  • i remember the old white gates too!im all for modern things but its nice to keep and try to preserve the old

  • This was before the object detectors were installed.

  • In the 70's we would race in our MG midget and Escort Mark1 to Royal Oak crossing after this one to try and beat the train! Happy Days! I remember the Signal Box and crossing gates too. They were brilliant. There were some lovely boxes and crossings all the way to Bridlington and beyond - sadly all gone now.

  • @waldenhouse I know, they made a tunnel in my home town where some level crossing used to be now.

  • @cindy1000000 This level crossing was installed in 2000

  • @cindy1000000 They used to have gates on filey level crossing but changed them to barriers sometime in summer 2000 I think

  • @waldenhouse Not all have gone - Gristhorpe is a lovely little gate box!

  • What happened to the beautifull wooden gates ? I used to live in Filey as a kid (83). On my way up to the Senior school we used to coss here. There used to be these great big white wooden swing gates operated by chains and pullys running under the road pavement, and a couple of wooden pedestrian swing gates which used to lock closed with a clever tension spring. Those used to be on the right side of this vid. There used to be a control tower full of big leavers, thats missing too.

  • @trespire They replace loads of wooden gates, there are still some crossings like that still. The level crossing in my town has completly gone though and their is a tunnel there now :P

  • i go to juniors in filey, the train is neva tht slow!

  • that would suk to have to sit there in a car and wait for the train to come by at 5 mph

  • A level crossing that used to be in my town,Tipton you would would have to wait about 30 and even 40 minutes sometimes for the trains to come but they have gone and are building a tunnel for the traffic for that reason.

  • So that's why they are building a tunnel, when(if i ever get permission) i rebuild that crossing in tipton i will make it so that cars have to wait a maximum of 1 minuite for the train to pass(but first i will get a truck)

  • Cool lol,the tunnel is open now.

  • That's it?

  • What is what?

  • Terrible, boring video.

Beginning was good - showing the signals operating, then gate lowering.

But from :12 on, I was wanting to see down the track, not mindlessly "stare" at the building across the way.

Finally, you look down the track a little.

But then you do not show the train approaching.

If you cannot afford a tripod (I bought a nice one at a thrift store), brace your camcorder on something.

Most of this video is waste.

  • How's about SHUT THE FUCK UP!

  • he's right.

    your video is crap

rather than tell him to shut up, learn from his good advice

looks like it was made by a little girl

  • FUCK OFF !!!

  • it's a level crossing more what do you want in life?

  • okay...

  • I thought someone was gunna get run over or a car get hit or stuck atleast a huge spark from the train.

  • Why?

  • Thats ridiculus - they didn't need to waste time!

  • You sad inbred filey twats why not just get a job

  • I'm not from Filey so get a life and fuck off.

  • I did a video once of a skip rusting....marvellous!

  • okay....

  • really, how fantastic, now off you go to kfc and order a failure pile in a sad bowl

    whakadyschmackadydoo!

  • What a bunch odf saddos putting this crap on You Tube!!!!!!!!!!

  • it's crap in your opinion and may I ask why you watch the video if you think it's

    crap?!?

  • @Leazesenders A think its bloody marvelous t'see train go by.

  • @trespire I have just bought a can of Flying Scotsman steam which was collected when it passed Newcastle Upon Tyne.

  • During my weekend break at Filey which I went on a year ago tommorrow,I went past two level crossings there. This one and another one.

  • Is this crossing anywhere near Primrose Valley?

  • Not sure.I don't live here.

  • theres 3 crossings near there, this one, hunmanby one and the filey/lebberston one.i drove over all 3 last weekend!

  • It's not near Droitwich or Worcester!

  • @weegerri1sm I used to live in Filey. This crossing is in town in a central location, note the train station. Primrose Valley is village about a mile and a half to two miles further south along the sea clifs.

  • Don't you just hate watching a film when you know the ending!

  • go away

  • WTF why put this up.

  • For train fans.

  • OK no offense. just couldnt see the point as i hate level crossings takes ages like this one

  • No gay comments on video.Thank you!

  • i do fileysutty, and alot of other people so piss off

  • Thank you LMSStanier for sending this video.

Thank you cindy1M for making this video.

Americans would not tolerate waiting two minutes + before the train arrived at the level crossing.

We want 25 seconds from crossing signal activation until train arrives at grade crossing.

This lessens traffic backup and saves wasting gasoline and generating pollution.

(Usually I turn off my vehicle engine unless a passenger train.)

I like the white "fence" which hangs from the gate.

  • At a level crossing where I live you sometimes

have to wait for the train to come and it takes 30 or 40 minutes for it to come.Sometimes you have to wait for 5 to come

past before the crossing comes back up again.

  • Paignton level crossing is anoying. last year i went on holiday to paignton and we were stood there while one train went out and crossed ot the other line then came back then another train went out and then the first one went back out we must have been stood there for about 10 minutes it was fun tho :D

  • If you think Paignton level crossing is annoying then you should see the one where live in Tipton.Sometimes when the barriers have gone down it takes like 30 or 40 minutes

for them to go back up again. Now that's annoying.

  • @adzk95 Musical trains ?

  • Man, I get such a buzz standing next to level crossings when trains are passing. Theres a crossing near morecambe in the UK which is on the main line between england and edinburgh, so understandably you get some horrifically fast trains passing :-)

  • That's if there isn't a station or the train does not stop at the station

  • dad was stuck by two level crossings in a row lol (that means when he was about to cross it went off again)

  • Wow.

  • Filey is the best place in the world, must have been there 100+ times in my life :)

  • Good for you.

  • We had to wait at two level crossings 5 days ago,One was in lymington and one was in brockenhurst

  • Are they in the West Midlands.

  • nowhere near the midlands lol lymington is on the south cost and brockenhurst is about 6 miles from lymington

  • Splendid Video ,,,

  • Thank You

  • I been there.

  • Ahhh the train to Scarborough.. Had to wait for that bugger to pass many times! Lol

  • If you was watching it properly then you would

see that I didn't start right from when the

    lights first started to show.

  • could u of not thought of anything better to do than make this video

  • Just because you don't find trains interesting

    doen't mean other people don't.

  • why does it go down so early

  • because the trains prolly going slow. Unlike America where the barriers go down just before the train goes over in the UK its when the train goes over a certain section of track so if its going really slow then it can take a while.

  • Yeah,espellsely where I live.

  • I beleve you live in tipton

  • yeah

  • The barriers at the level crossing in Filey sometimes come down for no reason - they're pretty dodgy.

  • it's happened in paignton too.

  • comment was one of sarcasm!

  • the tension waiting for the train to come was unbearable!

  • WOT THE HELL

  • What do you mean "Wot the hell"

  • ooooo a class 158

  • Thank you...

  • cool

  • They changed from gates to barriers.Like in Tipton they used to have gates and now they are signals and barriers.

  • Last time I went over that crossing it still had gates on it!

  • Thanks

  • Cool! I love watching your videos
