I just rode this ride with some special passes from cast members and let me tell you its fun! I enjo`yed it but for some reason i felt it short. There are lots of detail you may notice from the previous ride to this one. Try to find out which ones!
The planet i went to was kashyyk and courouscant. I personally didn't like those two. In kashyyk all you went through is in a speeder bike chase and in courouscant just in a traffic pursuit like in episode 2. I heard other planets were fun!!!

@disneylandbiggestfan Disney World will probably plan a soft release of the ride in the weeks prior to its official opening. Make sure to show up early for a sure chance to experience the attraction. I wish you luck & I'll be at Disney World this June :)

Hey supposedly the date is set to debut at Disneyland on May 10th and WDW on May 17th! NOT official yet, but thats the date out there! Eitherway its coming soon! Cant wait!
@AttractionsMagazine it opens on june 3rd but on may 20th is was just a special preview, but later the 20th and also some of the 21st they have "soft opened" it. Soft Opening means they open it a few hours a day to test on the public, the have it closed today but it was opened yesterday.

Part of it though is DCA is still struggling so they want to give people as much info as possible. EVERYONE will show up for Star Tours at Disneyland regardless. The guy i spoke to said he couldn't say much, but he did say that if you were to go on this ride 25 times in a day you would get 25 different experiences, i asked which era it will cover & he said it will cover both trilogys, books & somthing else, he only smirked when i asked other questions, but it sounds like there will be multiple ride/screen types

We been looking at that same film for over 20 years now and the lack of a queue for the last decade shows how dull people got with it. I have a faith the new stuff will be good! Multiple destinations, 3D, new in-cabin effects, I cant tell you HOW excited I am about this :).

@fctiger74 I agree , My girl friend who is from washington state has never been to Disneyland. I am from southern california. So I took her their thinking she would love it . As I had very magical memories at Disneyland. I brought her in and the first thing she said is that it looked old. I was devastated. I will add though, Walt should be turning over in his grave when they built california adventure . It's a freaking carnival !
@Bladerunner55217 Funny you mentioned that because I had a freind who visited me from Britian back in 2009. It was his first time at a Disney theme park as well and a hardcore Star Wars fan. He didnt even know the ride existed, but was so excited to ride it. We did it (a total of a 10 minute wait ;)) and after we got off I asked him what he thought? He said it he liked it, but it felt outdated. In fact he didnt want to do it again. He DID want to do Indy over and over again though. ;)
@fctiger74 I agree but the old can be good too. Disney knows what they are doing, but maybe it'd be nice to keep the old version too, like they could just give people the option to watch which one they'd like to see. The old one was actually one of my favorites, but I'm glad they redid the entire thing, it looks fantastic!

I'm afraid the new one is going to be ruined by crap from the prequels. I mean, we saw pod racing - that's a good indication that it may be. The original had that classic 80s nostalgic feel that Star Wars of today no longer has.
We'll see how it turns out. Hopefully Disney doesn't screw up the queue section like they did with Space Mountain. I was just at Disneyland 3 weeks ago, but because of lower back pains I couldn't go on Star Tours. I'm gonna try & get out there again before the 7/27 closure.
Yeah, I didnt like how they changed the lines for some of the rides at disneyland. I work there and cutting the line in 2 separate halfs is just stupid. They did the same thing for Indiana Jones. I hope Thunder Mountain doesn't get that change.
From what I have read about star tours 2, there will be many star wars locations than this. So you will hardley get to experiance the same ride twice. Also what I read up is that there will be surround sound and it will be in HD along ith the 3D and 2 other droids in the ship.
It's going to be a blasted 3D show?! How is this going to be any different then Muppetvission? Other than the obvious lack of imagination of course. In Muppetvission you're sitting in a theater watching a performance by the Muppets. In this new monstrosity you're flying behind a rely lame pod-race then apparently competing in it? How did you get in that position? When on the real Star Tours you start in a spaceport and then get on a spaceship.
@trooperman dude at one point when I was taking a look at this I was thinking the same idea have the Cantina be lunch and diner, Dex's diner be like a breakfast place and the night club from episode 2 can be a night club.

However, I am stoked about the pod racing. To be in the middle of that is going to be totally wicked! Ever since I first saw Episode I when I was little, I always wished I could be in a pod race and now I am for real. Whooo!! I also presume that they're refurbishing the ride cuz the current one is kind of worn out and glitchy. But I'm definately going to miss the video before you sit down with those little teddy bear guys and the flight attendants, it had all that 80s goodness to it!
I hate that Disneyland keeps redoing everything. Stick with tradition! I also hate how they're going to do the new one in 3D. Why does everything these days have to be in 3D?!?! It would probably be just as good in 2D. With all these 3D movies out, I'm already used to the 3D expirience, so 3D is not going to add anymore for my Star Tours expirience. I am also pissed that they are including the prequel franchise into the new ride because they weren't that great.
They should have either gotten James Earl Jones to do the voice, OR a great replacement is the guy who does Chad Vader (his name slips my mind at the moment)
Will it just be the pod racing scene? If so, that's lame. I'd want to see the Snowspeeder battle on hoth and the speederbike chase on endor. THAT would be an improvement.

There will be multiple destinations, including Tatooine and Coruscant, and there will be random variations during each trip.
Also, the ride will be set in-between episodes 3 and 4.

@Bladerunner55217 Funny you mentioned that because I had a freind who visited me from Britian back in 2009. It was his first time at a Disney theme park as well and a hardcore Star Wars fan. He didnt even know the ride existed, but was so excited to ride it. We did it (a total of a 10 minute wait ;)) and after we got off I asked him what he thought? He said it he liked it, but it felt outdated. In fact he didnt want to do it again. He DID want to do Indy over and over again though. ;)

@fctiger74 I agree but the old can be good too. Disney knows what they are doing, but maybe it'd be nice to keep the old version too, like they could just give people the option to watch which one they'd like to see. The old one was actually one of my favorites, but I'm glad they redid the entire thing, it looks fantastic!

I'm afraid the new one is going to be ruined by crap from the prequels. I mean, we saw pod racing - that's a good indication that it may be. The original had that classic 80s nostalgic feel that Star Wars of today no longer has.

-For the Queue, you get to meet Jar-Jar,Young Obi-Wan Kenobi(Monitor),Qui-Gohn-Jin(Monitor) and Young Anakin(monitor).
-For the Boarding Concorse(Riding Point) they will use a new safety video.
-During the queue, they will use the Cantina Band Music.

We'll see how it turns out. Hopefully Disney doesn't screw up the queue section like they did with Space Mountain. I was just at Disneyland 3 weeks ago, but because of lower back pains I couldn't go on Star Tours. I'm gonna try & get out there again before the 7/27 closure.

Yeah, I didnt like how they changed the lines for some of the rides at disneyland. I work there and cutting the line in 2 separate halfs is just stupid. They did the same thing for Indiana Jones. I hope Thunder Mountain doesn't get that change.

From what I have read about star tours 2, there will be many star wars locations than this. So you will hardley get to experiance the same ride twice. Also what I read up is that there will be surround sound and it will be in HD along ith the 3D and 2 other droids in the ship.

It's going to be a blasted 3D show?! How is this going to be any different then Muppetvission? Other than the obvious lack of imagination of course. In Muppetvission you're sitting in a theater watching a performance by the Muppets. In this new monstrosity you're flying behind a rely lame pod-race then apparently competing in it? How did you get in that position? When on the real Star Tours you start in a spaceport and then get on a spaceship.

Don't worry, the Star Tours travel agency will still exist. People will still be riding in Star Speeders.
There will be multiple destinations. Its not just about pod racing.
The most recent info is that new destinations will include Tatooine and Coruscant.
And the new ride will be set in-between the two Star Wars trilogies.

However, I am stoked about the pod racing. To be in the middle of that is going to be totally wicked! Ever since I first saw Episode I when I was little, I always wished I could be in a pod race and now I am for real. Whooo!! I also presume that they're refurbishing the ride cuz the current one is kind of worn out and glitchy. But I'm definately going to miss the video before you sit down with those little teddy bear guys and the flight attendants, it had all that 80s goodness to it!

I hate that Disneyland keeps redoing everything. Stick with tradition! I also hate how they're going to do the new one in 3D. Why does everything these days have to be in 3D?!?! It would probably be just as good in 2D. With all these 3D movies out, I'm already used to the 3D expirience, so 3D is not going to add anymore for my Star Tours expirience. I am also pissed that they are including the prequel franchise into the new ride because they weren't that great.
