Hey man. I have an 83 Golf GTI (euro) with a 16v 2.0 corrado engine in it. I like your rabbit.
Anyway, I had the exact same problem with my bootlid. If you take off the tailgate lock and spray the fuck out of it with penetrating fluid eg wd40, it should fix the problem :)
just bought an 80 rabbit. paid 2,000 bucks with 18,000 original miles on it. entire fuel system has been replaced ( fuel pump, all lines ,gas tank, fuel pump, filters, injectors, etc; the guy needed $ to pay property taxes. and it came with original bill of sale. sweet as hell. only thing i'm going to do to it is put some bbs's and some bump in it. HOW GOOD IS DAT. DAMMMNNN!!!!!!!
Literally just purchased a '77 4-door today 1/16/10 for $100 bucks. It isn't running and I'm hoping for a simple fuel pump and general tune-up to get it to. If anyone would care to offer any advice I'd appreciate it...thanks.
I may be selling this car in the near future...I also have a 78 Rabbit...Dakota Beige, automatic with 33k fully documented original miles (MINT) that may be for sale as well....
hmm...well, I would want at least 4500 for this one as is....with the wheels...this car has approx 140k orig miles with a stack or receipts from day one...i just posted a link to my other rabbit....check it out!
Did you re build it or did you get it like that? I am looking into buying one that is in pretty bad shape and I am trying to figure out how much its gonna cost me.
hey.....i purchased the car from the original owner close to 2 years ago....it was always garaged and well maintained.....to be honest all i did at the time i shot the video was change the suspension and tires/wheels....it's a '77 so it has lots of spunk....i wish you well with your car...feel free to tell me more about yours!
i want a quad round grille on my 83 rab gti the dual square is ugly. have been scouring the junkyard for a clipper kit and front end off of a cabriolet but no such luck
i got one 82 with 325 hp...! 33000 $ investment..! to sold...! im gonna loose my driver licence..!

What memories! I had a 77 that was bright orange. It was the middle of the three levels and was fuel injected.
As I remember it ate belts because the a/c wheel was not inline with anything else.
Loved that car. I was just about the only thing on the road back then with front wheel drive... in the 17 inch snow.
fond memories.
