@Justsomeday Book author Thomas Harris is generally known to make use of ideas from religion. (The movie-makers are merely following suit.) My videos and blog are an in-depth exploration of religious symbolism, metaphor, and allegory that I believe are contained in the movies. It stands to reason that Harris intentionally put this stuff in his books, though at some level some of it may have also come from his unconscious.
