@limpardoify Indeed - Maddix is a good drummer, and he was certainly arrogant enough to take over Reni's place! I've read some of his quotes at the time. But the guy had 2 weeks to nail the songs before the American tour, which is damn good going.
Unfortunately for him Reni is just in a different league - not just to Maddix but to pretty much any other sticksman I can think of. After he left the Roses Reni really should have just done a solo career like Gene Krupa - a standout drummer.
Ian Brown was here in Helsinki, Finland on the 18th feb 2010. It was simply amazing.. Nice to see one of my fave bands lead singer onstage @ tavastia.. And they played this tune as well so it was kind of to see the stone roses live if you know what I mean?:)
The Roses could've played any old shite really, with Reni on the stix it doesn't matter... the guy is a one man gig machine. With him on the drums it wouldn't even matter if they'd had a shite singer, ballsing up up every performance....oh wait a minute....
@BringBackReni well said pal..reni WAS the roses,he was like a fuckin walkin talkin stalkin machine of rhythmic vocal excellence....james brown, the byrds amd kieth moon all rolled into one , on a white dove...thats reni

Too much. He played too quickly and went overboard with the fills. When they chilled out a bit, and gave the melody some room to breath, they became a better band.
Magical! This was a definite creative highpoint for the band....if they had of recorded an album in this vein with the other tunes of this era- Somethings Burning, One Love, etc, who knows what they would of been capable of? We can only wonder...Great footage tho, thanx for sharing it.
Ian's voice is pretty good for Ian. Wonder why he has never found a set up which helps him sing in tune live (whether monitors so he can hear the band, or a lower mix so he doesn't sound bellow rather than sing, as in the Second Coming tour).
this stuff pisses all over blackpool footage, silvertone fukin edited all that gig or at least on the dvd they did they left off sally cinnamon and standing here, bastards!
Excellent. Interesting how they've managed to recreate this classic song on a live platform. So talented, every one of them, even Brownie sounds good here.

just plain wrong of the band to use a loop instead of have Reni play for real on the album.

Reni plays drums like a two tentacled Octopus that has learnt to utilise them both as if he has eight tentacles.
