is that a Duo Modular bass drum mount I see??? Just about to buy a Duo Modular kit myself & you don't see many of them around at all. Great technique & speed by the way! Nicely done!
Just put the Remo Control on top and a clear Ambassador on bottom. Sound just like yours. You really lose a lot of the snare snap with the thick bottom head. Sounds great !!! . Kinda cross beetween John Bonham, and Alex Van Halen sound. Very cool. Thanks !!
When he said 'black dot on the underside' he meant on the underside of the head there is a black dot, not using that head on the underside of the snare.
Hey i can relate... I started on guitar, and still play... Only in the past 3 years have i actually called myself a drummer.
I just moved into an apartment... And no drums... They are a solid 600 miles away. But i have a DW practice pad set which is pretty cool. So i get my practice now with that, until i can ship my kit here, or buy a new one! Thanks for watching!
Do you know how to have proper hand positioning via classical guitar? I got one for Christmas and have been struggling with proper hand position since.
I'm sure you could look it up on youtube... I can, kinda do it, But over the years a I adapted my own version of playing with my fingers.
It really is just a lot of practice and patience. Keep with it, it will get easier. I was too impatient and cheated, and have ever since! haha! My classical style is kinda like pete townsend of the Who.
Supraphonics rule! I too have one, but it's the 400 model (5"x14") from late 1979.
Right now on my snare, I got Gibraltar Die Cast Hoops, Remo Emporer X (batter head), Ludwig Weathermaster (snare head), and Puresound "Super 30" snare wires.
Anybody can get a Supra - ebay has 'em all day, everyday, if you aren't overly concerned about looking at them real close up they can be had for $150. - $200.00.Take your time and stay on top of the auctions for awhile and you'll snag one. They sound awesome - I got 3, gonna switch around, decide on one then put the other two back up on ebay - simple stuff, no tax !
Yeah i really like it. I had a Pork pie light... But it was just too thin and high. I love the supra phonic... It's fat and loud... And yeah you can make it super sensitive with the right head. hope that helps!
queens of the stone age are a good band, well better than good really, but dude, can we hear sumthing like maybe from your band if your in a band which i assume you are if youre not you should be
Hey thanks for the comments! Yeah i would love to post a video of my band. Problem is... i dont have one! People around here are in those shitty Emo/HXC/grindcore/deathmetal bands. They all sound the same, and i can't stand the screeching singers. Know anyone in michigan?
i come from a small town in new zealand. it is difficult to start a band here also. i have tried in the past but small town mentalitys always turn it to custard. good luck in your quest, perhaps we should collaborate online, i play guitar for 17+ years, most styles, im bored
Sydney is probably the best place to start a band for the type of music Wolfmother make. I mean i9 have one and im only 11! And it must be the way we're brought up cuz wolfmother were all brought up in sydney, and wolfmother make music like wolfmother right?(No i'm not incredibly stupid that was a joke. Doubt it will be funny cuz i0m not good wif em :P)
hahaha! I've come to the realization that the US music scene is pretty bad. There are few places/bands that are kickass for music. Other than that it all just sounds the same.
Such a beautiful snare drum.ooohh i just love the sound!
if you want to hear a good example of one check out led zeppelin live in royal albert hall,or madison square garden. Both concerts include john bonham's moby dick.
Such sweet Supra sound. Most of other Supra vids here show them tuned a lot higher. I'm still just dying to have one, I have never played or heard one live, but i heard they sound just amazing in any tune range. I also heard "everything you heard about this snare is true"!
By the way, my dad's band's first album was recorded with one, tuned low. Check it @ locomotores dot com / hotsite (Portuguese)
Hey! Thanks for the comment! And yes "Everything you heard about this snare is true!" hahaha! Your dads band sounds great! Thanks for sharing that! Very cool!
cool vid, yeah I just picked up a old Supraphonic too. They just sing, dont they? That beat your playing at 18 seconds in reminds me of "Territory" by Sepultura. Check it out, kewl beat and kewl song!
I love supraphonics! They are just a great snare! But yeah that beat is acutally from First it giveth by queens of the stone age. But Yeah i know territory and yeah it does sound alot like it! Thanks for the comment!
It's a Circa 80's Ludwig. I have another 14" mounted tom... But i dont use it. Other than that i can't tell you much about it. Other than its a late 80's maple ludwig with HUGE toms! hahaha! My uncle gave it to me.
It's a 20" Paiste formula 602. My uncle gave it to me about 15 years ago along with an 18" crash. They are in great condition and date back to 1967. (That is when he got them)

i want a supraphonic snare so bad. I've been saving my money to buy one.
tittyslave 4 years ago
just trying to be helpful...
both the supraphonic`s (400 or 402) models are made from aluminium not steel.
400`s measure 14" by 5",and 402`s measure 14" by 6 and a 1/2 ".
the models from the early 60`s were made from aluminum and brass, and these are rather sought after and quite expensive.
rix29 4 years ago
Hmm... well thank you for the info.
yeah mine is for sure a 402.
