  • 'Sugar pie, honey bunch', God bless the inspired lyricist Lamont Dozier for this unforgettable opening line. Levi Stubbs had one of the strongest and most distinctive voices in the Tamla Motown roster. Magical, just magical.

  • Wonderful upload, I've always loved this!

  • Why don't I get any sound with this video? Anyone out there?? Plus, how many of the Temptations are gone, and who's still living? I liked Eddie Kendrick the best.

  • @gotch09 This is the Four Tops. And from the original lineup, only Otis Williams is left. But the rest hav been replaced and they still putting out tunes.

  • @cmbsoldja when I said Temptations it was my mistake. I remember this song. I think I was 12 or 13 yrs old, or somewhere in there.

  • Diane Anderson, do you remember seeing the 4 Tops with me at the bowling alley in Rochester summer of 65? Sorry about dumping you in 66 but I had to go to school in CT. Did you really flush my ring? I still have the old Ford with your name on the headliner. Wish we went all the way. OK, I started late but I am still raising my babies now! Is my old buddy George Shepherd around and did he and Higby get married? Marty pikespeakscale@msn.com

Much Love to the FOUR TOPS. Thanks for paving the way for such great groups that were inspired by you all. FOUR TOPS TRUE LEGENDS in my book.

  • Temptations were true Legends. They Helped break the barrier for Motown. If it wasn't for SMOKEY and THE TEMPTATIONS, there wouldn't be no MOTOWN period. No JACKSON 5, SUPREMES ect. These guys started it all.

  • I love older music eventhough I'm 14, these kind of songs are timeless :0

  • Mowtown ? Doh! Fail.

    Motown !!

    :-)

  • @icloudnine.. Because music is in a constant evolutionary process, morphing from one style into another. The good news is that it's cyclic.. What goes around comes around. You might have noticed that there is a big resurgence in Mowtown/Northern Soul lately.

Bring it on I say. Happy, Dancing Ch00ns.

  • So let me pose the question....I have read so many posts on so many songs popular during the 60's -70's so why isnt anyone making this kind of music anymore...are you telling me there is no audience? I wonder if the music was contemporary with today what would prevail...hiphop or?????????????????????

  • i like this kind of music than the songs today (rap, miley cirous, etc.) idk y AND IM 12 XD

  • can I say as a white girl, I <3 Motown music! yeah, I'm weird but so what? :) I actually rather listen to stuff from the 1960s and 1970s than Gaga and the Disney crowd. I don't get it.

  • Classic!

  • back in the nam!

  • I first heard this song on the first season of American Idol. Been hooked on the song ever since. it's absolute gold! =D

  • Sunset Strip, 1965. Good times. Crazy days n nites. Gwtw

  • Awesome somg. When music was more than material and half naked women dancing. It had soul, it had love, it had mystery, it had life <3

  • @Adarkleopardess I ALWAYS SAY THE SAME THING TO MYSELF IVE NEVER HAD THE MATERIAL'z TO TRANSLATE IT THOUGH YOUR WORDS HOLD GREAT TRUTH , "BRING BACK MUSIC" <3 . .. ...

  • @Adarkleopardess Dont be hating on half naked women dancing,i mean why cant we have soul love mystery and sexy ladies.

  • @mottylad2 ummmm... because the two just don't go together.

  • @Adarkleopardess Half naked women aren't a bad thing, it's the choice of lyrics. Not sure you know this but outside the prudish West and Middle East, a woman's body isn't something to be ashamed of. Get your head out of your ass.

  • IM 27 & my boy is 2 the music will liv on for ever

  • what a stupid fucking video. It's called Youtube for a reason. post a video, post a slideshow, post something that moves. Only the sound? Then it's called radio!

  • I'm only a soph in high school but man I'd trade lady gaga, katy perry and justin bieber for a new motown sorta era. An age with singers that can sing and actually make great music. That's be something great.

  • Great song, singers, music, & times back then. Driving with the top down along the beach that summer with the love of my life. This song takes us there.. He is still and for as long as I breathe will always be the love of my life. :) Thanks for sharing this wonderful memory.

  • im the 912 comment..i had to get it out off 911 ...anyway I wish I lived in these times things seemed much simpler (:

  • I made my high school honey write the words of this song out for me. He scratched them out for me. Now, forty years later and after lots of children, grandkids and I'm back with my high school honey. And he's an oldies guru/expert. Great memories.

  • Love that old Motown sound. :)

  • Very classic, and beautiful. Just a masterpiece.

  • this music is the best

  • Hey everybody I was born and raised in a little town in Puerto Rico in the 50's and Motown was a giant even here too, ok. I too prefer classic Motown like you have no idea.

  • This song will never die thanks to Levi &his Tops!!Th e world was a better place with the wonderful Levi Stubs and his golden voice!

  • greatest song of all tme

  • damn. how do all these old songs know exactly how i feel?? what the fuck?? four tops are fucking mind readers man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOVERNMENT CONSPIRICYS MAN!! THERE WATCHING ME!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!! I LOVE CAKE!!!!! I LOVE MY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sheesh, hearing this brings a lump to my throat. I was sixteen and taken by a friend who was a little more wordly wise than me, to this new rave coffee bar that everyone was talking about. The Covered Wagon in Southport. I walked towards the small door, it slowly opened and the music that became louder was the Four Tops... Suger Pie Honey Bunch! I spent every moment in there listening to all the great music from the late sixties, but the music that I loved more than anything was Tamla Motown!

  • I got in a fight with my boyfriend and he howled this song on my voicemail for days until I called him back. Now every time I hear it I have to laugh XD good stuff

    GREAT song

  • Ken, here's another great one by the Four Tops. Hope you enjoy it. You're a sugar Pie!

  • You are so right. When I read your post I just had listen to Tyrone Davis "Turn Back the Hands of Time." "But if I had a chance to start all over, I would be wishing today on a four leaf clover. And leaving you would be the last thing on my mind...if I could turn back the hands of time." I like to let some of the young people listen to some of this music. They are always impressed...this stuff is timeless.

  • I can't stop listening to this. <3

"I can't help Myself" this music drives me wild from back in the day , great memories when everyone got along and partied no matter if they were white, black, gay, straight, young or old...What I would give to turn back the hands of time if only for one night, But we can't so we cherish the memories of this phenomenal music to reflect on the way it the world was back in the day.. Good times, good friends & GREAT music..

  • @2009Denisem

i so agree with you on your comment... although i wasnt born yet (i was born 1975) my mother always played the four tops and temptations and when this song came on it didnt matter who was around or what was going on it just made everyone happy and wanna get up and dance... wish music was the same now a days

  • @GFGUY06 My son was born in 1972 and I too always played this music till I wore the grooves out.. LOL...Those were the days a time of WONDER & JOY! HAPPY TIMES! Miss them... Peace my friend!

  • @2009Denisem A true classic this one, have played this many a time, think it maybe early seventies, one thing i am sure of though, is there will never be music like this again supposing we live to 150. Thank you for posting Darkanight and thank you for sharing this classic Denise.

  • ...sOul!

  • Tuneee <3

  • the machine, but having said that glorious music

  • Got dam bdsamlal did not have to go there with that comment so tired of hearing negative shit all day lonnng

  • I agree with you Numba they had a far superior sound

  • I perfer classic Motown over majority of the music out now. Guess because I was raised up on Motown music more than anything.

  • @Numba2Girlfriend

Nah, it's because the music that is being spewed out now sucks. I'm 20, so I'm in this generation, but I hate the music my peers listen to. Oldies is where it's at!

    d(^-^)b

  • Holy crap people, just listen to the music and quit arguing about irrelevant shit that has nothing to do with the video.

    Thanks.

  • I love this song so much.. and I'm only 16! I guess I was just brought up right..? :)

  • Great song! Pity about some of the comments, though.

  • nice all the peoples should know this!

  • I sing this song to my son all the time and he loves it. he's 15 months old

  • for me the black americans before or in the early era are more honorable than today, some of the black americans of today only know how to rap songs containing porn drugs etc! pity!

  • Would you like that era back-when you wickedly subjugated them? Did it make you feel good . . . Hey you still accused them of drugging and whoring (See the Platters) . . of course that so killed King took more drugs than any black man, yet you worsjip the Memphis idiot . . . all the same wisdom is proved righteous by its works-Matthew 11:19

  • Please bdsamlal get off of drugs. Your mindless blather is shameful. WHO subjugated them?? Americans freed them from certain death in Africa. Who the hell do you think sold them to the French and Belgium slavers to bring to America?? Learn your facts.

  • America freed them for what fate? So you free people to enslave and subjugate them? And you call me mindless? Do you really believe that all the slaves were captured first by people of their own colour? Is your history book, Alex Halley's trash?

  • *****Americans freed them from certain death in Africa*****

If you call death, disease, rape, mental anguish freedom. then I guess yeah america freed the slavees. You do realize that just as many africans who made that boat ride didn't make it to the americas, they were thrown over board as shark food.

  • I wonder if Aileen Carol Wuornos and her family, the Pittman's were somehow black . . . Like how Francis Crick has all these black genes although he claims they are not as smart as he is . . . that same Crick may have stole Rosalind Franklin's sophisticated X-ray crystallography photographs to confim his throy-go figure . . .

  • Listen people, i live thru this period. There's no blame, it was just the way the things was. starting from the Jews in the bible being oppressed by The king of Egypt to the holocast, to the enslavement of black people, to the slaughter of people in vietnam and Africa, to these senseless ass wars, do you truly believe it would have been different because of someones color?

  • Yes

  • Someone is always to blame. Actually God did blame the Egyptians and smote them with some mighty plagues . . . I suppose all the African-Americans can do now is to pray for some similar smoting on those who laugh and scorn and then mutter like mutts forlon, "no blame"

  • I am a 63 year old pollock from Detroit Mi,Served in nam. And I have to say you make me sick. I hope someone kicks your ass good.

  • Just comment on the songs ppl thats what its all about peace.

  • im doing this in a guys chorus sounds great in a group
