88.00 on amazon 8/15/08) this is hands down my favorite. Complaining about the microphone? C'mon, man! Do you really expect to narrate as you're flying down a mountain at breakneck speed? Get real! All you are going to hear anyway is wind rushing and rocks bouncing off your helmet. Also, are you gonna lug a bulky battery and charger deep into the woods?

audio: the worst of all. you said it isn't ment to record people talking and I can say it isn't ment to record sound at all. I was filming a video on a cros bike and the sound came out awfull... makes me want to puke

I had this camera... that is until the water broke in (at 1m depth). at least I got a refund.

let me give you my oppinion of the camera: it sucked

video: wabbly (hello picture stabilisers would be apropriate)

light sensitivity: poor

mounting stuff: I was unable to stabilize the camera with the mounting stuff, oh and the rubber padds weren't solving any problems.

i have the same action cam, but i solved the audio issue. you need a .050 allen wrench to get the cover off and remove the gasket protecting the micro phone. after that the sound pickup is great, but the warrenty is voided. so its all on you.

I have herd that one should use faster sd card, can any one suggest the most appropriate sd card for it. Also what is the longest time one can record on these card. and lastly what is recomended battery for longlasting recording.

All the crappy components which they claim will attach to a helmet... do NOT, try fitting that tiny elastic / Velcro strap around a full face helmet... It just doesn't work... Having said that... GAFFA tape is so good for holding the camera straight with very little vibrations, and it feels safe when you have it on your helmet... Thats the only problem i have with the camera

Main problem, the control bottoms, to press ON/Off you think you are going to brake either the camera or your finger.Another strange problem its with the software, while transferring your videos from the SD it gives many problems, and also you have to whatch the videos full not being able to fast forward or rewind them, neither pause them, sound will continue image will not do so. Nice TTs!!!

thanks for the info - you do a fantastic job with the delivery. i just purchased this devise and used the rubber helmet strap similar to the method displayed on the O.S. website (camera on side mount). this position records on the horizontal and not vertical - 90 degrees off center. i thought there would be a menu item to re-frame but haven't found it. any thoughts?

I just got my ATC2K for Christmas. I agree it did shake quite a bit but that is probably due to the fact that I had it mounted my handlebars, if I were to mount it to my helmet I'm pretty sure that would reduce shaking as well. Also, all you Windows users, Windows Movie Maker is a good cheap program you can use to edit you ATC2K videos with. thanks for the tip. I got that same wavy effect on my bike, just due to road bumps... I figure it would be more successful on my helmet, because my body would absorb those little shocks.

Hi , I can't believe its been six months already. Having done extensive testing on this cam model I made a tank mount using iridium magnets and extra secured it using duct tape. It was good for 100 mph + and being centrally mounted it avoided some of the 'wavy' effect caused by this units lack of an image stabiliser.

Tips for this product: Use a little electrical tape to secure the sd card. Else, if it moves during use, the camera will shut off. Secondly, don't mount it to motorcycle fairings, it will vibrate and cause a 'wavy flag' effect in the playback.
