  • 308

  • a very fair comparison

  • I'm gonna buy you a camcorder for Xmas

  • i deffinantly love your choice in ar. i have to say i love my rock river and have had no problems at all, other than a dirty face from the rim oil haha

  • I won't make fun of the video quality there's enough of that already. How far away is that shot?

  • @MrKeithStone 50 yards.Thank you for being objective.

  • I'm not being a jerk but i could draw this video better than your camera recorded it.

  • I have a boner, but its not the video

  • Bad bad bad vid quality

  • Let's face it, atleast 009 Sound System ain't playing in the background!

  • If I had $1 for every pixel in this video I would have $1.

  • I did that once and got hit with shrapnel from 100 yards away..good luck

  • sigan poniendo anucncios seguimos votando abajo

  • Pinhole camera on 8mm, SCNR :)

  • すごい

  • where can i buy the toaster you filmed this with

  • recorded via gameboy LOL!!!!

  • @MrSkywaka If I had 1 cent for every pixel I would only have 4 cents.

  • What pixel was hit. I didn't see.

  • Nope just filmed woth a carrot

  • edited with a sony ericsson mobile?

  • @ZOCKER1001 Yes.

  • @anad41775 ohh i am awsm

  • if i had 1 cent for every pixel i would have 1 dollar

  • Seriously?...if you want range + penetration buy a .50

You will shoot less at targets (cost) but the result will be 100% of your intent, vs 100% cost vs 10% intent.

Plus, trade with people and get yourself some mock (grin) explosive rounds and even a bad shot will hit their target...hell, 5-targets with one shot.

  • @Prometheus1st

oh yes, because a $10,000 rifle is easy to come by, and very practical to a target shooter.

  • @Prometheus1st seriously quit playing video games. do you have $4,000+ to buy a .50 caliber rifle? do you have the money to feed the rifle let alone just buy enough ammo to spend an hours time of shooting probably not. get real this shit cost BIG money just to even go to a range day and shoot youll be spending big money.

  • @MxRider710 I have a Barret M82A1 and an M107. I bought them while I was active. Sorry I offended you.

    Take care.

  • @Prometheus1st So when were you active? And if you do have them I'd guess you would even spell "Barrett" right. And didn't offend me just how many people have a 50 caliber weapon just to targer practice? Not everyone has money like that in this time.

  • @MxRider710 Hey I would not be correcting other peoples spelling when you can't spell (target) or use proper grammar. If the guy has M82A1 that’s fine, they are not as rare as people think. I know of a Barrett 50 Cal. Club near my home town, I don't own one but i wish I did, and I bet you do to. I have many Fire arms myself, and I don’t go shoot the expensive rounds every time. I probably have more rounds thru my 22.lr than all the guns i own combined.

  • @cgmorri0779 Lol thats called a typo ya know a lot of people make them. And i know 50's are popular i have a buddy that own an armalite 50 and it is fun to shoot. And the times ive been to a range which is worthless ive seen some guys with them. And no i dont own one and dont want to. I have no use for it and i dont wanna pay the cost to feed it. If i wanted to i could go pick one up tomorrow but fuck that dont want that damn thing. Id rather spend the money on ammo for my other guns i like more

  • stop filming with a toothbrush

  • Damn these adverts. Thanks for posting the vid anyway!

  • anyone could shot that far waste of ammo. . .

  • @69Marzy it's "SHOOT" not shot. As far as wasting ammo, he we showing you the penetrating power of the 308 vs the 223. So you're a moron

  • Did you film this with a calculator?

  • @CASn1p3r yeah, calculator cameras are the shit, bought mine the other day!

  • Love the quality!!!

  • Nice camera! is it a model 1922?

  • Please dont record videos with a calculator...

  • Was the evidence a surprise to anyone - including you?

  • @cptexas1 @cptexas1 NO.I would imagine with some 5.56 green tip steel penetrator ,the results would have been different. This was a video I made on a boring summer day in 2008 with a camera phone.I never knew it would get the kind of attention that it now gets.I do not regret making this video at all.It has become a gateway for many of my other vids to get views. Thanks for watching.

  • I thought you were going to shoot a .308 into a .223... Dissapoint ;)

  • this looks like a freakin VCR tape ahahahahaha blew the budget on the guns

  • did you tape this with a nanny cam?

  • always tellin people an m16 is no match for the power of a .308

  • @mard420 Com on man! dont you believe what the military tells you 5.56 vs 308? one 308 is compared to three round burts on 5.56.. you going drop them with 5.56 you just going doing it style.remember back in 70's 5.56 it tumbles and can hit your pinky and come down out your bottom. I remember all that.you fire up enough ammo you bound to hit some Goddam thing! Week end Warrior SON!

  • A qualidade do video não importa.

O que realmente importa é o teste bem pratico de comparação entre as duas munições.

    Qual a distancia do alva?

  • @PertigueiroBR Obrigado pela distância comment. The inteligente foi de 50 jardas.

  • Dude some people are so ignorant! The man said the camera sucked in the notes..... Get a fucking clue! Great vid man. The 308 will never have competition from a 223... For all you dumb dicks who think you know, our unfortunately limp wristed politicians tied our hands on the battlefield by accepting the genoeva(sp) convention rules that outlaw the use of anything but fmj rounds. Yes we also use steel core armor penetrating rounds that go right through flesh. If not for politics, we would

  • The quality can be what ever it wants to be, complaining doesn't make it better.

  • great video quality!

  • buy a sony ericcson vivaz (720p hd video and i think 8 mp camera maybe its 5)

    its about

    350 euro = about 400 dollars

or just bring ur camera the next time!

  • recorded with a toothbrush

  • very suck ass video, but enjoy watching. love them when they go bang.

  • despite the quality, i got the point-got any newer vids with better equipment? guess i should just look huh? doh!

  • If y'all want a feature presentation, go drop 20 bucks on a movie at the Cinerama with popcorn and drinks, but you won't learn anything about the performance of these two cartridges. For free on YouTube you should just STFU and thank the man for making the effort! Thank you anad41775.

  • and these comments are whats wrong with the internet, thumbs up bro. haters gonna hate

  • i think itd be a wayyy better vid if it wasnt for all these people bitching about the quality on the comments

  • ive never seen video quality this bad since digital camera phones

  • @Oddball941 gee read his comments AND the notes. That's what he used. sheesh...ain't none of you haters capable of READING? It's FUNdamental you know.

  • I have seen videos with better quality in 90's, than your video in 21 century

  • your camera is horrible

  • MY EARSSSSS !!!!!!!!! LOL

  • which one is the 223

  • .308 wins hands down power and long range with power the .223 is just a high powerded bb gun,

  • @TheDadrobb a high powered bb gun that would kill your ass lol

  • This sucked worse than my mother and law.

  • thanks for the slideshow

  • @troy5251 Thank you for watching it.

  • shit quality

  • @rushofspeed Quality suck's I know. But hey 136,000+ ain't too bad for a vid made with a phone. This was one of my early works and have learned much since this vid.I have a lot of newer vid's if you have the time check them out.The quality is much better and really I hope you do take a look. Thanks for watching.

  • @anad41775 Awesome place for shooting.

  • @lanberr hey idiot he said in the beggining that he has vid with a better camera

  • i had my Volume up to 100 whan he shot i jumped of my chair and i am suprised i didnt get a hart attack O_O

  • dude get a good camera

  • @lanberr Dude, got a good camera.

  • @anad41775 we ''see'' you have...

  • united nations small arms treaty

is being passed under every ones nose at the senate by Obama and Hillery there is a petition against this so sign as fast as you can also there is a lot of people who have been getting raided illegally using pot as an excuse get please past this message to every gun video you see

  • to jeenyus and aussie: you r both wrong.

the nato is a 7.62x51 which is exactly the same as a .308 exept case properties and powder differences the actual bullet is EXACTLY the same. and also a 7.62 is not a 7.65. they r diff there is also a 7.92 but im sure u think its the same. and the russian round is a 7.62x39 the bullets are diferent size and shape then 7.62x51. but all the 7.62 is is a measure of diameter in millimeters and in that respect they r the same. learn some shit

  • @WeatherbySven87 uh 7.62 russian is 7.62x54 rimmed, which is .311 or .310 depending on bore, and btw .308 does not equal 7.62, .300 does, and that is measured land to land not groove to groove, 7.62x39 are also .311(7.62 SOVIET) , which is groove to groove, you going to tell me that a .303 MIC's out at .303 now? guess what its also .311 so in that respect they are not the same, on a side note your grammar is horrible

  • how far away is it and how thick is the steel?

  • 50 yards,steel is about 1/4 inch.

  • damn very strong gun!!! gonna buy me one where did you buy it!?

  • on behalf of the youtube community, i accept your apology for making such a crappy video...

  • @rllang01 not bad for an OLD cell phone camera.

  • @rllang01 on behalf of the youtube community, i accept you apology for forceing a potato to record this crappy vidieo. :D

  • turn volume to full b4 watching i highly recommend

  • hmm... don't take it too personal; but this vid looks like a dos game and sounds like 8 1/2 bit

  • None taken,I have a better camera now.And many more vids.

  • k, i'll take a look at those;-)

i was just being amused by the vid thoughXD

  • @snake9510 It is so obnoxious how all these "Earnest Needledicks" criticize videos that simply show the effects of different rifle cartridges on various media. This video was not made to show on the Discovery Channel or to be shown on a high definition movie screen. It is merely an example of what damage the two different rounds can inflict. Go back to your Dungeons and Dragons game.

  • You should do this same test with Green-tip penetrators in the 5.56. Cant fire those in most indoor ranges because even the ricochets can go through the steel walls.

  • yes .308 is 7,56mm and 223 is 5.56mm

  • .308 = 7.62mm and .223 = 5.56mm ?

  • @bodebrutal .308 Winchester and 7.62x51mm cartridges are not exactly the same. There are minor differences in their inner case dimensions

  • Yepp, altough civilian rounds are usually of higher grain since they were made to kill much tougher things than humans

  • Just so you don't get confused, the .308 Winchester = the 7.62 X51mm Nato cartridge, which is much more powerful and has a superior range to the 7.62 X39mm Soviet (AK 47) cartridge. The only real difference between the .308 and 7.62X51 is the higher pressures on the barrel.

  • correct.

  • Actually-close...I went into my local gun shop and was looking for ammo for my sks(I reload) and just needed projectiles...well I grabbed a box of .308 and quickly was corrected by a buddy of mine who works there that the 7.62 is actually indeed .308-however most 7.62's are actually 7.65 therefore I learned that i needed .311 to load my 7.62-I'm curious if this remains true for the .308 win.....

  • @Jeenyus1983

7.62 NATO (or 308 Win) is .308 diameter

7.62 Russian rounds are .310 or .311 diameter

  • i tried this already but i guess it didnt work. @aussie and jeenyus. 7.62x51 is nato. 7.62x39 is russian. all the 7.62 means is the diameter in millimeters so they r the same. and a 7.62 is not a 7.65 or it would be called a 7.62 not a 7.65 genious

  • @WeatherbySven87 .308 all the way over that russian 7.62x39. but the svd round(7.62x54) is pretty badass

  • yes, son

  • I have shot .22lr American Eagle and I was really satisfied with the performance. No misfires, accurate. I just wish .308 was cheaper :(

  • The .308 in military fmj will always hit harder than the .223. Once you get away from military ammo and use ballistic tip or some of the hunting hp designs both rounds will do devastating damage. I use M4 (.223) for deer . Out of 10 I've only had to shoot 1 with a follow up shot. Accuracy is in the gun, the shot is what you do!

  • The military does have to use less affective 5.56, and the good non nato stuff is pretty mean, but to compare ANY .223/5.56 to .308 is laughable imo

  • Bad info. The .308 and .223 have entirely different levels of energy.

The .223 is an "intermediate" cartridge that's compromises power with size and weight, like the 7.62x39.

The .308 is a true rifle cartridge with over double the energy and far more effective range.

  • American Eagle is pretty cheap. how well does it shoot? Mag-tech absolutely sucks, biggest waste of money on ammo i've ever spent.

  • The American Eagle groups averaged around 1.5" I had better result with 150 gr. UMC 1" average.@100 yards. American Eagle is ok for cheap ammo, but not great.

  • Try that Federal Power-shok 150gr. I get sub-MOA with that stuff. with my Savage 10FP

  • .308 FTW!

  • Accuracy makes all the difference...But the 7.62 has some ass-kicking power.

  • to bad quality but nice Sniper

  • the last cool you can see how to shot in the middle

sorry ik kan nie engels praten XD

  • The US military developed the 308 round in the 50's to replace the 30-06. The 308 is almost identical in performance to the 30-06 (the 30-06 can be roughly 150 to 200 FPS faster) Yet the 308 is much more efficient of a round than the 30-06, using bullets of the same weight. The 308 gets more muzzle velocity out of less powder, whereas the 30-06 uses much more powder for only a little bit more velocity. The 308 is also smaller. An excellent round.

  • i hunt with the 308 it gets the job done

  • The .30-06 is our heritage. .308 is still slightly weaker. It's hard to describe, but some people just prefer the .30-06.

  • not so,, 30-06 is a jack of all trades this is the reason of it,s popularity

  • @ideos5 i heard its gonna become harder to buy

  • what did you take this with your cell phone

  • Yep.Only camera I had at the time. Was a good learning experience for me.I have a better camera now.

  • "5.56 takes a copple rounds to take someone out in a fire fight unless u get a chance to get em in the chest or head"

5.56 or 7.62 ... youre not gonna KILL your target unless you get that chest or head shot ... you might actually have a better chance with the 5.56 as it fragments leaving you with a higher possibility of hitting a main artery. however i do know someone who took an AK round to the thigh and hes alive and "kickin"

you should know this shit if youre gonna rock the name "usmcrecon"

  • bullshit. the 223 is the same then 5.56mm.223 is just inches and 5.56mm is MILLIMETER

  • thats bullshit let me shoot you with a .223 in the chest and see how your feeling for about 10 seconds befor you die

  • yeah dude i think they should talk to those guys a DPMS they make a pretty mean ass ar-15 that shoots a 308

  • hey guys im turning 16 soon and im buying my first rifle (once i get my license) Remington 700 .223 or .308...I've pretty much chosen on the 700

  • .308... you'll never find the ammo for a .223, especially in the south

  • Dumbass. 223 is 5.56 which is surplus. so theres TONS! way more than a 308

  • let's split hairs, 5.56 has a higher chamber pressure than .223

  • Is there a difference between .308Win and 7.62NATO also?

  • no no no. 223 is not military ammo 5.56 nato is military ammo

7.62 is military ammo. they have thicker brass. its cheaper to buy bulk military ammo

  • Yes. Google headspacing. Stay away from wikipedia for anything. Well, I am not sure what they are saying today, but you can not shoot 308 in a military rifle, but you can shoot 7.62 in a 308. If somebody says that is backwards, forget everything they tell you.

  • 7.62Nato ammo has thicker brass walls. This ammo is made to be used in an array of different weapons, including belt fed weapons that have looser tolerances in the chambers (as apposed to bolt action guns with very secure chambers) because of this the brass needs to be stronger (thicker) otherwise you can have a case separation in the chamber. You should not use commercial 308 ammo in military style weapons, like a CETME or G3. Surplus ammo also usually has crimped primers.

  • yeah it's like the 5.56 223remi hing the .308 has higher pressures so you cant shoot it out of a 7.62chambered rifle

i have allso heard that the head spacing is slighly diff witch makes a 7.62 shell un reloadable once fired in a 308 but i dont know if that is true

  • correct.

  • 223 is not 5.56. 5.56 is a NATO round with a higher pressure and no one should shoot a 5.56 in a gun chambered for 223. You can however shoot 223 in a gun chambered for 5.56. 5.56 is currently what military uses but dosent have to be surplus, you can buy it at any walmart (Winchester and a couple other new production brands) or hunting store. My favorite ammo is the surplus lake City penetrator 62gr ammo (Steel core). It would easily cut through this steel like butter, but is a little spendy.

  • just curious, why would you have trouble finding 223's in the south?

we have the opposite problem here in australia, once your licensed its no trouble getting ammo, but it takes so long to get a permit!!!and no semi autos anymore either :(

  • dude that sucks you should move to texas you can buy a gun every day if you got the money just no fully autos

  • wow thats the gayest shit i have ever heard fuck that if they tried to make me get a permit and no semi auto i would do somethin crazy bomb there asses or somethin

  • what do you mean youll never find the ammo for a .223 in the south? if you have a walmart near by or a gun shop near by you can find the ammo for a .223 at any of them

  • DEFINITELY I DID LOL =P

  • Because its selling like free gas! None of the stores around here including the large chains can keep it in stock.

  • ya .223 is military ammo there is a shit load more of it laying around in warehouses than there is .308 in houses across north america

  • .308's a NATO round as well my friend.

.223 isn't- a 5.56x45 is though. Depending on what gun you're shooting you could buy wolf in bulk and save a crapload. Don't buy this ammo for an AR-15 though. generally you won't have a good day, seeing as the steel casings don't feed too well.

    Best of luck sir.

  • .223 is not a military round. 5.56mm is military. .223 is a civilian round designed by remington. 5.56 has a higher chamber pressure which makes it unusable in .223 chambered guns.

  • you can shoot 5.56 through .223, i shoot 5.56 through my mini14 and it hasnt hurt it at all

  • thats because Ruger designed it to handle the higher chamber pressures of 5.56x45

some guns can fire both (many of the AR-15 clones handle both) - but it's best to check with the manufacturer, or check the owners manual.

  • No you shouldnt do that.they are two different rounds! you can shoot .223 thru a 5.56 but not the other way round, You if you dont hurt yourself you will absolutely hurt your rifle! the chamber neck & throat dimension differences may increase chamber pressures when firing "Hot" (Mil Spec?) 5.56mm ammo in .223 chambers. From the Ammo Oracle- Shooting 5.56 Mil-Spec ammo in a SAAMI-specification chamber can increase pressure dramatically, up to an additional 15,000 psi or more.

  • not true i fire 5.56 out of my .223 all the time. if all you fucken retards take a second to think you would realize that there is a blow off valve on the side of the gun. if you want ill make a vid of me shooting 5.56 out of a .223

  • .38/.357 anyone?

    sounds familiar right?

  • This is an old wives' tale. You will not "absolutely" hurt your rifle; in fact the chances are very remote.

The pressure difference is exaggerated big time. It's about 5%. No modern rifle is going to blow up. Millions of people in this country shoot .223/5.56 and there isn't an epidemic of people blowing their hands off.

If you have a tight target rifle, you might get a cartridge stuck in the chamber (military rifles have slacker clearances for reliability).

  • @louistheimpotant some of RRAs barrels can accept both rounds.

  • @louistheimpotant not you shouldnt! YOU MUST NOT! lol, couldnt have said it better.

  • @j10mo thank you someone that knows something i fire it thought my mini 14 and savage no problems at all

  • Most .223 guns (AR-15) are made to mil spec.

  • What do you plan on using the rifle for ?

  • i got the remington 700VTR in .308, i love that rifle.

it was that or the remingting 700 sps varmint

  • Thats a big difference. The 223 is for coytotes, possibly foxes. Maybe deer (if your an excellent shot) The .308 is for deer sized game. Go with a 30-06. More ammo to choose from; 125 grain for yotes. All the way to 220 for moose. Its more versatile and more widely found, is faster, and hits harder. The 308 is barely flatter, but that doesnt matter if you know your shot! I have one in 30-06 and LOVE IT! its my first rifle (after a 22 a few weeks prior)

  • really no point is using such strong guns if your close by. but a 308 for like 250 yards? just use a 243 for deer. federal makes a bullet you should look in to. *barns tripple shock* goes straight caribou even with a 243 at 200 yards.

  • Look into a 25/06, best of both worlds.

  • I love mine! I think its one of the best deer cartridges available

  • you will find plenty of .223 ammo dont listen to him

but i would deff say that you go with 308 or 270 both nominally versatile rounds with plenty of diff choices for ammo

  • Now you just need a full auto FAL with a 100 round drum, lol.

  • .308 all day every day

  • .308

  • .308 wins (can you test .308 vs 30-6?)

  • .308 is a perfect round.

  • i want to try a 308. i have a 30-06 so is it really comparable to the 308? ive heard the debate online but im not convinced that its really better. i mean the army is now going for smaller, lighter, but faster bullets, but not so much in this case. its slower, weeker, and basically the same wieght (the bullets i know are the same). but i have heard it has better trajectory, so is that why the army and others prefer this round or are there other reasons?

  • .308 just has a better-designed case. The powder burns more precisely and consistently from shot to shot, meaning consistent pressure and consistent velocity. That's what makes the groups smaller. The .30-06 can deliver more power and range, but it can't be as precise.
