He did use mata amp. But green amp usa where partners at one time with matamp. The greens sound really good for this type stuff they sound more like the old ones from what i hear. Matamp is great also id only buy a vintage one though. New id get electric green usa

Always annoys me that it is rarely mentioned how derivative from early melvins riffs all this stuff is. Which is not to say that it isn't, or can't be good in it's own right, but the similarity and influence is not open to argument.

@leoantonio the way I see it stoner/sludge/doom/whatever usually follows a pretty basic structure and a basic set of influences. I've heard far more bands who ape Sabbath or Pentagram down to the last detail than the Melvins. But you are right and I personally think Buzz deserves more acclaim and respect for being the pioneering guitarist that he is.

love the such hawks such hound documantary! when i first saw it I could not stop watching some of the scenes, like the pentagram interwiev in the beginning, and the sleep and kyuss parts! everything is cool about that movie. yesterday i also watched the obsessed documantay from '94, and really love that one too.

Hah, I think I've noticed the same tendency. Bay Area is generally pretty chill, and majority of doom-fans I've met are very laid-back and down-to-Earth, but at the same time, I've met some people who tried to show their superiority or something just because they know more bands and have seen Asbestos Death live and have copies of their records. I mean, it's cool and all, but not the reason to be a douche to someone, imo.

I have jerusalem, but matt says dopesmoker was not as "chopped up". i'll have to check that out. Thanks for this post! Been waiting for this for a long time. Just saw them on 9/5 at the gothic. F'n great!

@trilobite3339 Dopesmoker has more low end and it's longer. There's a sweet blast beat kinda part to it too. I find Jerusalem a little fuzzier because of the lack of bass.

@KvSwooo The bass does take over a little bit of the fuzziness on Dopesmoker. Jerusalem has a treblier EQ, which kinda lets the fuzz out. It's weird, I experience the same when I push the low end on my Orange and cut out all the treble.
