The sign at 1:00 honors Brett Malin, who in 2003 was hit from behind by an 18 wheeler around midnight. This happened somewhere in New Mexico I think. He was leading the race at the time. Brett was an awesome cyclist, and is will be missed always. He was only 30 at the time. God bless you Brett, you will live forever in our hearts... RIDE ON MY BROTHER
