@sebastiaan356 Dude I have a Squier and it sounds just like an american. Play a "Good" squier and youll notice how good it is. Trust me, some might be crapy but some might be perfect... :)

However, strats generally have pretty thin necks, and if you used to an acoustic neck then you may appreciate the thickness of a Les Paul or SG.

@agcowly Google the Epi Vintage G-400 or Vintage VS6. The former is a great value SG style guitar which has almost unbeatable value for money. Set-neck mahogany for £170 is very cheap, and the build quality of mine was almost flawless. Add a new set of pups from IronGear or Tonerider, and you have a hell of a guitar for the money.
The latter is a direct competitor to the G-400, and essentially does the same thing with better pups. However, I've never played one myself and can't vouch for it.
@Juliaaaan97 Changing the action on the strings to be higher usually helps a little with things like pinch harmonics. And You'd probably do with using the pickups closer to the bridge, but it all comes down to technique.
@wicky615 Type "Adjusting the string height/action on your guitar" into the youtube search bar and there's a video available that explains how to perform the adjustment and what the difference between High/Low string heights is.
@Juliaaaan97 Just remember...Guitars don't do metal!...we see this all the time on YOU-TUBE ....Its the player that does' metal, however...dual humbuckers produce a more metal sound , some of the Squier Bullets have humbuckers in them, also an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, or a ESP LTD 10 would be a much better choice for learning Metal [ what in HELL is metal anyway? ] Just learn to play regular guitar, and Metal will come later!!!....poppa
@GoldenModz Old Squiers are much, much better than new ones though.
Old Squiers are on par with MIM Fenders, while most new ones (apart from some of the higher end lines like the Classic Vibe series) are pretty useless.
IMO, anyone who wants a good starter guitar should look at spending closer to £200 than £100, as the price to quality ratio with guitars is especially steep at the entry-level stage.
@TheNeutralFan I have to disagree here mate, look up new production of squiers in china. They went FAR better than they were a year ago. Go try one out, they have kinda different headstock and are disappearing from stores quickly. I got one and I have just enough high quality guitars to take my advice serious. I am not fan of the fretwork though, but for the price :D

Squiers made 20+ years ago are generally great, as I say easily on par with modern MIM Fender strats. However, in my experience modern Squiers are pretty pathetic offerings (with the notable exception of the Classic Vibe series).
If Squier have stepped up their game on their cheaper strats to match how it was 30 years ago, that's brilliant news.
i have one made in china and it goes out of tune after every bend, the tremolo is useless, the paint scratches easily and there is something red underneath it, looks horrible, the pickups rusted in a few months of use and sound crappy and weak. so thats about it.

I got the same one, a sunburst. I've put a black pickguard on it and Fender Tex Mex pickups in it. It sounds sooooo much better with the Tex Mex pickups! Maybe i'm gonna relic it, like ageing the chrome parts and sanding some paint off of it. But I don't know if i'm gonna do that. I have a squire, and its pretty sexy, but, IT IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT EVER. I have the exact one as you, sept mines like a 50's blue. The pickups suck, the screws are all krooked, it is just terriblt put together. Im not saying I hate it, it's decent for $150 canadian (including tax) but if your going to get a guitar and have some money, go epiphone. awesome starter. personally, les paul would be the one. the only reason I have this guitar is cuz its cheap.

How come every Strat Squier Bullet has the input hole (or whatever) at an angle to the guitar? I've never seen one like mine, where you plug the cord in exactly perpendicular to the instrument.
Well, I think everything depends on the colour of the guitar. I prefer pickguards triple ply, but a single ply cream pickguard can look nice on a placid blue guitar

I have a squire, and its pretty sexy, but, IT IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT EVER. I have the exact one as you, sept mines like a 50's blue. The pickups suck, the screws are all krooked, it is just terriblt put together. Im not saying I hate it, it's decent for $150 canadian (including tax) but if your going to get a guitar and have some money, go epiphone. awesome starter. personally, les paul would be the one. the only reason I have this guitar is cuz its cheap.

squiers r very good but the bulet strat is a bit crappy, u shud have gotten an affinity or standard or even a deluxe edition nd it wouldnt have been a lot more, ok amp btw

How come every Strat Squier Bullet has the input hole (or whatever) at an angle to the guitar? I've never seen one like mine, where you plug the cord in exactly perpendicular to the instrument.

Well, I think everything depends on the colour of the guitar. I prefer pickguards triple ply, but a single ply cream pickguard can look nice on a placid blue guitar
