@drakath55 Forget about the graphics. It's on PC from 2001, build on an early version of the LithTech engine. Monolith is more known for solo gameplay than graphics.

Virtually all AvP games allow the Predators to enable invisible mode with exceptions to the Arcade Beat 'em Up/Hack 'n Slash made by Capcom.

@iSwayzak Not sure what that means, but an Alien can always see a Predator regardless. And Marines can always see a Predator if the developers grew half a brain. If they set the game in the future, technically, the Pred's cloak is useless against the Grunts....

I don't agree with you, since the marines don't have thermal devices like the predators they can't see him, their just humans and what would be the point of having a cloakink device if not for stealth tactics?The alien can sense pheromons and the androids, well I think in avp2 they have some kind of special sensors, but not like the ones in avp3, the synthetics in avp3 look more cooler and sound more real, especially when they get killed.

@Legyonaru90 What stealth? The only reason why the Predator should even use stealth in this game is because the developers toned down their stamina so much. The Mercenaries/Marines/Combat Synthetics have between 80-95% accuracy once they spot you....

Whether you agree or not doesn't matter. If the Marine's can't use thermal devices, then they should be smarter and try to block the Predator's vision from spotting and targeting them so easily.

You forgot to mention the developers toned down the Predator's vision modes also.

It's very annoying with that stupid "Fog" Effect, which can only be removed with certain Graphic Card tweaks or by using the Plasma Pistol secondary fire glitch.

Unless the company (Weyland Yutani Corp.) is being cheap purposely making cannon fodder out of the marines by giving them inadequate equipment.

I mean they should have been smart enough to use the Pred's own technology against them by now after so many encounters. Or at least modify the Marines armour to block out the infrared/heat signatures, etc.,... Therefore the fight would be even- Stealth available for everyone more or less.

Except that Weyland Yutani should have been aware of their existence by that time and the threat they pose to their agenda and xenomorph research projects. They should be aware that Predators "hunt by seeing our heat".

Thermal Insulation was attempted in Predator 2 so I don't see why they wouldn't at least consider try again to implement such. Instead we get only get EMPs for this game.

Only 5 encounters? It's more than that if you count every single AvP game and comic ever made.

You can say the same for the games and comics in general since the staff (producers, writers, directors, etc.,..) of each are different each time.

That's why almost every Alien and Pred game, comic, novel, book and movie is different and unique in their own way.

Some if not most are more biased in favor of one of them (usually Predator) and has many various contradictions.

This is a PC Game that was out in October 2001 (that's around 9 years ago), there was no hi def type of graphics compared to now, thus it would not be fair to call it crappy or shitty if you are comparing to current games made using current technology.

AvP 2 has a better storyline, superior level design, Xenomorphs, and there's no lag if your computer is suitably powerful enough. Plus, CJ features boss-fights against 1930's mob bosses and has hookers as enemies.

The developers of the first game as well as the engine used to create the game were different. You may want to consider that prior to making judgements. I'm only assuming you meant by just better in terms of graphics.

As a whole game, it depends on what you prefer more, I think the first AvP PC game had more to offer for Single Player games while AvP2's multiplayer had much more options to adjust. Graphics does NOT solely determine if a game is better.

No, it's Monolith's own LithTech engine. They're usually unoptimized, with the exception of the Jupiter EX revision which was used for FEAR 2: Project Origin.

You must be thinking of RTCW, which ran on the Q3TA engine.

@pokerockman When you cloak. They cant see you unless you stand very close to them so they'll see you.

Also if any of them marines have a smartgun on them they will detect you 100 percent sure. Oh yeah. Cloaking doesn't work on Aliens. They'll see you,even while you're cloaked. Because they'll see your aura thing around you. Also, one more thing. The robot things can see you(Dont know why....) If you want some more tips on cloaking respond this or PM me. Glad to help. :D
