I have a solution to the problems facing guyana, this is what i propose,guyanese african males should mate with the indian female guyanese and the indian males should mate with the african females to pregnate them, as such the offsprings of this union will be half indian and half black, ending the racial devide, athough there are evidence of this happening, but not of significant numbers, this should be a wide spread involvement of the intire inhabitants of both races.

I understand that this documentary is trying to show the outside world, some of the problems Guyana faces. However, this makes Guyana look like the segregation of the 1950's US. It makes the country look like there is no love. Truth is, Guyanese generally live like family. Almost 1/5 of Guyana is of mixed heritage. Indians listen to reggae and blacks listen to chutney. Itr's still very hard or impossible for an average person to get a gun permit there. The punishment for having ammo with no gun license is the same as having an illegal gun. I just thought it would be useful to point out as a response to your comment that over here (the UK) they're more Pakistanis and Bangladeshis (who are of Indian heritage) on benefits than Blacks by a significant margin. Many of them are provided with the opportunity to work, but prefer to remain on benefits, even now when we're currently in a recession.

I can not take it any more with your ignorance. I'm a Engineer with a degree in Computer Science and yes Guyanese and Black. Look up the Utah School of Medicine and you would see two of the best Doctors( from Guyana and Jamaica)in the whole world. Both are Black. Check out some of the inventions by Blacks. In Silicon Valley they are many Black Engineers. Check out the Head of Xerox and start posting some positive things about Guyana and it people. I don't know in what country in now reside.

Only some of the old people still speak some of the dialects from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, unlike the Indo-Surinamese, who still speak something coming near to Hindi. Trinidad has much of the same racial problems too. I know that there is latent racism here although I dont notice much of it in my everyday life.

A lot of the people who left Guyana in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, don't bother to give anything back to their country. It seems hopeless. Even if they do so, these people won't put the money to good use. This report was bias. Please tell me what country does not struggle with racial issues? Guyana has issues but to characterize an entire country as suffering from total racial division is unjust reporting. I have a solution to the problems facing guyana, this is what i propose,guyanese african males should mate with the indian female guyanese and the indian males should mate with the african females to pregnate them, as such the offsprings of this union will be half indian and half black, ending the racial devide, athough there are evidence of this happening, but not of significant numbers, this should be a wide spread involvement of the intire inhabitants of both races.

I understand that this documentary is trying to show the outside world, some of the problems Guyana faces. However, this makes Guyana look like the segregation of the 1950's US. It makes the country look like there is no love. Truth is, Guyanese generally live like family. Almost 1/5 of Guyana is of mixed heritage. Indians listen to reggae and blacks listen to chutney. Guyana is a blessed land. Guyanese need to realize this. We have been duped by the colonizer.

Itr's still very hard or impossible for an average person to get a gun permit there. The punishment for having ammo with no gun license is the same as having an illegal gun. At night families bolt up all the windows and doors like a fortress. The Bandits from Buxton even block the roads and raid banks for money,they are hunted down eventually but everybody has fear there from armed gangs. Are you Guyanese? I haven't got anything against Indians and to an extent I understand and can't argue with what you're saying. I just thought it would be useful to point out as a response to your comment that over here (the UK) they're more Pakistanis and Bangladeshis (who are of Indian heritage) on benefits than Blacks by a significant margin. Many of them are provided with the opportunity to work, but prefer to remain on benefits, even now when we're currently in a recession.

Same here, Indians are all right. People always tell me Indians are racist towards Blacks, but from personal experience they've been some of the easiest people to get on with. One thing I've noticed is that Bangladeshis and pakistanis are very different from Indians, even though they're of the same racial group. BTW are you Guyanese?

Look up the Utah School of Medicine and you would see two of the best Doctors( from Guyana and Jamaica)in the whole world. Both are Black. Check out some of the inventions by Blacks. In Silicon Valley they are many Black Engineers. Check out the Head of Xerox and start posting some positive things about Guyana and it people. I don't know in what country in now reside.

Only some of the old people still speak some of the dialects from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, unlike the Indo-Surinamese, who still speak something coming near to Hindi. Trinidad has much of the same racial problems too. I know that there is latent racism here although I dont notice much of it in my everyday life.

Is it really so bad here? Come on now. Buxton and nearby villages is just the worst of worst you could get. Come down to Rosignol in Berbice where you see people of all walks of life and races liming. I'm of mixed race and belong to the 3rd largest group in Guyana. The biggest drug convicted person in Guyana is still an Indian and not African. So who wants money easy? Lately I saw a pic of some 'hardworking' Indo drug dealers in Barbados. A lot of the people who left Guyana in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, don't bother to give anything back to their country. It seems hopeless. Even if they do so, these people won't put the money to good use. This country is practically failed. You can think of it as "I go to Guyana every year, we are living good" -- that's you. Think about others who have to deal with crime everyday. That's good? Don't try to live hopefully and think the problems in Guyana aren't there because they are evident.

The Africans are mostly the ones acting upon it, but that does not mean all Indians were Godly. Until we can understand this and be open-minded, Guyana will remain poor. All of that is very true. Coolie people work for everything good they get. We are a hardworking set of people - I don't care what anyone has to say. No matter how badly we are treated, we will still work and try to build for the next generation. But them blackman want to sit around and complain, they want the money to come into their hands. It's not Guyanian. It's GUYANESE. The whites brought the Africans, but the Africans were TOO LAZY and weren't as strong. Indians knew how to take care of crops and so, Indians were brought from India to work. Somehow, because of our hardwork, we became the best and contributed most to Guyana's growth. NOT THE BLACKS. Then, black people became angry and crime started. Now most of the Indians left - that is why Guyana is doing poorly now. Where the hell are you getting your information from?

The stereotype has some truth in it, but it doesn't qualify for all blacks. Sure, a 'coolieman' can survive that long. We weren't put in that difficult position, but if we were we could definitely survive. Most of them lived for this type of work. It's only the rich pricks of India that cannot handle anything.

Most people in Guyana are Indian. I heard they are now over 30,000 Guyanese living in Barbados, guess who runs Barbados?
