I see your point but then they have had about 5 years building his character up and the fans still haven't really warmed to him, many are very hostile. With Cenas personality they could have made him a Jericho style heel a couple of years ago. They have to do something because you cant have the champ coming out to a silent arena.

Comparing the current state of the WWE to the glory years of WCW at this time and the WWF back in the day...it just doesn't work. The current product in WWE doesn't hold a candle to the 1980's WWF, the 1990's WCW, or the late '90's WWF. It's dead and buried.

I was at this event... I don't remember a lot except for Luger beating the holy high hell out of Savage in a match, Doug Dillinger holding up a sign entitled "The Wave" before the show, the two dudes, Parker and whoever else that was, beating the crap out of each other headed to the ring, and Savage eventually winning the event. I sat way, way, way up in the nosebleed seats. I was so high up that I could see people walking around in the catwalk.

Going heel was the smartest thing Hogan ever did in his career and i don't even like him that much.
