We all need to be our own advocates and insist, keep calling, and scream if we have to...if we suspect a tumor of other disease. My Dad had a brain tumor and they blew him off for three years...finally the eye doctor insisted on an MRI!!!! He had a brain tumor. My Dad is okay today! He had surgery in St. Paul Minnesota by a brilliant surgeon that saved his life! If anyone wants to know who this man is just ask....he's brilliant! :-) My Dad also had stereotactic radiosurgery. Amazing!
Yup, same thing happened to us with our 13-yr-old. The first hospital said she was just "dehydrated" from vomiting. Nonsense; you don't get paralysis and double-vision from simple dehydration. We turned around and took her to another hospital the next day where they had the good sense to give her a CT scan. Her pediatrician was furious with the first hospital and actually called them and chewed them out!
I've just been diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma after years of trying to convince someone to take me seriously.Doctors are shit here in Canada also.I just hope my surgeon is good.
Jackasses. My mom also had a brain tumor and was sent home. The doctors said she probabally had a heart condition! Eventually she found great doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, USA. I'm so glad to hear you listened to your heart telling you something was wrong with your child. Glad to hear she has recovered. Your family's good health is in my prayers.
