Firstly, it has a massive and devoted modding community which are still producing and updating their mods to this very day across multiple websites. Secondly, at the time, Oblivion had a very emersive and well told story that took you to all corners of its entirely free-roam map following main story or not. Thirdly, it made the first-person rpg experience great. Hack and slaching has never been better.

@TJOate LOL, dude if graphics were any sort of factor in what makes a good game then I suggest you for role play in a park reserve, I hear real life graphics are ultra realistic... The story isn't told well it's full of cliche's and the voice acting is horrible. It's not immersive all the npcs looks like they live in the uncanny valler. Hacking and slashing has never been better? I'd take Z targetting any way, i far too often hit ally npc's in oblivion.

@TJOate One more thing about the melee combat. It takes far to long ot raise the shield it's usually too busy catching up on button clicks, much easier jsut to walk back and doge it. Also whats up with the health system. The number of times I have had to go and entertain myself of my laptop while my magicka regenerates so i can cast a pitifull healing spell on my night so that I don't charge into hte next room with an inch of health is fustrating. Go to metacritic and compare the games.
