I take it something in the soap solution ignites the combustion of the methane? Either that or its the other way around.

The methane gas was pumped into the washing up liquid, causing the bubbles to contain methane gas. As you ignite the gas, it erupts into flames but the hand doesn't get fried - it's only warm. I did this in the lab today, it was fun =)
