I like the ending song the best <3 One of my favorite animes, much different from other ones i've seen(animation, plot, etc.) Thumbs up if you agree! :D
I hated the fact that Anna died in the end! Just when D'Eon was getting back to France....
I guess he stopped living the life of a man and switched into a woman, becoming "Lia" in the process. Still, it's sad that D'Eon's an old man again and is still sad at all the friends he lost, the loyalty he held in such high esteem, & his post as a true Knight for the Royal family all go to waste, while he outlives each & everyone of those he met.
Still an awesome anime in all. Tragic & enjoyable in all
@higurashimori sort of a intrigue/action title. Good mystery. But its also a nice period piece. (Actually D'eon was a real historical figure too. With quite the weird life!)
@windragon379 Maximillien being true son of the king and queen he is also the brother of lia and lover the king found out and so they try to separate them killing lia in the process. now infuriated max is out for revenge and as he carry on he discovered that things isn't what it seems
This anime is most certainly underrated! It's amazing. Yes, it takes a bit to truly get exciting, but it certainly pays off the patience with a most intricate plot and amazing growth of the characters as they are all unveiled.
There were plenty of things I feel I didn't catch, though. Who'd be kind enough to explain to me a few of the motives of some characters, such as Maximillien Robespierre's?
@gingersnapshard666 Sort of a Swashbuckling period piece with some Occult magic thrown in. I thought the story was good, the characters are quite awesome. Even the villians you will like them. Nice set design. And actually some of the characters are based of real life people.
I have to point out why they have the tricolore as the french flag in the opening, its historically innaccurate as the series takes places in 1753, before the french revolution, and back then the flag would have been the fleur des leys
but in the series the characters are working to prevent a revolution from happening in order to preserve the political stability and security of not just france but the whole of europe. It's about preserving the status quo isn't it, the power of the monarchy and the divine right of kings and all that
ah I'm still watching the series haven't had time to watch as much as I would like to, don't mean to sound like a hippocrite who pretends to know stuff btw
@ReaLina123456789 Indeed, after watching all the episodes, I realised that the opening containt several "hidden" spoiler, two about the destiny of two characters!
well i finish it jus thought people might wanna know :) . it was really good lil confusing near the end but i got it 4.5/5(i never give 5/5 unless its utterly outstanding!!
its a great anime but the only thing i dont get is why the opening is the way it is because after the first couple of episodes it gives away the ending.(well this is sorta speculation seeing how im on episode 22 but still...)
I remember watching this, it's really good! I love the history in it! It was awesome ^^ And all the people with dates under their names in the ending were real people :D
@languagemaster5 It's true that most manga in "modern context" take place in Japan (it's rather natural), but actually a huge amount of "historical manga" take place in Europe, and often in France yeah (Bara no Versailles, on of the two most important shojo in history in Japan take place in 18th century France too).
I think that Japanese like European history, oh and just look at manga of heroic-fantasy, most of them take place in a middle-age context (more or less) european.
It is a great series. My only nitpick is that MANY historical facts were screwed up. For example, the N.A. colonies were given to Britain because they lost the Seven Years War (F&I war in N.A.), not because France was trying to avoid a war as portrayed in the series. :(
can someone please explain what the hell happened in the end? it makes absolutely no sense to me... so is maximillian and lia brother and sister? like wtf? and robin just went off on his own was that him with his head being chopped off with a guilletine?
@superawesomecaroline : Yep, they were brother and sister, and yes, Robin end head off, according he tooks the place of Maximilien to beacame the "true" Robespierre of France history, who was executed after a short reign of terror
Historicaly this anime is terrible, very imprecise about people who actualy existed. The end was confuse and about who was the Lia's killer it was a great surprise.
I've read the manga and LOVE it, now I have to get my hands on the anime. I know they are pretty different from one another but it still looks like it would be worth the purchase.
Le Chevalier D'Eon has one of the best ending sagas I've seen in an anime. I watched the series two episodes a night, but when I got to episode 20, the plots twists and drama were so riveting I watched the last six episodes in one go. "Largeburger" is right: this is a touching show. The characters are complex and well-developed, leading to a strong emotional attachment on the part of the viewer.
