BIG fucking difference in a octagon and a ring u Moron. The size, using the cage to get up on feet or push your opponent, n depending on the style of a fighter it helps. Cage VS Ring argument is valid to some extent. Couture said it's very different, obviously Chuck doesn't agree with him but that's his opinion.

I think the main difference is "the knees to downed opponent" rule. That changes everything for wrestlers like Matt Hughes/Sean Sherk. In the UFC, wrestlers do not get "penalized" for failing takedown after takedown, 'cause they don't have to worry about getting kneed in the face.(which can potentially turn into a KO)

Its funny how the pride-ufc war is still going on, I don't think it will ever end. Both organizations had/have great fighters. The transition to the ring-cage does play a part, but in the case of cro cop,Ithink it has to do with the fact he doesn't have the desire to fight anymore.

Ring IS different than cage, especially the Pride ring, because it's in Japan and there are different rules and different athletic comission. There's knees to the head (except on all fours), stomps and kicks to the head. And I don't agree with him saying that the Pride guys are losing the "UFC" guys, that's bullshit. Chuck lost in the first round to Quinton. He's from Pride, what does that say? Just because they're UFC guys or Pride guys doesn't change the probability of a winner or loser.

The cage/ring argument is a weak one to say the least. The rules argument is also a weak one, especially given that these guys have been fighting in various organizations throughout their careers and thus are used to adjusting to slight variations in rules. The only argument that I buy is "home field" advantage. When the crowd is behind you in Japan and not in the USA, there could be issues. However, even up and coming fighters from America experience tough crowds but great fighters rise above.

I somewhat disagree with that. Surroundings influence a fighter whether they are aware of it or not. Some of the ufc guys who fought in pride had alot of problems in their first fights because they did not have the cage to use for advantage. The same thing is happening to some of the pride fighters. Like you said, there are those will rise above it, and those who won't. But you cannot deny it plays a factor, it just wasn't the factor for crocop for it had more to do with lack of motivation.

A number of UFC fighters however, including Forrest and Sylvia and commentators like Bas Rutten had mentioned the transition from ring to cage as a FACTOR in a handful of fighter's poor performance. There's nothing comical about it-- but I'm sure you know more than they do. :)

So far only CC said something about the cage. And it is a huge difference combined with the different rules. Some adjust easy, some need time and some never adjust. That's top sport where the level is close. Besides that Pride fighters are not doing any wore than UFC fighters. Chuck who was invincible lost twice, Tim lost to a retired Couture who has been KO-ed by a mw before that match, GSP lost to the underdog, Sherk caught, etc. So far one Pride champ lost (Hendo) vs a former Pride fighter.
