  • The video reminds me "Closer" video by NIN, and it sounds industrial as NIN, did they collaborate in this song with Bowie?

  • 私の永遠のtheme song

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I love this song, the gore-punk atmosphere is GREAT.

I love David with that crazy-little devil face. He is the only one able to appear with that look and keep on being so handsome , at the same time.

DAVID, I GO ALONG WITH YOU TO THE PSIQUIATRIC WARD! (shared room, please...)

  • Forget how good the song is, just watch the performance by Bowie. Amazingly expressive. A complete artist.

  • This feels way more recent than 1995. What a genius Bowie is.

  • scenography seems like La Fura dels Baus

  • Great song, though I thought I was watching Rammstein...

  • Holy Hell this is Great ! Didn't know he teamed up with NIN, dark n seedy but with a hook

  • @patrickalous Well he did but this wasn't it. This had nothing to do with Nine Inch Nails.

  • I watched Se7en recently for the first time and this song came up at the end and I just listened and shouted out 'SHIT. IT'S BOWIE'

  • The movie Seven was shite and David Bowie said so himself.

This song is great and has nothing to do with murder.

  • I love that madness thing...

  • i friggin L O V E this song

  • You know how some songs just sound better with that rain theme in the background? Try this one with some porn .

  • to me this is the best song from bowie

  • david bowie i now love u even more cuz of this song

  • "The "Hearts Filthy Lesson" video features a band of "punks" who ritually dismember a mannequin—obviously meant to represent Osiris-Dionysus, the "Hanged Man". In alchemy, too, as in the Vision of Zosimos, there are frequently acts of dismemberment and disintegration prior to reintegration. What is the "Hearts Filthy Lesson"? It is "death," answers Bowie in the 1995 press kit—the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge."

  • @MyUrine15 This was made before Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People" video and the Antichrist superstar album... so Bowie did it first ;)

  • bowies best

  • perfect

  • Perfect song for Seven's Soundtrack... would love to hear Trent and Him duet this like they did with Reptile.

  • He was trying to capitalize on the success of NIN.

  • @benito73 everyone was!

  • @benito73 Trent Reznor was hugely inspired by David Bowie, as were most cutting edge artists.

  • @NoDestinyLive4Now Seems like this video was done in the style of the "Closer" video. I think one of Bowie's band members wore the infamous "crucifix mask" from that video during live shows

  • @AliceNchainz011 I'm not familiar with the crucifix mask, so no I'll have to look that up. Cheers

  • @NoDestinyLive4Now Oh ya, its from the video for NIN's "Closer"...makes sense for Trent and Bowie to make nods from each other lol

  • Ziggy Stardust meets Hannibal Lectar...

  • Suffice to say 'charismatic'

  • one word: se7en

  • @treksez yep... just more proof that Bowie can do ANYTHING and make it awesome! :)

  • 1:42 Evil!

  • @youreg and sexy :)

  • @TenthBlackRose That always goes without saying :O

  • i love this song but it's so underated and it should have more views

  • 90´s Bowie

  • I had to play Outside so many times before it became my favorite. It's awesome.

  • This is Bowie's best song since Ashes To Ashes and one of his best ever videos. Plain.

  • @metalhen It's crazy that Outside is anybody's favourite Bowie album. I say that in a sincere positive manner.

  • they played this at the industrial club I go to the other night...I totally worked a pole to it

  • @vettechinheart I really hope you're a woman. Lol.

  • @MyUrine15 Truth. He even proposed to Ditta Von Tease during a Bowie gig whilst he was singing 'Be My Wife' if I recall.

  • okay i just have to say this is soooooooooooooooooooooooo NIN-esque !!!!!!

  • video twin of NIN's closer!

  • @emmabrkrshrp I'm not a NIN expert. The question is, which came first? lol. They did tour together for this album. Bowie and NIN are pretty influential on each other I guess.

  • @arabiansanchez Just answered my own question; NIN's Closer was one year earlier :-)

  • @arabiansanchez I looked it up and NIN released the song Closer in 1994, while H.F.L. was released in the September of 1995! Trent from NIN worked with Bowie on some stuff, so its not surprising they have some similarities! Both are totally bitchin!

  • Remind anyone of Manson, and NIN? <3

  • cool

  • Bowie was a revolutionary musician/stylist/tastemaker before Brian Warner was even born. Cart before horse. Ziggy Stardust was Marilyn Manson before Marilyn Manson was Marilyn Manson.

  • @MyUrine15

Yes, I agree. Manson-esque. But Manson is in many ways a hilarious version of Bowie. But I'm afraid dear Marilyn doesn't realise it. Don't get me wrong I like some of the Marilyn Manson tracks very much and think he's a great entertainer, but for some odd reason I always get the impression when he's acting furious & angry on stage that he must be beaten up a lot at school when he was a kid. Or they stole his bike...:-)

  • @Jofph

boy he uses the Ziggy Stardust emblem.

    Just saying.

That lighting you've spotted on the drumset??

    Yeah

  • ME SUPERMEGA ENCANTO EL VIDEO. ADEMAS BOWIE SIEMPRE HA SIDO Y SERA LA MAXIMA EXPRESION MUSICAL EN EL ROLLO ALTERNATIVO GLAM Y TODOS ESOS GENEROS QUE LO CARACTERIZAN

  • I always feel like this video should have been created by the Brothers Quay, it so has their atmosphere...

  • this was the future. This was jaw dropping when it came out. This was the new. This was Bowie back. It was art. It is art.

    ,,,,

  • Why does everybody think that Bowie IS LIKE Reznor or Manson?? Practically they are his sons... He is not like them... It's the opossite....

  • hey! at :32 isn't that Me'Shell Ndegeocello??? remember "if that's your boyfriend (he wasn't last night)! that song was pretty boss. I'd swear thats her and she's rolled with the Bowie Flagship on more than a few occasions...

  • If Salvadore Dali had written rock music, this is how it would sound!

  • it was made on 1995 and sounds like the future...

  • WHY DAVID, WHY?

No seriously. This is such a rip-off of NIN...

  • @TheEloeo Trent reznor helped with this album , incluiding this song , thats probally why :) , plus it was the 90's he made it his own atleast

  • @TheEloeo I think MR. Reznor helped with the music or influenced in this song and definetly did the music in I'm afraid of aAmericans and definitely did a remix of this song,

  • this is like a mix of "closer" and "tourniquet" so awesome

  • i honestly wish Bowie starting doing heavy stuff like this, not the other boring mellow stuff

  • if only Bowie made more songs like this i would actually listen to him, this song is AMAZING

  • Bowie has 20/20 vision where the rest of the world is wearing bifocals.

    Genius

  • My favourite music video. People talk about image and stars like Kylie, Madonna and Lady Ga Ga, but few people understand presentation better than Bowie. He's a chameleon and he doesn't only make the most of himself, he also understands how to get the best out of other people on his behalf. This is sublime.

  • Looks like Bowies trying to rip of NIN here

  • @kinkabala If that's the case then the feelings mutual. Listen to NIN's 'A Warm Place' and then 'Crystal Japan'. I'm pretty sure they were touring together around this time as well.

  • @darkieschmuckie point made.. however AWP gives it far more of an edge imo.

Bowies attempt to steal back in this did not work so well. not even close.

  • @kinkabala Fair enough I love both 'versions' if you could call it that as well as both artists. Bowie himself has described himself as a 'culture vulture'. I would say this song lends itself more to Einsturzende Neubauten more than NIN imo but I can definitely see the similarities with Closer and this video though. I'll give you that.

  • To think that Samuel Bayer, the director of this video, also directed the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street. How did he go from making this creepy little gem to that crapfest?!

  • omigod. this is sooo completely different from any other kind of music.

and this is why I love him so much.

ladies and gentlemen, david bowie is STILL in the building.

    he never left! XD <3

  • so twisted. i love it.

didn't trent reznor work on this with him?

  • @learntospel true! it's very obvious! reznor's signature cannot be missed in bowie's (even more obvious in "i'm afraid of americans") or manson's work from that period of the 90's! he was the "man" then! he still is, in my opinion, the master of this genre! only sorry to have never seen NIN live!

  • Freaky Song And Video! BUT I LIKE IT!

  • The director of this musicvideo can be proud. Perfect!

  • Yeah...it's ALL the same! Manson's "Beautiful People" video is pretty much the SAME as this! Same "tone" and same video imagery.....NOBODY is original! Oh...except LAMB OF GOD!!!! L.O.G. RULES!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @DaddyFatStax I love Lamb Of God but they aren't that original... Pantera were doin pretty much the exact same style back in the day!

  • that's right, Closer, Antichrist Superstar ;) ... 'Fin de siecle' we can say . Did you see Bowie in the computer game Nomad Soul?

  • The man is a legend period!

  • The whole 90's industrial era was a really ballsy move on David's part. To think he started doing cornball folk/pop.

  • I'm surprised no one pointed out the resemblance to NIN's Closer and Manson's Antichrist Superstar videos.

  • @T0PSLAYER117 it resembles more Save Yourself from Stabbing Westward than those really.

  • Bowie is fuckin' hot!!!!!!

  • Couldn't it be easier than this?

  • Impressive!

  • Thumbs up if u think Mr Bowie could make any any Genre music still sound sick!

  • FAMOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS

it eats my eyes and tears soul

  • I love the NIN remix of this !!!!

  • This video is sh*t scary.................. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Bowie, you have an amazing ability to create sane madness!

  • Typical Bowie genius. This clip should almost have a warning for minors. LOL But its brilliant the whole concept. The most brilliant entertainer ever. He is a singer, an actor and a genius. He is just brilliant!!! Nothing else to say!!!

  • Sam Bayer's style with music videos resemble lot of David Fincher's great videos. This absolutely is one of the greatest music videos ever made. Dark, twisted and very visionary stuff from Bayer.

  • Awesome film director.

  • by far the best video and song ever made

  • This is extremely scary but, considering that bowie is sex personified, it is still completely amazing

  • was very young when this came out. First introduction to David Bowie. What a wonderful turn in life.

  • Wow!!!

  • It's like a fine wine I could drink this song daily!

  • "Picasso" is written all over it...

  • Beautiful...

  • Doesn't get better than this. Bowie & Bayer. What a duo.

  • ROCK GOD!

  • David Bowie IS sex. that's all there is to it.

  • @frecklemaggie

    eeeeeeuuuuuuh

  • @frecklemaggie Uh. No. He's a MUSICIAN. THAT'S all there is to it. Keep your dullard crap out of it.

  • @frecklemaggie

    agreed!

  • @frecklemaggie Oh, yeah... :)

  • Killer song!!!..Love it!

  • He is one bad motherfucker!

    Damn,this song is good.

  • This song is used for the closing credits for the movie "Seven" with Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt. The movie is brilliant. It is as dark and disturbing as this video. This song is a perfect choice for its close. What an artist Bowie is. Amazing.

  • I fricking love this!!!!!!!!!!!! Bowie is God

  • great song, creative video.

  • točeno v ČR na Barrandově:)

  • @orinoko1 to je vtip? na Barrandově?

  • @Adalbert101 není, opravdu se tady tenhle klip točil !
