I thought that the person from 2:13 to 2:16 is Elrond the Lord of Rivendell, it is only now that I know that this man is in fact Gil-galad the last High King of the Noldor. Elrond was not standing within the ranks of Rivendell elves (I thought would also composed of archers from Lothlórien) contrary to what I assumed before, he may either standing before them and with the ranks of Noldor warriors composed mostly of infantry (spear and sword) and he is not commanding the archers in first line

personally i think they need to make a movie on the silmarillion someday because this short explanation really is nowhere near enough to explain all of the events leading upto the hobbit and the lord of the rings i really really hope they do i mean they made 8 harry potter movies for godsake its not like they'd be milking it tolkien wrote the silmarillion over his whole career he just never got to publish it finally all of his books are so epic you can't really go wrong

@Ramzzy666 The only problem with this idea--aside from the sheer cost--is the sheer size of the simarillion. the original manuscript, as it were, was literally two feet thick. The publishers literally had NO idea what to do with it until Tolkien's family stepped in to help. Not to mention it's "technically" unfinished. The Simarillion is really meant to be supplementary reading for the stories. Not to mention that Harry Potter sold untold copies in a very short time (cont)

@HerrCollier thereby ensuring the producers (the guys who shell out the money for a film) would make SOMEthing back on it. Even after the LOTR movies came out, most folks who saw and liked them still have never even read the Simarillion. Sure, some clever advertising would reel folks in for the first two, but after that it would get bogged down in all of the backstory, histories, poems, etc. In short: the Simarillion was never meant to be just "a story" on it's own. @HerrCollier It was meant to be, as stated, history and backstory; everything leading up to "now," aka the HObbit and LOTR. You might attempt to, at best, make a miniseries out of it, but even then, it would STILL get bogged down in the countless poems and branching tales. A movie has to focus on one, consistent storyline, not try and display to the audience an entire universe's existence. The HP films do this. A film series based on Simarillion could not, simply due to the text's very nature.

@RedLegionFilms Sauron did not actually have a hand in making the three Elven rings: these the Elves made in secret, and because Sauron had no part in their creation he had no power over them. The Dwarves (who's rings excited their lust of gold) could not be influenced by Sauron as he would have like (for reasons unknown) but over time he succeeded in collecting three of the Dwarven rings himself. By the time of the films we see Galadriel, Elrond and Gandalf are the bearers of the Elven rings.
