Because the male lion is busy defending his pride & territory especially to other male lions that would try to challenge him or dethroned him and busy mating with all the females in his pride using up most of his energy in the process.

bengal tigers are more fierce than sibirian tigers. But sibirians are bigger but bengal seem 2 have killed sibirian in pit fights. As the bengal tiger is the same size or sometimes smaller than a lion. A lion could kill a big sibirian tiger.
