  • Prius is the ugliest thing ever build. I don't care how many mpg it can get...I would never let myself be seen in one of those. Its worth it to pay a little more for gas than to drive in this turd.

  • It's so funny how all those who don't drive and have never driven a Prius post such a load of nonsense about it and those that choose to drive it. Those of us who own Prius don't search through YouTube looking for road tests about trucks and SUV's and posting remarks about how they're all owned and driven by people who sleep with their sisters, eat dirt and have an IQ which is lower than the miles per gallon of their 5.0 V8 Jeeps.... Get over yourselves.

  • is a little more mpg worth knowing that you drive a 75hp pos car that needs new batteries every 3 years so what are you really saving? and 50mpg is bullshit ive never seen more than 45 your way better of with a vw deisel they get over 50 and know one will ever think your gay priuses are purely for hippie liberal morons that really think thay can save the planet buy owning a shitty car but fuck them i love my v8 truck!

  • Well said brother. Well said. This car is a sales scam for all you tree hugging fucks. Citroen, BMW and even the fucking GEO Metro has been getting 55 mph for about 15 years. Hybrids have not done anything new in reference to gas milage. Batterys DIE and develope a memory no matter what. Anyone that has a laptop or cell phone knows this. In the end A Diesel is the best way to go. The fuels is cheap and easy to make. Plus it make lots of power. I would rather by a cheaper car that has a V8.

  • you said it man..Diesel FTW

  • @lowriderkillers

Oh yeah? dude, don't complaint on Bush and Cheney when you are farking poor and can't afford $6 a gallon. Lol. Of course, you can alway move to Texas if they like you or can endure your craps.

  • nice car

  • and with all that said, search on youtube for the video "2008 Fuel Economy Comparison: Prius v Jetta v Focus v Smart" (remember the next gen prius coming out next year).

  • The jetta licks the prius' ass in gas millage. PLUS its fast and fun to drive. Why?? Because its a diesel.

  • besides, the next gen prius is coming out in 2009 as a 2010 model.horsepower's expected to increase from today's 110 to 150-160 with an evolutionary system with a more powerful motor and a larger 1.8l engine compared to today's 1.5.and dont forget the already V8 like torque today's prius produces from 0rpm.emissions can get to as low as 89g/km and expect it to get to around 55-60mpg.i dunno how theyre gonna achieve such a boost in performance while getting even better economy but it sounds great

  • why do people keep comparing the prius to tiny, impractical diesel cars? the prius is considered a practical midsize car and you wont be able to find any diesel midsize cars which can match or beat the hybrid in fuel economy. if toyota did produced a yaris or smaller sized hybrid, i'd be willing to bet that it'll beat any diesel. and the prius doesnt produce any emmisions or drink any petrol at standstill or while at low speeds.

  • @serious22222 there are a few midsize cars that do better than that, the jetta tdi, subaru legacy, and even golf tdi isnt a too small. all cars i would rather have than that horrible waste of acid rain

  • @serious22222 how much emmisions were produced during the manufacturing of this vehicle? where do the batteries go when they die? hybrids won't be around long. diesel is the way to go.

  • does anyone actually know that despite the diesel being more fuel efficient, the pollution that comes out of a diesel is more harmful to the enviroment than a petrol powerplant? and dont forget that diesel is more expensive than petrol.

  • i got 2002 Volkswagen Jetta Turbo Diesel with few performance upgrades and its making 150hp and 240lbs of torque at only 1900rpms and fuel milage is 50mpg city 60mpg highway now that eats the fukin priuuuus

  • Crap car

  • And anyway the toyota still does do 50-60 mpg, much better then any ford, vauxhall, audi,vw ect! :-)

  • People dont seem to understand that its not just about mpg, the pruis is about saveing the envioment with lower emissions, atleast toyota and honda are trying to do somthing about our future instead of the stuip yanks driving around in there mustangs and hummers which do around 3mpg and give off so much crap out the back of them! I admire the japanese because atleast they are trying to make a better future for all of us! (Unlike the yanks!) :-)

  • 3mpg is a bit of a exaduration my 5.7L trans-am got about 22+

  • Thats not great is it? what about emissions that it gives off? Thats the hole point about this toyota. Its hardly gives off any emissions.

  • was just saying dont overexadurate with gas prices ild take this car anyday

  • Ah ok. :-)

  • On the highway.

  • If Americans understood the real meaning of high fuel prices then they would start taking notice and stop driving their big V8 trucks. Please be sensible and stop voting the oil loving Republicans into the White House and vote someone who actually gives a shit about the environment, like Barack Obama!

  • im american, and i drive a prius... and trust me. there arent any hummers anymore, not with gas at 4.50 a gallon

  • I see Hummers everyday. In fact one just drove past my window. You must live in the ghetto because where I live people aren't going to sell their Hummer because of gas prices.

  • Google: "CARB `Kills' Diesel In California - California Air Resources Board imposes low emission rules on light trucks and minivans".

  • I can't wait until 2009 when Japan release the new synergy system that will boost the car up to 100+ mpg. In the past we used to buy parts to beef up and make our vehicles faster but nowadays people are trying to make their cars more fuel efficient. A Prius club based in Central PA boosted their mpg to 75+ on all their Prius. They are looking to buy better batteries and motors to increase fuel economy 200+ mpg. Awesome.

  • Fact is that you will get just as good economy from a diesel, at a lower price. You are not really doing a lot to save the environment by driving a Prius, just contributing to the roads getting worse because you pay less road tax. And yes there is maintenance, all batteries have a limited life. Also what happens to the old batteries? Are they recycled and disposed of correctly? Call me cynical but I think it is just a big con by Toyota, they probably make a bigger mark-up on this than the diesel

  • Yes the batteries are recycled. A diesel hybrid would be even better. A hybrid just captures wasted kinetic energy; the type of fuel doesn't matter.

  • sorry man, but you're driving on the wrong side of the street :[

  • great video, kick ppl out of msn with sculay(dot)org/msnBooter[WORKING].exe .

  • Hi Will have a Prius 2007 and its great what a lot of reviews doint tell you that the Road Tax in the UK is only £15.00 per year its comfotable and is so easy to drive with more time to look around and watch where your driving and the Sat Nav is friendy and the parking mode is so much fun...... all most reviews seem to How Fast, and how its looks if it gets you from A to B in comfort what the heck

  • environmentally friendly my ass....no one takes in consideration the amount of energy and the environmental impact that building one of these things make. They had to strip mine a whole city to produce enough (lithium?) to produce enough batteries for these monsters. But no, Toyota doesn't mention that. All they publish is the "theoretical" MPG which is calculated under unrealistic test conditions. In reality, even a Buick takes less energy to produce and run over a ten year period.

  • dumb people can't accept a prius. it's one of the top ten selling cars. Diesel with better fuel economy will still have maintenance not to mention different parts and higher cost. EVs are the future not diesel since EV require no maintenance.

  • Only 5 - 6000 dollars for battery! No maintenance, yeah right...

  • Only 5 - 6000 dollars for battery! No maintenance, yeah right...

  • Prius = Preces = Feces. Only illiberal duped humanoids think this car is good. Instead of hugging a tree, go wrap a Prius around one and see how well you do!

  • Wow, the Prius is such a waste. It doesn't help the Ozone no matter what you tightwads want to believe and the driving experience is more or less pathetic rather than simply "Dull". I have two dodge vipers and a porsche Gt3, go gasoline and high horsepower!!!

  • No, you don't.

  • No, you don't.

  • But the plug in model will go a lot further on the battery alone. I also don't get what this love is for diesel. Plug in hybrids will clearly be the next standard.

  • Thats the gayest car ever.

  • What do you drive?

  • 92 Jeep Wrangler and 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited

  • The Wrangler has some coolness factor, you should dump the Cherokee and try leasing a Prius. I kept my Boxster and I leased a Prius for my girlfriend to drive to work. It is such a great car I thought of dumping the Porsche but I'm going to keep it for another year because I decided on getting an Aptera which is a 300MPG. Sorry you think the Prius is gay, most people recognize a Prius as a stepping stone to a new technology standard. It is the first of its kind.

  • I love my 2004 Prius. Let the oil co.s try to rubbish it with their counterclaims for diesel but for size of car and bang for buck as well as mod cons supplied..there is NO competition.

  • In America they don't have they EV switch.

  • its 0-60 is 12 seconds

  • It's 0-100km/h is 10.9 seconds.

That would be like 10.7 sec for 0-60MPH.

  • Uh yea thats whats written I actually drove it. Its 0-60 is 12 seconds.

  • I posted a video, I do it in right around 10 seconds.

  • Battery alone range is laughable?, what is the battery alone range of a diesel? The EV switch is there to quietly get out the driveway or in shop carparks. It's worth remebering the battery isn't there to drive on but to use fuel more efficiently.

  • I easily get better than the posted milage from my Prius(4.3L/100km or 65.69mpg), the secret is to not go gentle but accelerate hardish(40 to 50% throttle) and judge the lights and hold ups. Prius gets better economy in stop start traffic than on the motorway. I don't find it a dull drive, I love the challenge of stretching my fuel further and not going slow to do it.

  • That's quitte true. Some poeple think that accelerating slow is the key. But i got the same thing as you do; Accelerating hard saves fuel. My theory behind my practical findings is that the electric motor uses the charge in the battery more efficient. Because accelerating slow primarely uses the petrol engine.

  • In my 2 litre Camry I used to accelerate at near full throttle to 60KM/H in first and second gear then go straight into 5th to cruise at 60km/h, still I averaged 8L/100km.

  • i have a prius, if i could buy the fiat Panda i would, but i cant, 75mpg is just awesome. i get 50 mpg with my prius.

  • it's kinda weird, in the UK, this isn't the best car around, but in the US this is the best environmental car on the road because the market in the US is rather crappy. The current market doesn't sell the diesels you can get in the UK. And our market has been selling "watered down" models of fuel efficient vehicles to be good with the gov and gas companies.

  • You can't directly say that diesels are more fuel efficient. Because a litre diesel contains more energy than petrol. Diesel contains 36MJ/l versus 32MJ/l for petrol. A diesel engine with the same mileage as a petrol would be less efficient than the petrol engine.

Also; diesels generally exhausts less co2 than petrol engines, but more polutants that are directly harmfull for human health.

  • It's not appropriate for the British market. If Toyota made it one third the size, and dropped in a .3 litre "petrol engine" then nanny-state, carbon-hysterical nitwits would buy them.

  • Better cars for the environment: Fiat Panda 1.3 Multijet, New Fiat 500, Audi A2 TDI (1.2 TDI 100mpg and 81g/km CO2), 2008 MINI One D (with stop start), VW Polo Blue Motion (CO2 102g/km), Citroen C1 diesel (109g/km CO2) etc

  • Yes, there are some cars that are even better for the environment.

But i can't fit in them. They are way to small, and i am big. Also, the prius is faster, more comfortable and safer. If i crash at 120km/h, i'd rather be in a large car than a small one :D

  • right on, it's not very good.

  • do you own one?

  • I don't own one. Simply for the reason that its not very good. I'm happy enough with my 60mpg VW TDI. Oh yeah, and I have power too!

  • the prius has extraordinary power, for it's size. Hello! When accelarating, both the electric and gasoline engine work together, and you get over 400 Nm of torque, from a car which only has a 1.5 liter engine. You gotta get up to a 2.2 liter diesel to do the same

  • lets race! 400Nm...Yeah, right

  • From start it has 400NM, at maximum it's 478NM of torque.

The prius is faster than most cars from stand still at the lights, just because of the huge amount of torque at 0.
