anyone see west side story? the song "maria" helps me with the tri-tones. "MA-RI-A i just met a girl named maria!" the MA-RI is a tri-tone...for those fans of the movie. just saying lol
I taught myself to sight read from my own method that's very similar to this, but my teacher looked @ me like i was crazy when i told her bout this method...
I tried to concentrate but I was moved to tears by your rendition of the Canadian national anthem and couldn't go any further. Well I was in tears at any rate... :-)
Excellent - thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Thank you for the list in the information section below. I need to work on my relative pitch and needed a list of songs to identify the relative pitches and I got all I needed in one place!
Well, this makes it easy enough to know how intervals sound when the two notes are played separately, but I still have trouble distinguishing them when played harmonically, which is what I have to do to pass my music theory class... Thanks for the video though, it was pretty helpful. :)
Hey Andrew, this lesson is very good!! I was wondering if there are such things as CD collections playing just intervals like you did to master the perfect pitch. Im really looking for it rite now.
Thanks for this very good lesson! I'm tring to learn to reconize the intervals when both notes are played at the same time. It's going pretty good but I have huge problems with recognizing perfect 4th and perfect 5th when they're played together. Do you have any tips on that?
Thanks Andrew, lesson 16# and 24 more to go :P, sucks school is starting in 5 days, but i'll make time to finish the lessons even after school starts ;P
@paravelove Also, tritone is one of the most common intervals in Metal music. Take, for instance, the song Sympton of the Universe, from Black Sabbath, or As I Am, from Dream Theater, or the classic Black Sabbath's Black Sabbath.
OMG! Okay I have a thing called firing squad tmmrw and I have to know how to sing my intervals and this really helped, I was about to give up but I found this video and helped soo much. :) THNKS Hope to see more vids
major 5th also reminded me of Charlie Brown theme when i heard it and i was right it was. I guess you might be surprised what you might find up in the ol' attic. ;)
Does anyone have or are they developing "perfect pitch?" I have been developing mine and was wondering if anyone was using and specific methods that work for them.
Wow, thanks for this. I have this little tune, or should I say part of a song, that I really like, but I could never find sheet music for it anywhere. I'm gonna practice this until I can learn how to play it!
lol what about all theh perfect intervals lol theres still: PU- the same note 2 times P4-The wedding march P5-Star Wars P8-Somewhere over the rainbow and... M2-Happy Birthday M3-O When The Saints M6-My Bonnie lies under the ocean M7-Do Ré Mi Fa So La Ti Do
that was a good lesson but can this really teach you the perfect pitch. i've heard that this trains the relative pitch and the perfect pitch is something that very few blessed (or cursed) people can have
Minor 2nd- Jaws Major 2nd- Happy Birthday Minor 3rd- O Holy Night Major 3rd- Oh When the Saints Perfect 4th- Wedding March Tri-tone- Maria (from West Side Story) or The Jetsons Theme Song Perfect 5th- Star Wars Minor 6th- Love Story or Close every Door to Me (from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) Major 6th- My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean Minor 7th- Star Trek Major 7th- Psycho Theme Perfect Octave- Some where over the Rainbow Hope this will help with labeling intervals to a song!!:)
Thank you very much! I am in theory and no one has been able to explain this so that I am able to hear them. The only thing that may be a bit better would be if you played them together in harmonizing them.
Also I have always wondered what the actual words to O Canada were, so thank you so much for singing it :D
Andrew, you're doing a wonderful job! Your lessons are VERY helpful. Intervals are tough, but you explained it well. Thank you! Keep up the wonderful work!
