Incredible how people seem to forget that the Tories always have to clean up the shit-pile left when Labour have been in power.
We are now collectvely paying the price for vast numbers of people being made to think that they can have everything they ever wanted, for not very much in return. This time the numbers are much larger and I fear that 5 years will not be enough to turn the tide. If we go back to Labour within the next 15 years, we'll be in even bigger trouble. See past your own noses.
Well said. Also, when Brown mentions he presided over 10 years of 'growth and stability,' he forgets to identify that it was in fact 15 years as it started under Ken Clarke's magnificient stewardship of our economy. When Brown became Chancellor, inflation was 2.6% and essentially a dead issue. Interest rates were 6.5%, and unemployment was 1.6 million and falling faster than anywhere in Europe. Brown never acknowledged the stupendous inheritance he received. He just squandered it.
@TheGriff45 Can you point out what is ridiculous about anything I have said? It's all based on facts and figures man, there's nothing ridiculous about it. Fair enough, and yes that was a mistake, however Boris Johnson CONTINUES to praise them. Brown was indeed the right man to manage the economy, but I myself wasn't pleased with Labour's stint. They continued with many Tory policies, and effectively became a watered down Tory party. Brown/Milliband over Cameron anyday though.
Dude, you must not know anything about Brown to choose him over anyone, please tell me something he did which wasnlt an absolute disaster, you will pay for his mistakes.
@TheGriff45 Well the debt now is a price to pay for the collapse of the global economy. It wasn't brilliant at all, it's the whole reason we are in this mess, gobshite upper class bankers gambling away peoples mortgages for a bumper salary. No, I don't think it is acceptable, but the Tories didn't want to intervene in the economy. Do YOU not realise how catastrophic that would have been? You're the delusional one.
@TheGriff45 Then there was a bust, then a boom, then a bust. Then 3 million officially unemployed, but because she changed the definition of unemployment over 20 times, it was much closer to 4 million. What? What are you on about? Of course I know what debt is, but it is more of an investment so the whole system doesn't collapse. Didn't you want the government to intervene? I blame Thatcher for not regulating, and I blame BLAIR for not discontinuing Thatcher's policies.
@TheGriff45 As I said Labour have made mistakes, but nowhere near the amount the Tories have. That debt is more of an investment to save our economy, the banks ran wild, and that was a chain started by Thatcher by lifting all sorts of regulations against her rich banking friends. Yes, Thatcher inherited a poor economy, but she made it WORSE.
@TheGriff45 He never had it on a silver spoon, he was educated just like any normal, working class child, BUT because he was clearly a bright student he was fast tracked into experimental intense learning programs which he loathed. He didn't go to public schools like Clegg, and he certainly didn't go to Eton like Cameron.
@TheGriff45 And why has it been harder? I never said he had a hard life did I, open YOUR eyes and read the comment. I said he didn't have it all on a silver spoon like Cameron and his fellow public schoolboy Clegg. More industry hasn't shut down, and the industry that has wasn't because of Labour's policies, it was because of a global recession. Unemployment was much higher in the 80's and 90's.
My Dad couldn't get a job in Liverpool. So he had to move to London to find work. I remember when I was three years old and my Dad was rarely around. That all changed once Labour got in + spread government jobs around the country. Well, Brown didn't have it all on a silver spoon like Clegg/Cameron, he stands for a fairer society, and yes he has made a few mistakes, but nobody is perfect. His mistakes are a drop in the ocean compared to the Conservative governments of the 80s/90s.
There you go again, judging people based on comments 'unlike you I researched all the parties' how do you know what I've studied? Toffs ignorance never fails to astounds me. Industry based cities like Liverpool, Manchester + Sheffield suffered incredibly when Thatcher destroyed their local economies, and turned the UK into a primarily service based economy. By focussing the majority of these jobs down to The South she turned Northern cities into desolate wastelands.
@TheGriff45 Well, thanks for judging me based on a youtube comment. No I never done politics at A Level, but I've read quite a bit about it, and from my own personal experience, I realise that the North was absolutely fucked over by Thatcher. Granted Brown hasn't done well, but he means well and cares about the proper people. P.S. If you voted Tory don't call ME a moron.
I could keep borrowing money year in, year out and claim to have income growth. When it comes to paying it back thats when I get the nasty shock that I now have income decline in order to pay back what I owe.
Maybe Labour are simple thiefs and beleive they don't need to pay back the money they borrowed.
@bigdunk9 You're not my friend and YES, I have heard of her. She turned the worst economy in Europe into the best economy in Europe. She stopped the catastrophic strikes that the trade unions were organising and got our country working. It was an incredibly difficult time in which to govern. Gordon Brown on the other hand inherited a fantastic economy and threw it away. He has overspent massively and yet we still have a terrible education system and poverty now more extreme. He is a joke.
@jbarks10 I didn't mean it literally you typical ignorant toff. Got our country working? Got the SOUTH working. She absolutely cremated any sort of opportunity for anybody up North, not to mention the toffs changed the definition of unemployment a staggering 25 times to constantly try and spin figures. It's an incredibly difficult time to govern now - maybe even more so because of globalisation, again - another wonderful gift from Maggie + her friend Ronald.
@bigdunk9 You fucking uneducated chav cunt. No wonder retards like you are sensitive, you've got no fucking skills to offer any employer. By the way, Thatcher and Reagan didn't create globalisation, it is is a natural process given the technology and travel revolution that we had in the 90's. Globalisation came AFTER their reign you moron.
It was a gradual thing. It gathered pace over many years, it never just appeared over night when Tony Blair got in power. 'No wonder retards like you are sensitive, you've got no fucking skills to offer any employer.' What? Not only is that irrelevant it doesn't make sense you arrogant piece of shit. I've got ten GCSE's, four A Levels and I've just recently left Uni, I've got plenty to offer an employer, stop looking down your nose at people you don't even know you typical IGNORANT toff.
America had the Greenspan put. We had the Brown put. Everytime trouble loomed, he ordered the 'independent' Bank of England to slash interest rates to keep the boom going. The Austrian School economists warned about this for 15 years.
I physically despise Brown. He has not made any attempt to apologise for the mess he has put us in, and he is now making it purposefully worse so the Tories have a harder job when they are elected, thus making them unpopular. I hope people see through it.
He hasn't put us in a mess. There's a global recession. Blaming it on Brown just shows you don't understand why it happened. The Tories would have not only done the same as Brown, but would have even more likely to allow the mistakes that were made. This Tory party is not ready for the challenges it would face, seperate from party politics, just ona practical lvel they're not ready.

We had ten continuous years of economic growth with this Labour government, the longest run ON RECORD, before the EXTRAORDINARY situation of a recession that's affected every nation on Earth. Without this GLOBAL recession the debt wouldn't BE as high as it is.
The only growth has been in the financial services sector, which is hardly any true measure of anything but the size of a bubble. The same pattern is true in the US, exept for the fact that their military sector has grown. Extraordinary, perhaps, but an accident? Hardly.
Spankin mate ;) fuckin tosser all he cares about is himself there so lost in there own fucking world there so oblivious to all of us out here who do all the hard work whilst they sit spending our money and having pointless arguments and discussions pricks the lot of them
Brown has a problem here. It's fashionable to slam Bush. When Bush was in charge the US had quarter growths of 4 % GDP. Yet now the house of cards has caved in it's all his fault. How then when Britain had simliar - yet less impressive - growth can he take all the credit. He needs to learn that all that growth was despite him not because of him. IR30s legislation killed small business, the pension raids killed the best pension system in the world. Well played you scotch prick
